This review is for the self guided tour of this estate. The grounds are pretty vast, well maintained, very green. The structure is white with bright red accents. It's interesting to note the various leaf designs on the walls! The interior rooms are very large. There are a few heirloom pieces behind glass. There is a sunken "pool" in the backyard (fountain in the front) and a variety of citrus trees. I can see why this venue is rented out for weddings. Its spacious and beautiful. read more

I am a Non-Denominational minister who was contracted to perform a wedding at this location. The set up is great and the view is beautiful but the staff and the DJ provided by the venue were very rude and unprofessional; the DJ completely screwed up the couple's exit song and the equipment he provided was very laggy during the vows My advice to couples who are booking this place, ask if you can bring your own DJ and coordinator. read more

Just had our wedding at The Clarke Estate on May 12th and couldn't be more happier. The staff was very helpful and responded very quickly. We had our wedding ceremony and reception with a guest count of around 170 all outdoors. I loved that they provided tables and chairs and recommendations of vendors. We were allowed to have an In n Out truck and a taco man at the same time for dinner and an ice cream cart for dessert. I highly recommend Harmonious Events (wedding planner) for this venue because they know the staff and place from the inside and out! The only CON that I would say is that we're not allowed to have any tents only draping. The Clarke Estate is a rain or shine venue. I was very worried it was going to rain during the ceremony but thankfully it didn't. Many people were disappointed about the lottery system. We were very fortunate to be picked first but I believe it's fair and everyone has an equal chance. The perfect wedding venue for us. We got married June 24, 2017. The reservation process was much different than what I hear it is now, therefore I cannot offer any suggestions, but this place is really magical. We researched and went to about 10-12 different venues not finding something that fit all of our needs. As soon as we walked inside the estate I knew it was the venue. We had a small wedding of 90 guests. I thought the place might look empty, but it didn't. We rented out our own chairs as we saved so much on the venue we decided to splurge on rentals. The staff was very friendly, but don't help too much with coordination. If you can hire a day of coordinator to assist will everything, I hired Petals and linens. Even the off duty police officer was very nice, did not bother anyone of had any issues, but they will stop your bar and music at 9:30pm sharp and everyone has to be out by 10pm. No exceptions to this rule. The only negative comment I would have to say, is the requirement of the DJ choices. We found one that was our style from the list provided, but they were very expensive. I was upset for a bit that I had to spend more money on the DJ then the actual wedding venue, if you have already done your research, you know the cost of the venue, and yes, the DJ cost more, At least the one that fit our music needs did. Besides that the venue is awesome, restrooms are clean, and you can't tell you're in the park next the the recreational swimming pool. read more

The Estate itself is beautiful and unique - a real gem tucked behind unassuming city buildings in Santa Fe Springs.  Every year art lovers have the chance to enjoy and purchase an array of work, that features over 1000 art pieces from more than 500 artists. This was truly a unique opportunity for local residents to come together and celebrate the arts in the community. There was workshops to give young people a hands-on experience to cultivate and nourish the arts experience in all its forms. The art fest included live installations, moving art, live music, print making and sculpting demonstrations, vendors, and tons of food! Among the artists this year, ranging from middle school students to professionals, featured artist Lalo Alcaraz, political cartoonist and writer for the FOX Television animated series "Bordertown." Lol He draws some of the funniest cartoons about Donald Trump. I came here to see one of the featured artists and my favorite from Colima Mexico, my mom Rosa-maria, vera cruz, de los Angeles, de la Mora. My mom display some of her cool story telling art, an it was amazing as always. She sold both pieces so she could buy me a new donkey! Raza! A great venue to attend if you get the chance. read more

