Great food always going back every other day staff is a blessing love the lake house

Service was very good. The wait staff came around to check to see that our food was ok and that we had the drinks we needed. The food was delicious. I had the catfish dinner with collard greens and loaded baked potatoe. The two large filets were perfectly cooked and the collards were very good too. Not cooked all day, but very tender. Even the stems were tender. The only detractor was that they are currently in a temporary location, so not on the water. But the food and service offset that temporary issue. My wife had Grilled Grouper. She enjoyed her meal too. The Fried Green Tomato Appetizer was probably the best I have ever had. Perfectly cooked, large meaty texture slices. They were mouth watering. It is always great when a restaurant is proud of their health score and will post it in a highly visible spot. Their "A" rating is right there on the door when you enter the establishment. Keep up the great food & service "The Lakehouse". I would love to return once you are back on the lake. I would highly recommend this restaurant. read more

We were just passing through Santee SC for an overnight and sought out the Prime Rib dinner at the Lake House. It definitely did not disappoint! All the wait staff were super friendly and helpful. They pride themselves on scratch cooking (as do I!). Be sure to save room for dessert and plan on not being able to finish it. I gotta say, the OMG Carrot Cake just might be the best carrot cake since I got married so many years ago. Each slice is 4 layers tall and so massive that it's served on a dinner plate. read more

Overrated. Too expensive. The price-performance ratio of tasty, quality offerings for the cost just is not there. This place benefits from its co-located relationship with the RV park. RVers are a "captured audience" since onecan walk from his or her RV to the restaurant. This is quite convenient. As well, the restaurant is located in a scenic environment. These are the two big pluses. As stated earlier, offerings are not tasty. They are way overpriced for what is delivered. One in our party had Yaya's cut of steak for 35 bucks. Take a look at the picture below and ask yourself a question: would you pay 35 bucks for this? The taste was not there. The portion size was not commencement for the price. Salads are not delivered as salads, but rather a bed of greens slathered with so much dressing that one can barely taste the salad at all. While in Santee on golf trips, we consistently choose The Lake House as our top dining option. To avoid wait times, we suggest making reservations in advance, and for karaoke fans, Friday nights are an excellent choice. My personal favorites on the menu are the ribeye sandwich and collard greens, and I have yet to experience a disappointing dish. Food and service were good. I had the whole fried fish which was cooked well and tasted great. Other people in my group said their fried items were overcooked. They have a lot of fun drinks to order. Server was friendly and efficient. Make reservations if you can. It can look emptier than it is as they seem to get large groups. Let's start off with - make a reservation!!! They will be ready for you and you won't have to wait. The Lake House is a family owned restaurant that over looked Lake Marion. You can watch the sunset in the evening. It has a dock for parking on the lake. The set up is very nice. We had reservations so we were seated quickly and were greeted promptly by Jessica. She was very sweet, very helpful, and checked on us often!!! Top notch service! Two meals caught our eyes. One was the catfish. It was noted that it was from Lake Marion and swimming earlier in the day. We had to ask Jessica about it. Sure enough she confirmed it was fresh!! The second one was the Prime Rib only served on Saturday starting at 5 pm. We enjoyed both dinners. I loved the PRIME RIB. To finish the meal we had to try one of there many cakes. We tried the carrot cake and it tasted really good! It was a great finish to our meal. We walked down to the dock just before we left. It was a very enjoyable dining experience. read more

I'll start with a "positive" - the drink was good. I ordered the mahi-mahi special that was recommended by the waitress. I had to cut the piece of fish with a knife! I've never had fish that rubbery. So, why didn't you return it you ask? It's just something I never do because of stories about what happens in the kitchen when you do . It was a busy evening so the noise level was high. I had a catfish filet that was large, hot n good, fried perfect. My husband had the grilled thick cut pork chop, he said was amazing! Food, service and views are all spot on! The only thing that wasn't perfect was the hostess, she seemed very upset about life!! That's a slippery slope too because she's the first impression! Was staying in Santee overnight and found The Lake House for dinner takeout. Really enjoyed the dinner. Talked with the owner while waiting. She was very sweet and down to earth. Everyone was so nice. My wife got the tenders. They were moist and tasty. I got the wings and enjoyed them very much. The okra and squash were very enjoyable also. Definitely will be back. The Lake House is a lakefront restaurant and bar that opened in Summerton, South Carolina in 2017. It was founded by husband and wife restaurateurs Dennis and Melanie Turner. The restaurant is located on the banks of Lake Marion: the largest lake in South Carolina. Melanie grew up near the lake and often went fishing/camping with her family. Dennis grew up in the Florida panhandle and often went fishing with his father at a nearby lake. The two decided to open a restaurant that captured the comfortable and cozy feel of an "old lake cabin". My family and I visited the Lake House while we were on an East Coast Road Trip. We were relaxing in Santee for a couple of days in a hotel located right on Lake Marion. Locals told us that the Lake House was a good restaurant in the area, so we drove over the Francis Marion Bridge into Summerton and stopped for dinner one night. The interior of the restaurant is decorated with several mounted animals. The most impressive one was a nearly 13-foot, 809 pound alligator: one of the five largest ever caught in Lake Marion. After looking over the menu, my wife and I decided to order some lake cocktails. She ordered the "Boat Drink" (Crown Apple, Peach Schnapps, special blend of juices, and a dash of Sprite) while I ordered the "Live Well" (Coconut and Vanilla Rums, special blend of "Lake Water", Pop Rocks, Swedish Fish, and Gummy Worms). The candy in my drink was meant to simulate the sandy bottom of a lake; it was an amusing touch. For our food, my wife had Scallops with Sweet Potato Fries, our son had the Boneless Wing Basket with Fries, and I had "Sam's Catfish" with a Baked Potato and "Dad's Baked Beans". We really enjoyed our food and we loved the beautiful views of the lake. We would definitely go back if we find ourselves in the area again. What a busy place on a summer Saturday night! We called too late for a reservation, they weren't taking anymore. We were told we could still come in and wait. We arrived and were told there was a 2+ hour wait. Then the hostess found us three seats at the bar right away. We could order from the full menu, plus the bartender was fabulous despite being so in the weeds. She didn't get every right, but made it right. Who says you can't have an appetizer for dessert? Grouper bites are awesome regardless of when they arrive. Flounder, shrimp, dads baked beans and macaroni and cheese were enjoyed by the guys. My wedge salad with steak was a real treat--great combination! The steak was cooked perfectly medium. A bit heavy on the dressing for me, but I "suffered" thru every bite. The view at sunset really capped off this special Father's Day eve. This is a hard working crew. Be patient, kick back and relax at the Lake House. If I could give this place more stars I absolutely would. For the Ambiance, Service and Food. Our waitress Whitney was very attentive and friendly. I had the pork chop dinner and my husband had the hamburger steak dinner. Both came with two sides. The sides for both of us were fresh vegetables and he had real mashed potatoes with gravy with his meal. I don't understand why Yelp has this restaurant marked as $$$ because it absolutely is not. It is such a down to earth place (located in the middle of two Campgrounds lol) that you actually think you are driving into a campground. The road to get there is a dirt and bumpy road but don't let that deter you. Your gut will tell you that there is No way a restaurant could be down this way but it certainly is!!
