We stopped here for an early dinner on our way through Santee. This place is a hidden gem that we only found by chance, and not much to look at from the outside, but totally worth the stop. We were served immediately by the very competent and friendly, Abby. Drinks were brought quickly, although the tall skinny wine glasses were a bit different, and I was worried I would accidentally knock them over. We ordered the calamari appetizer which was good and crispy, but I doubt I would order again due to too much bread and not enough calamari. Hubby ordered the fried oysters, which he said were among the best he's ever had. I had the shrimp tacos and they were delicious, with a sauce that had a bit of a bite, and cole slaw. We each had the fried okra side and it was the best I have ever had: nice and crispy, but not mushy inside. The coleslaw was pretty good and hubby's potato salad was okay. Overall a restaurant definitely worth visiting again the next time we're in the area. We still have to try the Boil, which looks amazing! Highly recommend! read more

A&A Seafood Shack in Santee, SC, has earned five stars from me twice now! On my second visit, it was just as phenomenal. They serve incredibly fresh fish and seafood boils (or Frogmore stew, since we're in South Carolina!). The service was impeccable--Shaunda was attentive and pleasant. I had a seafood boil with crab legs, shrimp, sausage, potatoes, and corn. The shrimp were large, meaty, perfectly cooked, and already cleaned--a huge plus. I chose a garlic butter and Old Bay blend, with Cajun spice on the side. My sister had crab legs and crawfish. Everything was fresh, hot, and portions were generous. The atmosphere is a hidden seafood gem--decorated with fishing lures and tucked behind a Waffle House near the interstate. My stepmother's red snapper was fantastic, and I was tempted by the brim at another table. I even met the friendly cooks! This spot feels like a slice of Louisiana hospitality right here in SC. Recently relocated to Santee. Living in a landlocked state for the past few years I hadn't had seafood in a while, especially crab legs. I was greeted and served by Kemiya who did a fantastic job. I ordered the shrimp and fish (flounder) platter with coleslaw and hush puppies and an order of crab legs. The food was fantastic. The hush puppies were OK, I'm being honest, the crab legs were the best I had had in a very, very long time. I was able to get every piece of meat out without fighting the crab. no picture of the crab legs. I started eating them right away and forgot to take a picture. I liked how they had all the condiments on the table, including paper towels . We'll definitely be back! read more

We stumbled upon A&A Seafood Shack during our trip returning from Florida. We were staying at a nearby campground and were in search of a good meal. There are Sean options as well as "level of fries" options which I found interesting. We ordered the Seafood Boil with butter garlic and Old Bay seasoning, and it was absolutely delicious. For $50, it was more than enough food for two people and came packed with flavor: perfectly seasoned shrimp, sausage, potatoes, corn, mussels, 2eggs and two huge meaty crab leg halves. Everything was hot, fresh, and seasoned just right. My son and husband went for the Fried Haddock Fish and Shrimp Platter, and they were just as impressed. The fish was crispy and flavorful, the shrimp was fresh, and everything came out hot and homemade. Price and service was great. We traveled all the way from PA to Florida and back, and this ended up being the best meal of our entire trip. If you're in the area and love seafood give it a try. We got "the symphony" with Old Bay garlic, and butter, and it was the most extraordinary delicious fresh seafood boil that I have ever had. I grew up on Cape Cod so I kind of know about clambakes a little bit...but this food was so authentic and fresh and soooo delicious! The people were wonderful and warm and generous, and it is a very special place. This is an absolutely wonderful restaurant! When we first arrived, we ordered seafood. the seafood initially served had a salty flavor. When the server checked on us and we mentioned it was a bit salty, the owner or the manager immediately came out to speak with us. She was incredibly attentive and kind, and quickly arranged for a brand-new dish to be prepared--freshly steamed seafood without the extra saltiness. The new dish was absolutely perfect! Every dish we tried was extremely fresh and delicious, and the service here is truly outstanding. Both the staff and the owner are warm, attentive, and genuinely care about the dining experience of their guests. I went in to A&A Seafood Shack for dinner a few nights ago while I was in Santee on my way back to FL. The ladies that own and work there were so sweet! We were able to talk about a lot of things while my order was being prepared. The food came out pretty fast since I was the only customer there at that time. I LOVED the Boom Boom Shrimp, Fried Okra and French Fries. Maybe once a year I allow myself to eat fried food, and this hit the spot. I took half of it back to the hotel as the portions were large and it was getting close to closing time at A&A. I finished my one Modelo on the outside patio so the ladies could get out on time. Good food, good staff and good ambience. Whenever I am passing through the area again, I will definitely go back. Thank you ladies, I enjoyed everything! read more

Don't pass this place up if you stop at exit 98 on I 95, Santee SC. It's a bit hidden on Bass Road, behind the Waffle House, but it's worth searching out. Had oysters, steamed to order and also some fried, and Gator bites with their spicy sauce. All cooked to perfection. read more

While staying at a hotel in Santee, SC for the weekend, my family & I were looking for some delicious seafood. We chose A&A Seafood based on positive Yelp reviews. My husband & daughters gave 5 stars for their dining experience. However, I'm giving 3 stars, solely, because I ordered the Florida bream, unaware of the massiveness of the fish; which IMHO could easily be filling to 2 or 3 three people. My leftover was placed in a half tray pan. I feel that the server should alert diners of the serving size in case it's their first time at A&A. read more

We came in from Baltimore so kind of picky about crab, so didn't try it here ("crab cake burger"?). The alligator bites come with a tangy orange sauce that you can put on everything. The potato salad is the best! The red rice with sausage is flavorful. The shrimp tacos have perfectly cooked shrimp - could use a nice Big Heap of that slaw though (good with the orange sauce). The red snapper was only half a filet but cooked and spiced perfectly. They were out of a couple things on the menu. Everyone was friendly and attentive. Off the road place. We stopped on our way up north. The menu is full of fish, boils, shrimp, boils, and fried seafood platters. The service was fast and very pleasant. The fish came out lightly fried and tasty. Our waitress thought one of the servings was too small and brought out another piece of fish without us asking. Good coleslaw, and potato salad. My only complaint is you should offer something else besides sliced white bread for the sandwiches. A basic roll would've been a good choice. Price is very reasonable. Good fresh fried fish and seafood. They were out of a number of items when we visited, but the fried catfish was very good. Unpretentious but fresh; fried in a light batter. The Waze app won't get you there. It takes you to the back of the Hampton Inn parking lot. Try another app. Our car GPS found the restaurant, about a mile away from where Waze took us.