Why is there no option for negative stars? When it comes to wedding venues in Southern California, in my opinion, it doesn't get much worse than the Clarke Estate in Santa Fe Springs. We placed our deposit a year in advance, tailored everything from the dress to the flowers to this location, and they didn't tell us THEY WERE CLOSED. We learned they'd known for months the Clarke Estate was closed due to a combination of storm damage, noise complaints or renovations (we never could get a straight answer as to "why" it closed). Regardless, instead of notifying us immediately--which would have given us a better shot at booking a new venue--they simply forgot to tell us. If you're planning a wedding right now, take a good long moment to think about that. Spending nearly a year planning every little detail of your wedding and three months' prior to the day, discovering you have NO VENUE. In spite of having your phone/email/mailing address, they couldn't be bothered to tell you. Other things the Clarke Estate "forgot" were letting couples know the on-site wedding coordinator, and the only point person most couples had at the Clarke Estate, had retired. They didn't even set up an auto-response on her (Tamra's) email to notify people she was no longer there. Instead, they allowed brides to continue to leave messages with no response for months. I only discovered the closure when I had a question about table sizes. In searching for their phone number, I came across Jesus B.'s Yelp review saying they were closed (thank you, Jesus!). I assumed he was mistaken. When I called and emailed the Clarke Estate (and didn't hear back), I called the main City of Santa Fe Springs number. The girl working there told me they'd had some storm damage to the courtyard, but if I hadn't heard anything by now, she was "pretty sure" things were okay. When you're dropping tens of thousands of dollars on one day, "pretty sure" isn't entirely reassuring. So I called the main supervisor, JoAnn M., to confirm everything was fine. I left a message on Monday for her and received no response. I relaxed a little, mistakenly believing everything was okay, because otherwise, they'd call me back immediately, right? Wrong. When I found time to follow up on Friday afternoon, I spoke to another person, who told me the Clarke Estate was, in fact, closed, and seemed surprised I didn't already know. When Joann finally called, she couldn't have been more unpleasant, more unapologetic or more unconcerned. When I asked why she didn't return my call from Monday--because clearly I was still planning a wedding in April at a closed venue--and why I had to make yet another call to her on Friday afternoon. The answer? She "didn't feel well" on Monday. Seriously? I told her I didn't feel so great either after sending out Save the Dates with the Clarke Estate printed on them and having friends booking cross country airfare and hotels to a wedding which might not be happening anymore. The Clarke Estate also tried to tell me they were "just about" to call me, yet it took nearly 45 minutes to find our paperwork. The reality is, if I hadn't had a question about table sizes, found the other Yelp review, or been persistent about calling them, we might have shown up on our wedding day to find the gates locked. To the Clarke Estate, this seemed to be no big deal. Jo Ann never apologized to us (I kept thinking we'd get one), didn't seem to understand why I might be upset, and instead suggested we move our wedding from the Clark Estate to a public park. Somehow they felt a private 1920s historic estate was comparable to a public park in a not-so great neighborhood with total strangers wandering into your wedding photos. The Clarke Estate's incompetence in notifying us in a timely manner, lack of concern and incredible unprofessionalism ended up costing us thousands of dollars extra. Not to mention the incredible amount of stress in finding a new venue in less than three months and revising all our décor, flowers, lighting, etc. to work with a new venue. Because we had to spend so much more on the last-minute relocation our wedding, we couldn't afford to go on a honeymoon. Thanks a lot, Clarke Estate! I regret ever going here and in my opinion, would never, never EVER recommend a bride trust her once-in-a-lifetime wedding day to them. Consider yourself warned. read more

