Hello, we have been patronizing Clark's for nearly 8 years and compared to many establishments we've visited throughout our lifetime Clark's has a FEEL none can match. The food is exceptional and has surpassed any expectation regarding cuisine we've experienced in many different restaurants. Regarding staffing, no words can express the sincere professionalism, courtesy, kindness, friendliness, warmth that is received with each and every visit. Namely Danny (irreplaceable), Mark (irreplaceable), Donna (irreplaceable) Melvin (irreplaceable), "Field" (irreplaceable), Jamie (irreplaceable), Olivia (irreplaceable). If we have forgotten anyone, please forgive us but I am POSITIVE they too add a sense of class and elegance to this fine establishment. Our only concern and disappointment is the newly appointed manager by the name of "Lance" who by our personal observation does NOT relate well with the staff and communicates with them in a disrespectful and abrasive manner. He exhibits mannerisms more suitable for a fast-food establishment. In our opinion he is definitely NOT qualified as Clark's material. We considered never re-visiting Clark s restaurant until he was no longer on staff, however staff insisted we return and not let his temperament dampen our experience. For those who frequent Clark's, please continue to patronize this great establishment and enjoy the unique FEEL and AMBIANCE that makes Clark's the beautiful place that it is..... Just passing through town.... I got a burger w/ cheese to go. It was loaded with lettuce , tomatoe , onion & delicious fries . idk what they put on their fries but they were excellent. I did not ask for bacon , they put a ton of bacon on it. I picked it off . I hope I wasn't charged for that. It was a $25 lunch. It was a big burger & lots of fries. I was alone on Thanksgiving and decided to take advantage of the Thanksgiving dinner at Clark's. I must say the food was very good. I ordered the turkey which included stuffing two sides, salad or coleslaw and dessert. I even had leftovers . Here are the pros and cons would definitely go back. First, the coleslaw was fantastic. The turkey was with juicy, but could've used a little more seasoning, but overall very good. I chose the sweet potato casserole, which didn't have any marshmallows and the pineapple casserole which I had never heard of before instead of bringing the pineapple casserole. He brought me mashed potatoes instead, which were fantastic. He did bring the pineapple casserole which was just very strange. I chose the berry crisp for dessert which seem like it was just pie filling with a crumble on the top. After my meal came, I realized I did not get any rolls or bread when I asked they had cornbread . Was just curious to why I wasn't asked if I wanted a cornbread with my meal. I also noticed that the website menu was a little bit different than the one at the restaurant. We were driving on 95 and this popped up as a place to stop for dinner. It was excellent food and drinks. Highly recommend if you in this area and looking for a nice dinner option. read more

Excellent food. Such a warm, friendly, and inviting atmosphere. You can't go wrong with anything you order. The honey salmon is a standout as is the fettuccine Alfredo which is huge! My only suggestion for management is to have real whipped cream for your delicious desserts. That would be a wonderful improvement. read more

Very comfortable beds, right off the highway but quiet enough you'd never know it. The room price is a little higher than surrounding properties, but that is offset by the fact that breakfast is included with the room, and I am not talking about the typical highway hotel pre-made scrambled eggs, tasteless pastries, and unripe fruit -- Clark's is a full sit down table service meal. Everything is fresh and delicious. Great service, good coffee. It was clear that locals come in just to eat, so it wasn't just hotel guests trying to get back on the highway. This was a special home away from home for those few hours of comfort and dining. Thanks! By the way, they have a really cool gift shop just off the restaurant. We had a wonderful dinner last night at Clark's Inn. The filet mignon was perfect with mashed potatoes and collard greens which I have never had before. I loved how the greens were prepared. Edgar was our server. I asked him if he had been there a long time. He said tomorrow was actually his 10th anniversary. Please treat him well today. He is a gem and treated us royally. He even brought a tasting glass of Poppy Cabernet for my husband to try and that bottle and the Pinot noir he was drinking so he could take a picture and buy when we go home. I wanted to like it because it has a nice cozy old inn appeal. The service was seriously lacking I think due to being short staffed and the food was basically salads, soup, and sandwiches. My husband and I split a panini sandwich and fries and both were mediocre the sandwich was pretty bland and the fries were not cooked well. read more

For starters the waitress was wonderful! The place is interesting. However, I asked for root beer and my husband wanted a draft beer both not available. We asked for a few more drinks and ended up with water. No bread for the table and when my husband asked for a roll with his dinner it would have been another $5. Our meals were fine, small portion but that was fine for us. He first wanted the beef stew but they ran out‍. We've been there before in our travels but will not be going back. read more

Stopped in for lunch. Very classy lobby, gift shop and restaurant, very well maintained. Old style, out of place in this little town. Wife had shrimp chowder and half panini, said it was very good. I had turkey & swiss panini and fries, also good. Lots of turkey, fries were cooked well. The sandwich was missing something, just didn't have any pop. We have eaten here many times and stayed in the inn several times over the years. The food is always good and the service is great. First the rooms are spacious with southern style furnishings. For dinner my wife had the fried chicken, wow the coating is so light and crispy, the pole beans are wonderful. I had the liver and onions with collard greens, awesomeness and hard to find anymore on menus. The restaurant building is a true southern gem. We met another couple who said they had driven by for 24 years without stopping and finally did. Don't miss this unique inn and restaurant which stands out from all the cookie cutter 100 room copycat hotels with those dreadful instant eggs. We stayed at Clark's Friday night Jan. 2, 2026. The rooms are cozy and eclectically furnished. We did have an issue with the cleanliness but it was generously handled by management. The dining room is lovely and peaceful and the individually prepared breakfast (included) was great. I'd advise it to anyone who is looking for a nice place to stay with a personal touch. read more

