Awful experience. avoid at all cost. took my car here and explained what I thought was wrong with it. left my car there for 5 hours and they call me saying i have a bulge in my back right tire and a bent wheel. the guy says they can't fix either problem but still charges me $77 for a "diagnostic fee" Anyways, i take my car to discount tire the following day and turns out i don't have a bent wheel and my back tires are fine. just needed to replace my front two. bottom line i DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!! do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!! read more

I originally went to Firestone to see what was wrong with my vehicle. I was told I needed a water pump, thermostat and a belt replacement. Their quote was $875. My husband and I were uneasy with the quote and felt as though it was a bit high. We called you and were taken care of with patience and wonderful customer service! We brought it in and low and behold Firestone was double charging us for a few things and in turn doubling the labor on some things. I am so happy the we went through you guys!! The owner really knows his stuff. He doesn't overcharge or take advantage of if you don't know a lot about vehicles. Realistic estimate on what it's going to take to repair. Less expensive than any other automotive shop I've been to. Definitely not one of those 'just because I'm a girl I don't know enough about cars to just pay for anything they say is wrong.' I wish I could give 100 stars! Everyone was so nice and helpful; very knowledgeable. My ac went out on a drive up from Houston, and looking for a repair shop was difficult, but the reviews for Ellison's is what made me go. After going, I found out that I needed much more than anticipated repaired, and could not afford it. But after talking with the owner, Nathan, he was able to repair and replace everything necessary for almost 1,000$ less than originally quoted! I would recommend them to anyone and everyone, I'll be going back for anything in the future. Stereotypical mechanic trying to take advantage of a girl. Told me I would have to replace the ball bearings on my front two wheels, and it would cost me at least $800. BS. Took it to my trusted mechanic where I'm from in Houston to be told that they did not need replacing and that it was something else that could easily be repaired for less than half of what I was quoted at this place. BEWARE OF THIS UNPROFESSIONAL MECHANIC SCAMMER My son, who is a college student there at Texas State University, took his vehicle to this mechanic shop for a radiator repair on January 9, 2017. After receiving a brand new radiator and water pump, the vehicle continue to get hot and leak water. My son continue to take it back to find out what was the problem. My son was told" it is an old vehicle, you will have to continue to put coolant in it". If a 1969 Ford Convertible can be rebuilt, so can a 2003 vehicle. Come to find out after having to take the vehicle to a certified mechanic in Houston, Texas, this Ellison Discount Auto Repair did a shaggy job. They use tieback to hold the radiator instead of welding the broken bracket that holds the radiator in place. The tieback were sooooo tight, that the cap on the radiator kept pressing against the truck of the truck, which was causing the coolant to leak out. In addition, the water hole for the water pump was put on incorrectly. Finally yet importantly, the shop did a bandaid job but putting sealing solvent into the radiator to stop the leak, which is a no no. Also, be aware that his mechanic shop does not give warranty on their parts. In doing research, all parts that are put on by a certified mechanic shop that the shop purchases has a warranty. And for information for a radiator, the warranty is one year or 12k miles. Ellison Discount receipts states, "no warranty". Be AWARE. read more

My truck started having problems to where it wouldn't want to start right away. Some mornings I would even have to get it jump started. It ran fine other than that. Decided to take it to this shop and before I did, I got the battery, alternator and starter tested and they all passed! The shop ended up replacing the alternator and battery and charged me 6 bills for it! I paid, even though I knew it wasn't the alternator nor battery! And i don't know jack s**t about vehicles!! But I was right, the next day, the truck wouldn't start! I called and explained to them that they didn't fix the problem and they told me to come back in. I asked if they would fix free of charge but they said no, that they would have to charge me depending on what the issue was. Hello! Why would I take my truck back to get charged AGAIN for something they should've fixed in the first place! Like i have money just laying around to throw at people . No thank you!! I trusted this shop to find what the problem was because they are supposedly experts and they failed. Stay away from this shop! read more

Honest people. Very helpful and do treat you like a person. They diagnosed my car, but charged nothing for it while other places would charge you fortune just for the car to enter their shop or diagnose. They would not charge me for parts that was not necessary: he bought a fuel pump that did not work nor was not needed, so I was not charged for it. He bought me 3 tanks of gas (SUPER Unleaded!) He goes out of his way to treat you well: He was willing to work a little past his closing hour even on a Friday! And especially since I'm a college student, he and his wife really understood my predicament. When I had to leave the car there and I was still at the shop, they were willing to find commute for me or drop me off somewhere. They would always try to find other solutions and advice to give. I got ripped off by a dealership diagnosing the wrong thing and they Nathan suggested to find a way to get them to fix the problem for a reduced cost or free. All parts and repairs were not rip-offs, either. Spark plugs were damaged, starter was damaged, fuel pump was unnecessary, but again, they didn't charge for it. The only thing that bothered me was how they might have been handling my car. My car was in bad shape and we didn't know what was going on, but it lost so much power going up an incline (common sense: you are working against gravity, but the car was having issues just on level ground), so I was wondering how they were driving it for them to say: it was smooth on the highway... highways in Austin are not flat... so... I doubt it was smooth unless you floored the crap out of it. read more
