A great hotel for the price. The room was clean and spacious. The bathroom was tiny and showed signs of decay, but nothing out of the ordinary and at the price point I was fine with it. Beds were firm and the bedding was crisp and clean. TV not too large, but a flat screen and a good selection of 40 - 50 channels. Mini fridge. The hotel is massive but well-kept; staff are helpful and plentiful. The hotel is like a gigantic square and there's a large open courtyard in the middle with a pool and whirlpool. This area also has some designated pet areas, which was great for us since our room opened into the courtyard and we could just stroll out with Fido and be back within a minute or two. I can imagine this not being ideal for non pet-lovers, but it was really well kept and aside from a little trash can and poop bag station, I would hardly know it was used for this purpose. Dogs stay free. FREE! A lot of rooms on the first floor open right onto the parking lot, so you can just back in and unload. I really like this, but I could see it as off-putting for some. Besides the outdoor pool, there's one inside as well in a giant atrium. This isn't a setup you see very much anymore, and I really enjoyed the mix of guest rooms, tables, chairs and the pool / whirlpool which is much more inviting and community-like than a totally cut-off single purpose "pool room" with concrete floors or some such. Staff were really friendly and readily available. The lobby was nice and reception was warm and welcoming. The location is very convenient (right off the interstate and 10 minutes from downtown) but with this comes some sketchiness. Not a lot. Just enough to remind you that you're not in the suburbs or at a posh resort. Breakfast is pretty par for the course: waffles, instant eggs, sausage, bagels, yogurt, cereal etc. They had some of the worst sausage gravy I've ever had, but given the overall selection I can hardly knock em' for this. You have to retain and present breakfast tickets to dine, which is kinda tacky but I'm sure they've got good reasons for this (see note on sketchiness above). Bottom line? Very satisfied with the hotel and frankly pleasantly surprised. I've been staying at Choice Hotels for awhile now and this is definitely one of the best ones I've been to. It comes off a little dated, but it's well-maintained and damn near luxurious for the price. read more

Stayed here for 4 nights for a motorcycle rally I staffed. Hotel was also the event site. It is very large, with about 250 rooms on two stories over a sizeable lot. Looks to be a 1970s construction, back when roadside hotels cared about what amenities they offered their customers. Built in a square around a central courtyard, containing an outdoor pool, green space, and picnic tables. Interior common area with indoor pool, hot tub, pool tables, vending machines and breakfast area. Rooms are equipped with decent sized flat-screen TVs, refrigerator, coffee machine, and desk. Cribs available on request. 200x200 foot ballroom, divisible into 4 smaller spaces. Enjoyed two of the better hotel catered meals I have ever had (Chicken Parmesan and Beef Wellington). Breakfast, available 6-10 a.m., is more than the usual continental offered by most hotels. Extensive selection of breads, cereals, and yogurt, plus a hot line, containing eggs and hash browns (string cut), but no breakfast meats. Business center with two computers and a copy machine/fax. On site restaurant (Pantuso's) for lunch, dinner and drinks. See my review of it, separately. Staff were very accommodating of anything required by rally staff, and I heard no complaints from our participants, and believe me when I say I would have heard them. I can't address cost, since the rally covered the room. Overall, a very good experience and I would gladly return. read more

This was our third stay here believe it or not in the past year. Every time has been a great experience with the staff very friendly and helpful. Very large hotel with a restaurant, separate bar/lounge, game room, two pools and hot tubs. The rooms are standard but there are some with doors right to the parking lot which makes it convenient for when we bring our cat in and luggage. Each time the rate has been between $80-95 which is reasonable compared to what other hotels charge in the area. Very family friendly and give this place a 10 stars if I could. read more

Friendly staff and clean establishment. They are pet friendly too, unlike the Hilton Express and Courtyard Marriott in Grand Junction, CO...get with the times dorks. Let's be honest, it's not diamond star, but it's clean, safe and you'll get a good nights sleep. Personally, I love to stay at mid budget hotels because honestly you really don't get more for the money, you just pay more. I called to make a reservation and the woman who answered the phone said they were not pet friendly. They need to update their description so pet owners traveling with pets do not waste their time and vice versa. read more