We had an amazing wedding on May 19,2019. The back yard was a perfect space for the wedding & cocktail hour. The reception area has a dance floor and cute outdoor lighting and big enough for the DJ,dessert table, caricature and a photo booth. The bride and groom rooms were a good space for our wedding party to get ready. The load in and out was super easy , as well as working with the Clarke Estate team. Everyone is very nice , easy to work with and is very helpful though the entire process . It was such an amazing day! Our guest cannot stop talking about how beautiful it was . The Clarke Estate was the PERFECT venue for our special wedding day! My husband is a wedding photographer (www.harrisonlongphotography.com) and he shot a wedding there two years ago before we were ever engaged, but he knew then that it was a special place that I would love. I didn't think anything nice would be in Santa Fe Springs, but as soon as I walked through the classy orange gate, I was in LOVE! The beautiful, expansive green lawn, the over 30 foot bamboo forrest, the classic architecture of the estate...all of it was perfect for us. We got married on April 30th! Woohoo! And all of our guests were AMAZED when they came in and they are still talking about how beautiful and peaceful that venue was. Tamra is really organized and helped us create a perfect day. She helps preserve the Clarke Estate so that many couples can enjoy it, but she is also flexible in helping you make your individual design a reality. It is really hard to reserve because the days get booked fast (which shows how beautiful it is!) so, I'll give you some tips: -You can book one year ahead for any day of that month. so, on september 1, 2011, you can book for any day in september 2012, but you can't book sooner than the first of that month. i showed up an hour before the city office opens and there were already 4 couples in line so i didn't get a saturday in september. the first two couples got in line at 9pm the night before...so this just goes to show what you need to do! -You must wrap up by 10pm and all vendors out by 11pm -No live music, but you can have a few instruments for the ceremony -Check the sound. We had sound problems with their a/v system. Our guests couldn't hear any of our vows with their mic that our officiant used. Thank you Clarke Estate! We had our wedding reception at the Clarke Estate August 2017 and were incredibly happy with this venue. I had thoroughly done research on outdoor venues and the Clarke Estate hit all the marks. PROS: We had a wedding of 120 guests, the venues comes with tables and chairs, it has a built in concrete dance floor so that you do not have to rent one, the outdoor patio also has string lights that provide beautiful lighting. They also offered information on vendors that have worked with them in the past. Contact was easy and consistent from beginning to end. The staff on the day of was friendly and helpful. The venue is beautiful! CONS: You have to select a DJ from their list, HOWEVER, we were really happy with the DJ we selected. I recommend interviewing them and checking out their social media to ensure you find someone you like. I know that they also changed the policy to a lottery for the venue which I think will make the process a lot easier. Highly recommend this place! read more

Had my wedding here on July 30th 2017! The venue is absolutely beautiful, but I would recommend getting a day of coordinator the one provided wasn't helpful at all. They were pretty much inside the entire time. Don't use Fly by Night DJs they did a horrible job and played random songs, which weren't on our playlist. Other than that the venue is great and wonderful view. The price is unbelievable. read more

My husband and I LOVED our wedding held at The Clarke Estate a few weeks ago. The venue books up fast, we were lucky to get one of the last June spots when booking a year in advance. However it's well worth the advance planning both for the price and all that The Clarke Estate has to offer. The Estate itself is beautiful and unique - a real gem tucked behind unassuming city buildings in Santa Fe Springs. Ceremonies can be held in the courtyard for smaller weddings, but we opted for a wedding on the lawn since our guest list was right on the edge of medium. The huge grass lawn takes a bit of creativity to carve a ceremony space out of, I'd recommend thinking through some kind of backdrop or altar to create the space. There are a variety of spaces for pictures - from the huge shade tree to the bamboo to their striking orange doors. Our photographer couldn't decide which space he liked best, so we did a little bit of all of them! We held our cocktail hour and reception in the back lawn, which gave the perfect impression of a classy outdoor garden or backyard party. It can get hot in the summer, and the table area isn't completely shaded - so be prepared if you're there in the hotter months. The Clarke Estate is a DIY type venue - they provide the space, tables and chairs, and staff/ security for the day. The rest is up to you to bring in - which allows you customize things (by price and by style) whichever what you'd like! They do have a required DJ list, which at first we found a bit frustrating - however they've built variety into the list to allow brides to have some say. Tamra, the main contact at the Clarke Estate, was the best. A total professional, she was always incredibly responsive and supportive during the year long planning period. For someone who has dozens of brides every summer, I was always incredibly impressed that she recognized me whenever we stopped by the venue! read more

