I picked this hotel due to the high rating and convenient location to where I was traveling. Room 120 for me at the Comfort Inn in Fruita was not a good experience. The check in was fine, but after getting into the room I found all but 2 of the outlets did not work and the WiFi was a constant process of slow connectivity and having to reconnect every couple of minutes. This made getting any work done almost impossible. After settling in I found hair on the toilet, and tub, no towels and no soap. The staff was kind enough to give me new towels and soap. After looking closer at the room, most of the cleaning process was skipped. I will say the bed was made, but the toenail clippings in the center of the room were a bit disturbing. Breakfast was like most Comfort Inns. Based on my room alone, I cannot recommend this hotel. (Note, I will say that my friend's room was fine and did not experience any of the issues I had with my room). read more

Just want to share my experience in hopes that the owner will see this and change their early check in policy. My truck broke down and I needed to take it to the shop, I hoped I could check in early since I had nowhere to go until 3 PM. The parking lot was empty and the hotel obviously had vacant rooms. I was told I would be charged $25 to check in early. I questioned that charge because you have the room, it's sitting empty, why should I have to pay an extra $25? I informed them that I would probably be there for four or five days and they still wouldn't waive the early check-in fee. So instead of booking me a room for extended nights I went to a different hotel where I was allowed to check in early and had a pleasant five day stay. Customers are not stupid, we know when we're being ripped off by useless fees. read more

Went with my family in June- the first room we were given we walked into people who were already there! Very startling as the rest of the trip I was concerned someone would walk into our room because they didn't keep their rooms straight. We went down and got a second room, in that room the toilet did not flush and they couldn't get maintenance in- so we switched to a third room. It was fine, not clean but not "dirty" either, just felt it needed more wipe downs. I am just reading the reviews now and realized I should have read the reviews before booking. Rooms were clean, set up nicely. Breakfast was perfectly acceptable with good options. Parking is easy and free We accidentally left an item behind, I called when we realized and the nice lady at the desk said they would hang onto it for the week until we returned. After reading so many good reviews, I thought this hotel would be much better. I honestly wonder if most of the reviews are from travelers without pets. The best thing this hotel has is location. If you are interested in being in Fruita, this is a perfect spot. However, our room was on the second of three floors, and completely wreaked of kitty litter. Every single piece of wood furnishing was chipped in multiple places. Also, none of the surfaces were not cleaned-the desk and nightstand had old stains on them that would have been fixed with some spray and a cloth! The window was open when we arrived at night, probably trying to mask the kitty litter odor. When I shared this information to the front desk clerk, she offered to move me to another room. Her excuse was that the cleaning people are new. If I wasn't so tired after driving for many hours with my dog, I would have moved all of my things to another room. Luckily, the bed was the only clean part of this room. The heating and cooling system does not work from the unit itself, but from the thermostat in the room. Usually when I am in Fruita, we camp, or stay in Palisade. Thought this might be another option, but I will not be staying here again. For $130, this hotel was very overpriced. I had a reservation to stay at this hotel for one night. I called ahead to notify the hotel that I would be arriving with a service animal. I was then transferred to the manager of the hotel. At that point the manager began to interrogate me accuse me of not having a qualified service animal. The manager was rude, abrasive and misinformed of the qualifications of a service animal. We all timidly canceled our reservation at this hotel. We contacted corporate and filed a complaint. Another Comfort Inn welcomed our service animal and us compliments of the corporate office. Very unfortunate experience with the manager of this hotel hopefully they will replace her soon. read more

