    Walk in the room.

First time staying at a La Quinta and it will be my last. Holy cow! First, the room smelled like fish. No, I am not kidding. The refrigerator had food splatter on the shelves and the microwave had burn marks and had an odor emitting from the inside. There were holes in the walls and the cable for the TV was totally rigged up weird. Would have left and sought out another hotel but we got in late so by that time of day I just had to deal with it. We only stayed one night and had enough. I will not be going to another La Quinta Hotel again and don't recommend

I have been on the road for weeks and stayed at countless hotels and so far I can say without a doubt that my stay here was the best. First off, I am traveling with my dog. It can be difficult and very expensive to find places that will accommodate us. I find the negative reviews here hear about the dogs ridiculous and feel that people who don't want to be around animals can easily stay at one of the many, MANY hotels that don't allow them. The pet fee here was very reasonable and all the pups I was aware of were quiet and well behaved. Also, pet owners are placed away from the general population of the hotel. My initial check in took longer than expected but the staff was very friendly and apologetic. The king room here was better than suites I have paid twice as much for. The room was clean and had everything I needed including a fridge, microwave, work station and a very comfortable bed. The internet was fast and I was able to get work done and get a great night's rest. Breakfast was just what I needed. I had a warm bagel and some cereal and grabbed a few sausages for the pup and we were on our way. I will definitely return here on my way back.

1st time @ a La Quinta property ...& most likely my last. We spent 1 night there (last night) & it wasn't a pleasant stay as it appears the property is under construction. Wallpaper was peeling off the walls, touch up along all of the corners of the walls on the 3rd floor, 2-person jacuzzi tub I wouldn't dare step in as it didn't even appear clean, paper signs for room numbers, pool & hot tub is so outdated & honestly gross,,... I gave them 2 stars vs 1 as the staff was pleasant. Overall I suggest they complete the renovations before allowing guests to stay.

PET OWNERS...Was very unhappy to be charged a surprise fee for my dogs ($20 per dog!). I don't mind paying a pet fee, when I am informed in advance. And all other La Quintas have no pet fee. I felt tricked. Also, the room smelled like a dirty diaper so had to be moved. Pillows are cheap and flat. Thankfully the night manager was polite and patient. Obviously this place has an owner who is cheap. Skip this one.

This la Quinta was either new or redone and while the rooms were small they were clean and comfy.

The check in was fine, but after getting into the room I found all but 2 of the outlets did not work and the WiFi was a constant process of slow connectivity and having to reconnect every couple of minutes. This made getting any work done almost impossible. After settling in I found hair on the toilet, and tub, no towels and no soap. The staff was kind enough to give me new towels and soap. After looking closer at the room, most of the cleaning process was skipped. I will say the bed was made, but the toenail clippings in the center of the room were a bit disturbing. Breakfast was like most Comfort Inns. Based on my room alone, I cannot recommend this hotel. (Note, I will say that my friend's room was fine and did not experience any of the issues I had with my room).

My truck broke down and I needed to take it to the shop, I hoped I could check in early since I had nowhere to go until 3 PM. The parking lot was empty and the hotel obviously had vacant rooms. I was told I would be charged $25 to check in early. I questioned that charge because you have the room, it's sitting empty, why should I have to pay an extra $25? I informed them that I would probably be there for four or five days and they still wouldn't waive the early check-in fee. So instead of booking me a room for extended nights I went to a different hotel where I was allowed to check in early and had a pleasant five day stay. Customers are not stupid, we know when we're being ripped off by useless fees.

A Surprisingly Cool Spot in Grand Junction…read more We decided to stay at The Melrose on a quick trip to Grand Junction--and I'm so glad we did. Everything is keyless (no front desk!), and you use your phone for entry and concierge contact. Super modern and smooth from check-in to checkout. The first night felt almost eerie... like I was the only guest! It was that quiet. I wandered around downtown, grabbed dinner, and when I came back, I started seeing a few other people. The outdoor area was a gem--relaxing by the firepit under the glow of the neon rose sign was the perfect way to unwind. Parking is conveniently located in the lot to the left of the building. It's paid, but easy to use through the app--averaging about $10 a day. By the second night, the energy picked up a bit. The bar onsite had opened--but closed before I could make it back out. Thankfully, on my final night, I caught the last 30 minutes and got to enjoy two fantastic cocktails served in these fun, festive ceramic mugs. The drinks felt handmade, and the bartenders were super friendly. Lots of guests and even locals seemed to enjoy the outdoor space with drinks in hand, which gave it a relaxed, social vibe. Inside, I stayed in a double room--huge, clean, and very comfortable. The bathroom was modern, and I appreciated having a fridge and coffee pot. The only tiny hiccup: it took me a bit to locate the outlets, but once I did, all good! We're actually heading back over the 4th of July weekend and booked a smaller room this time to compare. I'm hoping we can make it back in time to enjoy the cocktail bar again--though I do wish their hours were a bit longer. It closes pretty early, and it's definitely a feature worth lingering over. All in all, The Melrose is a fun, stylish stay with a great location and one of the better vibes I've experienced at a boutique spot like this. Would definitely recommend!