My husband and I visited a handful of potential wedding venues in 2009, and as soon as we walked onto the grounds of Clarke Estate, I knew that our search was over. Clarke Estate offered exactly what we was looking for- an intimate outdoor venue with plenty of space and possibilities for decoration. The price for 9 hours (add'l hours are $30/hr, max 2 hrs) is very reasonable, especially if you are a resident! Check out the website for the latest 2011 rates, I think it's like 50% off for residents! The venue itself is inviting and provides varied and pretty backdrops for wedding photography. Access to the roof is a plus- our photographer was able to get some great aerial shots. The green space where ceremonies are held is perfect for weddings with lots of kiddies in attendance, there's plenty of room for them to run around. You'll also want Tamra Cook to work your wedding. She is organized and no-nonsense. She was able to answer all our questions via phone, email, and in person. She was very helpful in making sure that we knew what we could and could not do in terms of decoration and set-up. She made sure everything ran smoothly from the rehearsal to the actual day of. Note: you can only book up to a year ahead. Slots open up the first of business day of every month for weddings of the same month of the following year. It's not uncommon for folks to camp out in front of City Hall the whole night in order to get their preferred wedding date, especially if it's a Saturday during a popular wedding month. If you're a Friday or Sunday bride, you probably wouldn't need to stand in line the day before. read more

This venue is beautiful and natural.. Alot of bamboos, Trees, Grass it's nice and clean. I just booked my wedding ceremony and reception in Aug for August 2017, if you plan on having a ceremony here I heard starting next year they are going to do a lottery every month to see who will get the venue because it's still been alot of trouble argurments ,people about to fight trying to book this venue because you can only book it the day to that year in advance. Example I went to book it Aug 26th 2016 for August 26th 2017. It use to be you can the first of the month to book it for any weekend but people were camping out and fighting.. but now this isn't working so they have to come up with other ways smh... but overall the staff has been good to me I will come back after I have my ceremony and reception for an update. Gorgeous property during the daylight in terms of lush grass. I would say that at night the outside isn't as well lit (I think it's for ambiance for tea lights and strung lights) so just be careful when walking to the bathroom. Mostly bamboo and trees, I wouldn't say it's big on the flowers. Servers were great -- but I'm not sure if that was external catering. read more

The Venue is beautiful but my 2 star review is for the city of Santa Fe Springs on how they handle reservation dates here. For the past couple of years they have done a first come first serve base reservation on venue but this year they decided on a raffle. I've never hear of such a thing. My fiance and I fell in love with the venue and had no choice but go with the cities new guidelines. When the day of the Raffle came we waited among 25 more couples, and most left bummed and disappointed. I feel this was not a fair way to reserve a venue, Especially when you have your heart set on it. They need to come up with a better fair reservation process. read more

The Wedding ceremony and reception were amazing! The staff was very kind and friendly. I've lived my whole life in the area and have never had the chance to tour the inside of the house. During the reception we needed to look for the bathrooms. We ran into some staff and asked for directions and asked if it would be okay to look around the home a little. They were more than happy to let us take a look around. There is a shared bathroom between the bridal suite and the groom's room. Very nice touch. The dance floor/concrete patio was more than big enough to accommodate all the reception guest. The food was catered, I only remembered part of the catering company's name... Cafe and ??? Sorry. The food was excellent. The chicken was well done but not dry. The rice was also very good and I just love assperagas! They had an open bar and hired a local bartender. The DJ was not that good, I feel like he did not do a well enough job of reading the crowd. I went to get a tour a Clarke Estate on Tuesday and the staff were incredibly helpful! Any questions I had they answered happily and gave me a tour of the entire venue! They then redirected me to Heritage Park as another option for a venue. When we arrived at Heritage Park staff were happy to give us a tour and again answer any other questions we had. My fiancé and I decided to go home and think about which one we liked best. Unfortunately Clarke Estate has been completely booked for the year of 2018 by the time we decided to come back :(. Staff in the office were incredibly kind and offered for us to be put on the waiting list. Had my wedding here just this past September. I rented it initially about a year and a half in advance. A lot had changed since the time I initially rented it to the day of my wedding. Tamara, the Supervisor of the estate retired and they changed the entire floor plan due to an easily annoyed neighbor. As a bride these changes and unknown details made me super nervous and doubtful about picking this place as my venue. I was never notified of changes and just so happen to visit it on an open house day. This is when an Angel came to the rescue named Raelene!! She is one of their staff members and single handedly made my experience as a bride at the clarke estate such a great experience and reason for the 5 stars!! She was so helpful and expressed attentiveness throughout the whole process, even though they themselves were not in control of the changes and new staff positions. She returned emails quickly, help remediate any problems and made sure the day of the wedding went smoothly as possible! There is no reason why this wonderful staff worker couldn't step in and take Tamara's old position, as she is fully capable of doing so. My wedding day was wonderful and flawless and I owe it all to her: the venue of course is beautiful too and speaks for itself, but to have staff that cares about their clients is where it really counts :) read more