When I checked in on Thursday, I asked the staff member at the front desk if I can have a room away from the elevator. I had forgotten to ask when I booked the room. I had not been given a room key or made payment when I made this request. I was given room 223. I asked if the late check out was confirmed because I was working in my room until 11.30am. This was no problem so I was very happy. Everyone was so nice. I took all my bags to the room and left to eat dinner at a place recommended by the person who checked me in. On my return I noticed the carpets and bathroom had not been vacuumed. I requested a coffee machine and when it was delivered I mentioned the room had not been vacuumed and offered to show the staff member. They said they did not need to see it. I immediately told her, I would normally complain about a dirty room but everyone was so nice and I was so tired, I just needed sleep. I did not realize the air conditioner did not work well until the middle of the night. The fan was working and the air was circulating so I did not complain. At approx. 1.30am I got up to start work. This is when I noticed the toilet did not flush. As I was still going to be in the room for an additional 10 hours, I knew this was not the ideal situation. I called the front desk and asked if I could change rooms, I mentioned I had meetings with overseas at 1.45am and requested a room on the same floor. The staff member mentioned there was a cart in the lobby, by this stage I was in a little panic. I asked if she could possibly get it while I packed. I had several suitcases, computers and screens along with quite a few bags. When the cart was delivered I thanked the staff member for their help. I asked if I could speak to the manager as I would like the discount of the difference between the 2 rooms. I was advised I would be contacted when they arrived at 10am the next day. The new room 217 was only a I couple of doors away had I know this I would not have asked for a cart. It was smaller but the carpets were clean. The entry way was a little dirty but I figured that probably was me making a mess when moving my suitcases. I asked if I could speak to the manager as I would like the discount of the difference between the 2 rooms. (I did not know they had originally assigned room 207 to me on booking ) I was advised I would be contacted when they arrived at 10am the next day. I left a couple of messages on Friday and Saturday. Sunday afternoon, I received a call from the Manager who was immediately rude, I put her on speaker phone while sitting with my friends who were all flabbergasted by her tone. I was accused of being rude at check in, she told me I DEMANDED a different room away from the elevator. The Manager also told me that I was rude to the Night Manager and had DEMANDED to have a new room on the same floor, I had asked if there was a room on the same floor because I felt if would be easier. Then she accused me of calling the night manager a liar. At this stage my friends who could hear the conversation told me to hang up. I advised I was going to write a review and she told me I had already written a bad review. I had responded to a survey that came into my email, I showed my friends. The subject line is Comfort Inn, Tell us about your stay at the Comfort Inn and Suites. Since I had not heard back from anyone I gave an honest review truly believing it was an internal survey from the hotel itself. I was told it was not, it was from Choice Hotels. The Manager then TOLD me she did not think I was a person that could ever be satisfied. The Manager TOLD me she had a video of me being rude at check in, I said ok I will stop at the hotel on my return trip to review the video. I was immediately shut down and was TOLD they would not share the video. Having a dirty room is one thing, even the air was not a big issue. I thought at least the toilet should work, I did not want to leave a mess in the bathroom that is not fair, however the Manager was beyond rude. After we hung up, Comfort Inn became a subject of conversation not only between my friends at the table but everyone around us that heard the conversation. People I don't even know including the Manager at the restaurant thought I should reach out to a person higher in the organization to complain about what he considered was a hostile call. I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel. It eas because of the staff and the beautiful clean surrounding areas. I have to give a special shout out to Heidi! My trip had already become difficult and I scheduled my room for the wrong day. Heidi made sure my reservation was changed with no fee or issue. Heidi and her staff were available for all my last minute needs due to the wedding I was in, right down to leaving my son's suit pants in the closet before the wedding. We stay here with our dog several times a year while traveling from California to Colorado and have always had a good experience. The rooms, hallways are very clean and well maintained. The beds are nice and comfortable. My only complaint is the lighting in the bathroom/vanity. So dim they really need to change that. The free breakfast is beyond what others service. There's real eggs and bacon freshly prepared, a waffle maker, yogurts, fresh fruits , assorted cereals etc. Not just some dried out eggs like others serve!! We really like the Mexican restaurant next door..best ever! Authentic. The location is great because there is also a barbecue restaurant within walking distance and the hotel is adjacent to the Colorado Welcome Center which is a nice walk with out Dog and a nice grassy area you can picnic at. read more