Let me start with this is really a 3 1/2 star restaurant. The place is a beautiful historic building right off the highway. We were on a long road trip and wanted a place to eat real food and saw the sign on the highway. When we arrived Thursday evening there were only two other couples in the dining room. Our hostess was very welcoming. Our glasses were quickly filled with water and menus were dropped off and we were told (a woman's name) would be right with us. Well after about 15 minutes Edgar came to the table, he was great. We ordered our dinners. I am gluten free (celiac) and he was helpful in choosing a safe option. My friend and I shared a shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were crisp and sweet and the cost was very reasonable at $13 for seven shrimp. For dinner, I ordered the garlic encrusted catfish. There was not a lot of flavor, but the fish was moist and flaky. The grits were disappointing. They were flavorless and cold. I added a bit of salt and pepper to help but chose not to finish them. They substituted fresh green beans in lieu of the vegetable casserole which was not gf. My friend ordered the shrimp and grits and concurred the grits were disappointing. There were no gf options for dessert. It was a decent meal, and if we lived in the area we would consider giving it another try. The dining-room did get quite busy by the time we left. read more

If you are looking for a historic place, and you are not in a rush, and you don't want a huge selection than you definitely have to visit! The fried chicken tenders are amazing! The Lowcountry stew was extremely salty and it wasn't consistent from the time that we were there before and ordered it! The outside looks like a very large bed and breakfast that belongs on the coast. When you walk inside , it feels like your inside a mountain lodge. We stopped for lunch- a very sweet lady seated us. This is a must-see place when you come to town. We did not stay here or even eat here but just popped in after dinner one night for a drink. The bartender was amazing! Not only did he make a fantastic drink, he was personable and interactive with everyone sitting at the bar, and it was busy. Since this is an old home, they do offer tours. We only saw a few areas, but everything we saw was what you would expect, antiques everywhere that seemingly transport you to another time and place. Quaint, cute, and historical! I absolutely love Clark's Inn. I immediately felt welcomed by the hostess, staff, and manager. With it being a Wednesday evening, it wasn't super busy, so I sat quickly and checked out the menu. My eye immediately went to the rotisserie chicken. I asked the waitress about it, and she said it was juicy, tender, and cooked with a variety of vegetables. After her description, I went forward with my choice, and I am so glad that I did! The chicken was not only juicy and tender but so delicious! The grits were super creamy and popped with the greens! I am sad that I could not finish everything--however they give you enough for a few meals. And you will want to take not only your food, but this place home. I love that I was encouraged to sit and read as long as I wanted. And when I left, there were rocking chairs outside, so I sat and read some more. Had dinner here last evening with a colleague and a client. Yelp reviews that this one right. This is a very historic building with wonderful architecture. The restaurant has a small select menu, however, it was difficult to choose because everything looked very good. They have a full bar selection with various bottled beer, wine, and liquors. Our table chose the fried green tomatoes for an app which were really good. As for entrées, the ribeye steak with a side of scallops, salmon, calabash, seafood, platter, and a southern, staple, shrimp and grits. All of us enjoyed our meals very much. We did have to get some dessert of course. They had apple crisp with vanilla ice cream. That was very tasty. I would definitely come back here when I'm in town. read more

We have always enjoyed Clark's Inn and Restaurant. Because all our family is coming for Christmas this year, Thanksgiving was low key. We decided to go to Clark's with some friends and our younger son. The menu on Thanksgiving day was limited, but the food was excellent. Their full menu is very good. The service is impeccable and the ambiance is great. The south Santee exit for I-95 is the location of this establishment and the food is definitely superior to what you would expect for an interstate exit. Highly recommended! read more

Very good food! Alfredo with chicken/ linguine had very good flavor. It was a touch salty for me personally and I expected a white Alfredo but received a brown colored Alfredo sauce. Fried chicken was not over salty, mashed potatoes were slightly salty, green beans were fine except some steam fibers were in it from the vine. They should have removed that. The apple crisp with vanilla icecream was yummy! It was slightly sweet and I would have loved to have a more crispy texture to it but still very good. Service was excellent! Looking for a place in Santee on an overnight on our way north from Florida. Not much open in Santee on a Monday night! Clark's was very good. An old school restaurant in an old hotel. Felt like going back in time! I had their #1 seller, the southern fried chicken! Food was very good. Service was a bit lacking, I ordered a Pinot Grigio, it was awful, but I could not get the waiter's attention and it wasn't until our dinner was served that I was able to get another drink. read more

Greeted enthusiastically by an employee showing us in. Seated at a beautiful table. Absolutely loved the atmosphere inside. I had the tomahawk pork chop that was cooked perfectly. Clark's Inn was recommended to us by close friends. We first stayed there last July on our way home to FL from VA. We usually travel with our dog and Clark's is pet-friendly, so that was a plus. The pet-friendly rooms are located in a separate part of the Inn, away from the main Inn, but conveniently located to everything. The room charge includes FREE breakfast (5 choices). The restaurant is very nice and there is a great bar, for those looking for a nice place to relax after a days drive. The service at the bar or in the restaurant is very good. The bartender and wait staff are friendly and attentive. I highly recommend Clark's Inn. 5 Stars! read more