This hotel was unexpectedly good. Very clean inside, very quiet, even with a window AC unit. The bed was firm, and it wouldn't move when the other one turned. The breakfast is pretty basic, but they have hit items, the typical selection of cereal and pastry, and you can make waffles. All in all, a good stay. read more

I paid $63 on Priceline for a room here, including fees. The room itself was alright, definitely not as nice as the Doubletree I booked a night before, next to the SLC airport for $10 less, but that was a really great value in a different market to be fair. So why 1 star? People were chatting outside my window on the sidewalk of the hotel around 10:30pm for a while and people were having loud sex in the room next door. 1 star for the hotel or 1 star for humanity. You decide. update: I did change rooms and it was as quiet as a hotel room should be, but the new room did not have a mini-fridge. A hotel room not having a fridge wouldn't normally bother me, but I decided to get food earlier with the intention of refrigerating my leftovers. The room-to-room inconsistency murdered my takeout. If I were to ignore the mini-fridge crisis and the loud noises, I would have rated them 3/5. Okay room and clean. Nothing special, nothing horrible. +1 star because 1/5 seems mean. read more

I'm not too naive to believe that crazy things don't happen in hotel rooms, but when housekeeping doesn't thoroughly clean the floor and evidence of the previous guests' sexual escapades are found by my dog...yuck. I was supposed to stay here on my return trip, but will not be staying here again. The nightstand clearly wasn't cleaned off either. So disgusting! The next morning, I found blood on the bathroom floor and hair in the shower that wasn't mine. Still waiting on a response from management.... DO NOT STAY HERE!!! read more

Super friendly helpful staff, we stopped here on the way from CA to Colorado with a full truck of bikes which they let us store in the office overnight. Pet friendly room was comfortable. Cons- older, noisy clicking fan in room, they ran out of chocolate cake, blender was broke so no frozen drinks, no mountain dew, juice machine broke at breakfast so no juice, wifi signal is weak. All in all very nice. We probably caught them on a bad day......no chocolate cake!? We would stay again. read more

I am giving this hotel a generous 5 stars because of the simple fact that I believe they gave me the biggest value. They delivered exactly what I expect for the money I paid. I expect a lot, so giving 5 stars took come consideration. The beds are comfortable and the rooms were very clean. The room looked to be refreshed very recently. Despite no elevators and an older looking facility, it is laid out really conveniently. I didn't go in the pool but I loved to see the indoor pool and other amenities for the active. I enjoyed the complementary breakfast. The selection was right on and the milk was ice cold on my Cheerios. The waffle was really good but the coffee sucked, the eggs, potatoes and sausage were no good either. Still yet there was plenty other stuff for me to eat. Still an excellent value compared to my nightmare at Motel 6 down the street by the airport. For a tiny bit more you get a much bigger bang for your buck. I really liked it when I shared my nightmare Motel 6 story with a female front desk clerk. I told her I gave them multiple opportunities to make it right and that I would write them a negative review if they ignored my grievances. The point is, she told me that she thought more people should yelp their experienced, BEFORE, not after I stayed with them. They had the confidence to CHALLENGE me to YELP them. Good Job Clarion Staff! Excellent way to build your brand Choice Hotels! You deserve the 5 stars I gave you for having the balls to challenge me and delivering like a pro. Very loud after asking for a quiet room. Literally the family down the hall has them running up and down. My dog is quieter and getting upset. When you pay money for a quiet room. Your kids screaming or running around upsetting my calm dog makes me very angry. No help from clarion either. read more

Unfortunately I was booked to stay here for work but that does not excuse the poor service or amenities. Internet worked, at best, three out of the seven nights I stayed here (something I need for, well, work). Furthermore, upon check in was given meal tickets for the complementary breakfasts. It sure didn't feel complementary nor comfortable when the breakfast attendant zeroed in on me with the intensity of a bloodhound asking me for my ticket at 6am each morning. What hotel even keeps track of their shitty hydrated eggs and watered down apple juice anyways? But apparently they were worried about the homeless (in grand junction?) stealing their food? As a paying customer, I felt rather attacked. I think the only good thing I can say about this place is unlimited hot water. read more