I dont normally leave reviews. I stayed at the hotel on three separate occasions over the past two weeks. I arrived to the area to explore prior to my 4 day bike trip to Moab. i arrived early on both stays (before and after the bike trip) and the management quickly accommodated my early arrival each time. They stored, cared for and secured my luggage while i went on a mini-trip. I was also able to leave my vehicle in the parking lot until i returned to the hotel a few days later. And then there was Comfort Inn and Suites. The lady at the front counter reminded me of my aunt. I like when people remind me of other people that I know; it makes me feel safe. Much better than unrecognizable, unpredictable faces. She told us there was a pool, and that we were welcomed to it. This made a lot of sense to me. The room was nothing special... but, you know, that's subject to opinion, I think. If you are used to gilt mirrors and headboards with hand carved cherubs, this place would probably not be very special to you. If you're used to motels where the weather stripping does nothing to prevent the negative 19 degree weather from deciding it hates you, then this place would probably be charming in comparison. As for me? There was a bed, and that's all I needed. The bathroom light didn't turn on right away, though, and when it did... it flickered. Not only that, but it also took on a kind of greenish hue that made my skin look kind of sallow. Due to years of horror movie indoctrination, I was not able to spend much time in that bathroom by myself. This is completely irrational on my part, however, and I assure you that the necessary components of the room (i.e. the toilet and the shower), functioned perfectly well. Dan and I only stayed one night here, and we had to leave super early the next day to keep on schedule, but we did make time to stop in the breakfast area first. I wonder if this is just me, but I love these little breakfast rooms the hotels set up. Partly because everything is free, but also because it's fun to me. I think it's because it reminds me of sleep away camp, when you have to get up really early to eat really crappy food. Except it's crappy in a very pleasing and acceptable way. I hope you can reconcile those conflicting ideas. Anyway, they had a waffle maker. I had a waffle. Isn't that neat? Also, this place is in a town called Fruita. Awesome beds! Bad showers. Beds were perfectly firm and came with excellent down comforters. This is my first criteria for a hotel - and they hit a Home Run. Second criteria - not so much. I don't know how they have their showers rigged but I took about a 6-7 minute shower and the hot water completely depleted about 4 minutes in. This was very sad given I was sick and looking forward to a nice hot shower. read more

The hotel itself was decent. Rooms were okay and the grounds were clean (ish). The breakfast was also okay...as expected for a Choice hotel hot breakfast. The customer service however was awful. I left 2 items in the hotel room (a shirt and some specialty shampoo). Now I know this was an error on my part and I should have been more diligent about keeping track of my things. However, I called not even 5 hours after checking out and the person told me that he would "check" but anything left in the rooms is kept by the cleaning staff. I never received a call back regarding the items and when I called to follow up they told me that they couldn't find the items. I hope the cleaning staff enjoy my shirt and shampoo. read more

Easy check in and polite staff. We were just passing through so we only stayed one night. The free breakfast is from 6am-9am and they have a great selection. Belgium waffles, biscuits and gravy, yogurt, oatmeal, fruit, coffee, and more. The only reason for 4 stars is the shower head must have been broken. STOP! Do you travel with your beloved dog or other pet? If yes, DO NOT STAY HERE! I've traveled with my 13YO small dog for years, and NEVER had a problem. Stayed at many Choice Hotel brands over the past few years, and never a problem. But, the manager claimed that my dog peed on the carpet, and therefore there was an additional charge of $25 for carpet cleaning. If this were true, I would be upset with my dog rather than the facility, but I think this is a scam on pet owners.I don't believe that my dog would suddenly change his behavior for this once time on an extended trip. I'm still waiting for pictures he said he would send that showed a urine stain, Otherwise, yes, there is a hot water issue, as noted by another reviewer, but my hot water shortage was bearable. we were traveling thru coloroda 2 weeks ago and needed a place to stay. this hotel was very convenient - less than a mile off the highway, near a gas station, wendys was nearby also. they had a continental breakfast that had enough to hold us over for a few hours. we got a room with 2 queen beds and it had a refrigerator and microwave. pretty standard room. overall we were pleased with this hotel. nice place to stay if you are passing thru down. we booked online and got a cheaper rate than we would have over the phone or in person. read more