I cannot express how lovely this venue is. Beautiful for outdoor weddings. Our wedding was on a a Friday and out of all the things that traditionally go wrong at a wedding, this venue was not one of them. Tamara is an excellent coordinator and was always available to clarify and answer questions for me. During the day of wedding, I was at ease because everyone working the clarke estate was so friendly and accommodating. Tip: you get a better price on this venue if you live in the city of Santa Fe Springs. read more

Such a cute venue to host the wedding. Very secluded from the "outside" world. Enjoyed every moment of it. Only complaint was there was a lot of ants around the bushes. Kids love it, adults love it, and even the elders love the atmosphere that Clarke Estates has to offer. Staff was great!! read more

Worst service I have encountered. I went today to see the venue. They are only open Tuesdays and Fridays from 11-2 so I had to make arrangements with my work ahead of time to get time off so I can go see it. When I got there the gates were close so I called them and no one answered. I then called the Heritage park where they informed me they were closed today due to interviews they were having! They are only open 2 days a week for limited hours and they decided to have interviews on one of those days! I asked if I can make an appointment due to the inconvenience since I can't come back Friday because I can't ask for more time off at work. They said no. This is very unprofessional and definitely do not respect our time! I don't live by Santa Fe so it took me about 40 minutes to get there so I drove there for nothing plus took off time for no reason. If this is how they value potential clients, I can't imagine actually doing business with them! read more

My sister just had her wedding here. Venue is really nice for outdoor wedding reception and with the flowers, centerpieces and decor that my sister added, it was beautiful!. ... Although, the NEW manager/ coordinator is a cold hearted person to deal with. Apparently someone brought a bottle of alcohol to celebrate and take shots with uncles and friends and from what the grooms mom experienced , the manager was looking under her table for the bottle accusing her of possibly having one. Which she didn't. Finally she found it and brought the bottle to the brides face as she is having fun , dancing and enjoying her day and told the bride that she can shut the place down if they find another bottle. .. um! First, who does that to the bride on their day????!!! That was so rude, evil and unprofessional.. as if the bride had control of what people brought. Why couldn't she come to a bridesmaid or mother or father of the bride. So SO rude. The guy with the bottle didn't argue or get mad. It was what it was, but manager had to go out of her way to try and spoil things. Luckily, everybody including the bride was too happy to be affected by her negative vibes. This manager needs to take courses on how to handle situations like that. For you bridezilla and sensitive brides, I warn you. They are anal and strict. If it wasn't for her I would give it 4 stars. Not 5 stars because they are too strict in other aspects besides alcohol situation. You'll see if you inquire. read more

Yesterday I was working a wedding as a bartender assistant for Goose On The Rocks at the Clark Estates and it was my second time working an event there and this place is the best place to a wedding or a party. Its a historical place. The employees that work at the Clark Estate are very helpful. If you are looking for a place to have a wedding or a party this is the place to have it at. She has no clue on customer service or how to run an event. I would stay away from this place until this lady is replaced. read more