Really shoddy. Attached is a picture of the chest of drawers-missing a drawer. There is no elevator in the two story place. I'm surprised they haven't been shut down because of non -ADA compliance. Tried to do laundry: their vending machines weren't dispensing some of the laundry soaps. I had to run up and down from the second floor to the the front desk to get my money back (twice). It more than served it's purpose for our time there. With an indoor/outdoor pool, the kids had a blast. There was a free shuttle that would take you wherever you needed to go within 5 miles. Amazing staff from front desk to room stewards. Standouts- Pink eye shadowed girl who worked the complimentary continental breakfast and Ike, our waiter from the restaurant. Tasty dinners. We have stayed here a few time. It's cheap clean and pet friendly. We have always had a good experience with them. The rooms are very clean, the people who work there are great and all very nice. I would highly recommend staying here if you are traveling with a pet and or if your on a budget. The only reason I put 4 stars is because the breakfast is nearly $9 and not all that great. The location is closer to the airport and pretty out of the way from downtown Grand Junction, but who wants to be in Grand Junction anyways? Stayed here on the way back east. It's actually a massive hotel that's pretty spread out with only 2 floors. They accept pets with a small pet fee and the rooms were very nice and clean. They have multiple exits/entrances too, so you don't have to walk around the hotel forever to get to your car. The doors leading outside need a keycard to unlock as well so it's pretty secure. The hotel staff are super friendly and the hot breakfast was nice and filling. Rooms were pretty generous and the water pressure was great. Had a great stay here and would definitely come again :) read more

This is a nice medium priced hotel. The bed was nice the pillows were great the shower was great. Breakfast was exceptional for this type of hotel and the customer service around the breakfast area was unbelievable. They moved quickly to clean tables keep things fresh and move things along. For this type of hotel the customer service far exceeds some higher and hotels that I visit at times. read more

The hotel, rooms are very clean and very well maintained.There are microwaves and fridges.The staff was very kind and friendly. Check in was very easy and quick. The kind lady who helped us saw that we are Choice members and offered us bottled water and snacks. It was nice! They have indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs that are open until 10:30 PM. The attached Italian restaurant was Excellent! We split the Lasagna dinner which is huge and ordered another salad. Highly recommend! They are also pet friendly with no additional fees. The amount of side work involved in maintaining a hotel is tremendous, and the staff at the Clarion do an amazing job. There was absolutely no dust in our bathroom: none even on the door hinges nor on the water line to the toilet. The pools are exceptionally clean despite the fact that they are always open. The breakfast is large and the staff do an amazing job keeping it stocked. We stayed at this hotel two years ago and were equally impressed then. I commend the staff and highly recommend staying here when visiting Grand Junction. BTW, during or stay, we saw people with very large dogs staying here and walking them on the grounds, so rest assured the hotel is pet friendly. read more

The Clarion Inn is the PERFECT Place for anyone who loves to travel with their beloved four legged baby! There's are plenty of areas for your pet to play, doggie stations throughout, & easy pet area access from ANY ROOM! We lucked into this hotel because it said pet friendly! It literally made our second night with our newest family member an absolute breeze! From start to finish, this place was welcoming and comfortable. The staff at the front desk were friendly and efficient, and the areas leading to the rooms were clean and looked well-kept. The rooms themselves were pretty standard, but nice and clean and bright, and the beds were nice and firm. I slept well both nights. The pool was nice and clean and the water was pleasantly warm without being too warm. The hot tub could have been just a degree or two warmer, but it definitely was hot enough to warm your bones after coming over the mountain, and hotter than at half the hotels at which I've stayed. It felt really nice and it warmed me right up. My only complaint about this hotel is that the hot food was room temperature the first day we had breakfast (which was a Friday morning). Eggs, sausage, and hash browns are a good selection for celiacs, but when they are room temperature you're left with apples or bananas. However, the breakfast was much better on Saturday - it was much hotter, and they had breakfast ham (yum!). For non-celiacs, they have a great selection of cereals, and a couple of waffle makers. They also have various juices and coffee. I felt really comfortable in this hotel. I would definitely consider staying there again when I'm in Grand Junction. read more