This is the WORST Comfort Inn. I had made a reservation for 5/17, then changed through the online site to 5/18. Received a confirmation email, and a week before my stay received a reminder email. Arrived at the motel on 5/18, and was told that my reservation was for 5/17 and I had been charged a no-show fee. The motel was fully booked due to a triathlon (which I had traveled 300 miles to race in) and the manager refused to rent me the back up room which was available, and refused to refund the no-show fee when I showed him the confirmation email. His response was "sorry for the inconvenience." Inconvenience? I had to find another room and the closest one was 10 miles away and they had charged me $110?!?!? After calling the customer relations 800 number, I learned that my reservation had indeed been in the computer system for 5/18 and that someone AT THE MOTEL changed it from 5/18 to 5/17 on the 17th!!! That seems like pretty fraudulent behavior to me. The manager, KK Patel is worse that bad, he is dishonest and rude! Avoid this motel like the plague. And I hereby inflict the "explosive diarrhea" curse on KK Patel, may you end up in a porta-potty with no TP when it happens. I ended up staying at the Candlewood Suites in Grand Junction and it was very nice, and Bill at the front desk was awesome. read more

I accidentally dropped some money in the garbage can, (it was in a recipt) the staff saw it, fished it out of the garbage and left it for me on the stand with a note. This goes above and beyond what I'd expect. This alone will make me come back every time I am in the area. Our main criteria for the budget hotels where we usually stay when exploring the U.S. are these: low-to-mid-price; very clean; all amenities function well and none are broken; good hot water rapidly available; ambient noise minimal; beds fairly comfortable (we like them firm); WiFi highly desirable. Our current visit to this hotel satisfies all of these criteria except for soundproofing: hall noise is very audible (ordinary conversations between guests are audible word-for-word). So to mitigate that, we recommend top floor at the end! Wifi functions well, as do all the other gadgets. Note (thread with previous reviewers): We do not try to take long showers in desert areas. We had hot water for 4 minutes; so do not know beyond that. The Inn is located on the western edge of Fruita, easily accessible to "downtown," (across I-70) but we hope you're used to traffic circles because they have three between here and there. (We find that they are easy to negotiate once you get the hang of it). There are some nice little breweries downtown, at least two very good bike shops for the increasing crowds of mountain bikers; and the Comfort Inn is a short block from a very good Chinese restaurant (as well as the usual chains and two Mexican cuisine spots). Finally, this location is a great spot for jumping onto the Colorado Natl. Monumnet/Grand Mesa and all its canyon hikes, spires, wildflowers, wild sheep, and other desert wonders. read more

Pretty nice value overall - I arrived at about 10:30 PM and the guy at the desk could've had a nicer more welcoming greeting when I arrived. I went down the hall on the first floor to my room #120. The keycard took a few swipes for it to work. The bed was very comfy. Because it was a little cold at night, I wanted to use the heater - they have wall heaters without actual temperature readings to set too - so you might end up too cold or hot in the night and have to mess with it again. I opted not to turn mine on due to my inspection of the filter which was filthy - who knows how long it's been since it's been cleaned/replaced. The bathroom light is one of those really white fluorescents instead of the soft yellow. The bottom of the bathroom door wood was stripping (probably due to the prolonged moisture). The biggest letdown was that the guests on top of us had a dog running around until 11:30PM. (Yes they do let dogs here). I don't know why they wouldn't have a dog on the bottom floor though to prevent me listening. Luckily I slept well overall because I was tired and the bed was comfy. Breakfast was pretty good but note that the orange juice is actually either sunny d or the concentrate stuff - not the real deal. But it's a 2 star hotel - so it lived up to expectations. The staff is so friendly and the rooms are very very clean. The reason it gets 5 stars is the breakfast. I expected some stale food but there was eggs, suasage, orange juice that was constantly refilled and plenty else. The manager was right on top of keeping everything clean and filled. I was just rolling in to finish my trip and did not expect such cleanliness and great service. One reviewer mentioned gilt mirrors and carved cherubs, not sure what that was about. I stayed here on 03/10/2017 and If you have another option to stay somewhere else in Fruit Colorado you really need to do so. This place is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. First off the room stunk like petrulli oil and camp fire smoke. The toilet paper was like sand paper and so was the Kleenex. The bed felt like a sheet was laid over a box of springs, absolutely the worst bed I have ever slept in. Also when I got up for the breakfast and went down to have a cup of coffee it tasted like water out of the irrigation ditch with some mud in it. That was my breaking point and I finally told the office guy that the coffee was bad and he ask me why? I told him to try it and he said " I don't drink coffee" I said I wouldn't either if this is how you make it.. The biscuits were cold as was the gravy. Long story short this place suck!