I wish I could give this hotel 0 stars. First off, my GRANDMOTHER found a SYRINGE in her bed the first night of her stay (yep, me again clarion staff!) There was 2 young ladies at the front desk the night that this happened and they were very helpful and nice, told us they would refund the $$ & put her in a new room, PERFECT. Fast forward and the money didn't appear to be refunded and when my grandmother asked them for assistance they were RUDE so I got involved. First, Greg (the manager) told me to contact Priceline & ask them for the money back since he supposedly refunded the money back to them. After speaking with Priceline they confirmed they didn't receive a refund from Clarion, so the person I spoke with contacted Clarion & apparently Greg told Priceline he refunded the money to my grandmother. (2 contradicting stories) My grandmother then contacts her bank & asks them to help her search for this refund Greg says was returned to her. The bank couldn't find the refund so I called Clarion back and a DELIGHTFUL older woman answers (Candy? I couldn't clearly get her name because all she did was interrupt me and hang up on me) & instead of LISTENING to me and giving me a moment to ask the question I had (what was the last 4 digits of the card that Clarion supposedly refunded so I can track the refund) she said something like "I'm already familiar with your situation and we've already taken care of it thanks have a great night" & hangs up on me! LET ME JUST SAY, I LIVE HERE IN GRAND JUNCTION & HAVE NO PROBLEM BRINGING THIS ISSUE UP IN PERSON INSTEAD OF OVER THE PHONE. The situation STILL is not handled, my grandmothers credit card company doesn't have the refund and NEITHER DOES PRICELINE. I will be contacting Choice Hotels directly and finding out who else I can speak to regarding this matter since Greg and Candy (?) can't seem to understand that there is an issue here! read more

While en route from west coast to east coast, we had to stop somewhere in Colorado... Grand Junction is literally one of the few places on the map between Vegas and Denver, and the place knows it and sky rockets its prices up. After comparing prices and hotels extensively on Hotels.com, this place seemed the cheapest. We couldn't believe that we had also found one of the nicest and cleanest hotels in town for the price! The room was HUGE and SUPER CLEAN - with a window directly looking our car and a working air conditioner (a rarity in hotels, it seems)! Hotel key-access needed to get into the hotel itself, and quiet and clean hallways that lead you from your room to the banquet hall and the pools and the game room without ever having to go outside (also a bonus in the summer heat)! Pool tables, fooseball, and air hockey are all next to the COMPLIMENTARY BREAKFAST in the grand hall, which was not only extensive but surpassed most hotel cardboard foods they offer for breakfast. I can't speak toward the pools as I didn't use them, but they had an indoor AND outdoor pool. The totally got the weather thing figured out here! For us, the best part of staying here was that the facility was pet friendly. The hotel is located right off the highway and is surrounded by tons of restaurants and other amenities. If I ever had to drive through Colorado again, I would go out of my way to stay here again. read more

Seriously, a really nice hotel at a good price! Clean, attractive, real breakfast, nice friendly staff, good facilities for printing, copying etc. Large atrium with pool and jacuzzi, a few pool tables nearby --- I thought the design and decoration was very pretty. I was surprised that the vibe was so welcoming and prepared for families and business at the same time. They had one staff member stocking breakfast, and he was jumping, but explained that his coworker was sick and the boss didn't want them serving food and spreading a cold. And the breakfast items stayed hot and refilled quickly with a smile. Good place! read more

Indoor pool is small, open air, and sort of in the middle of everything, in the hotel. We are staying in near winter-time, and they allow a refrigerator truck to park in the corner of their lot, and run all night. Can hear the truck run, all night long. Avoid rooms ~1070 if a motor of a large diesel/refrigerator truck would bother you, in your attempts to sleep. read more

We are on a road trip around eastern Utah and decided to visit Grand Junction, CO. Based on the review I read we decided to stay at the Clarion Inn. Our room had one queen bed with the typical tv, desk and chair. It was nice to have a door to the outside so we could bring in the luggage without going through the hallways. There was also a door into the hallway. The bed was a little too hard for me but some people like them. The swimming pool water was too cold and the hot tub water was really hot. Tile was missing in the hot tub and there were cracks around the tile in the pool. The room smelled as though it had been closed up for a long time. The bathroom was adequate but could use more maintenance of the tile. All in all, our room was sufficient for a one night stay but I would look elsewhere if we return to this area. read more
