We arrived at the plaza with intent to eat Chinese. Noone was in that restaurant. We look to our left and see sidewalk tables, specials board and a very busy place. We were seated where we wanted and the wait staff was fast and very attentive. Our smoked pimento dip was excellent. My wife ordered a spinach an goat cheese flatbread and I ordered the Bone in Chop. The staff kept checking on us, filling water glasses, and letting us know about when to expect our meal. We were in no hurry and greatly appreciated the attention and concern that we were not waiting for a long time for the food to arrive. In short, my wife loved the flatbread, my chop was the the most tender and done to perfection I have ever had. The Brussels sprouts side and gouda grits were both awesome additions. I felt like everything was priced well and not overpriced. The Creme Brulet cheese cake for dessert topped the night! It is a small but well organized venue. I like the lighting with the ferns dampening the tone subtlety. The bar appeared lively and you could tell there was a mix of locals, tourists, and travelers. Because of the size the background noise level was up there a bit, however, we had a nice dinner conversation without shouting. My new favorite dining place when passing through Santee! I don't recall the name of it, but I think it had copper in the name. I got to try a new bourbon, and it was very nice for $9. Then I decided to try the salmon. They seared it a perfect medium rare. I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture of how spot on the cook was. The seasoning was excellent, I will definitely order this dish again. The broccolini looked and tasted more like broccoli and was a little undercooked, the stem was actually a little crunchy. But the potato was perfectly fluffy. Served with real butter and sour cream it was a simple filling side. Though, in hindsight I wish had ordered the rainbow carrots. I'll definitely be eating here again, so I will have to remember to try them next time. I also want to say that even though they were incredibly busy, I didn't feel slighted at all. I do not enjoy reporting this, but Cork and Barrel should be avoided. Despite being one of the most poorly organized restaurants in my experience, C & B was busy, inexplicably. Our server was new and is not to be faulted. The staff was over their heads however even though four wait staff were on duty. The hostess fluttered, speaking to herself, not under her breath unfortunately. The "turkey club" my wife ordered was abysmal, with a bit of bacon grease spread on a half slice of turkey on each of three sliders with a bit of mayo and a scrap of lettuce. My honey chicken slider plate was not bad, but skimpy. Fries were lukewarm warm. Hostess wiped off adjoining tables and seats with same cloth, leaving table tops slimy. I had two Togo orders 1. My parents ordered a salmon with twice baked potato ,salad and soup when I got home I only received a baked potato and a salad which was the incorrect salad at that. No salmon paid 49.64 2. My sister order a steak w Cajun cream sauce asparagus and a baked potato and never received her asparagus. When I called to try to get my money back for the missing items the manager called me a liar and said she packed them herself Didn't get to take a picture of the no salmon was busy trying to figure out what to feed my mother. We made reservations for our first time visit yesterday and everything was outstanding. We loved our waitress Heather who went out of her way to take care of us. The food was excellent and you truly get your money's worth. I had fried shrimp, baked potato (it was huge) and brussel sprouts. First let me say that the food was very good. We had fried shrimp and salads. We sat outside which was not good (traveling and had a dog). The outside area was dirty and there were no fans. It was very hot. We were also dealing with flys. I think with a little work the outside area would be a nice place to sit. So we came on a Friday with a party of eleven. Another party of eleven went in right before us. It's a fairly small place so we expected the 45 minute wait for our food. What we didn't expect: the last person to get his food at our table received it 45 minutes after the first person got her food. Four of us ordered steaks. The $32 ribeyes were very thin. They were 12 ounce but just not good (mine was tough). The NY strip was a 16 ounce and a few bucks cheaper. If you take a chance on the steaks, I'd recommend the strip. At least it is thick. Three of the four steaks ordered were charred so badly they tasted pretty awful. We didn't want to wait another 45 minutes for a different meal so we just ate them. Our party made a number of meal different choices. The fried shrimp were very, very good. The Brussels sprouts got high marks. My daughter ordered the charcuterie - she said it was "fine." Pour your very small side salad out of the ridiculously narrow bowl onto the saucer it's served on - much easier to eat that way. Entertainment was a woman with a nice voice singing a wide range of songs (karaoke). IT IS SO LOUD YOU HAVE TO YELL TO TALK TO THE PERSON NEXT TO YOU. Any farther away, conversation is impossible. Not just the music was loud - voices seem to bounce off the walls- even the servers can't hear you order. Service was ok considering they were pretty slammed. We are in town for an event and stumbled across Cork and Barrel. We came in just for drinks and an app, we enjoyed it so much, we came back the next night! I saw some of the reviews which made me question whether or not we wanted to go initially. I'm so glad that we went in. It's such a great little place the food is outstanding. the bartenders are great. Friday night they had a really good acoustic musician playing. When we're passing through again, we'll definitely stop back in! I wish we would've took a photo of the pretzel. It was absolutely amazing. I have been here a couple times. The food is very good. The service, however, is lacking. The staff have either no experience in the service industry or have not been trained properly. Both times my group went early and the place was fairly empty. The hostess seated us right next to the only other occupied table. We had to ask to be seated at another table for which the occupied table was grateful. The first server did not know the menu and charged us for an item that we had just asked about and did not order. The second server took our order and brought the salads. Almost immediately she brought out the food. There was no timing and the courses were not spaced out. I hope this feedback will be taken in the spirit for which it was given. I would hate to see this place close when the options are so limited in the area, but I know that people will tire of bad service no matter how good the food may be. read more

The owners also have a restaurant in Holly Hill (Copper House) the pretzel and cheese there cost $11. not the $13. they charge at C&B. Service was fine. Two of us had steaks. So much marbling it was difficult to just eat. Spent way too much time trying to cut and figure out what to eat. The salad was good but was truly less than three bites. But the worse for me was I order a $15 dollar glass of wine a $45 steak w/bake potato and it came on a 8" maybe 10" corning ware plate and the silverware I swear was so thin and cheap you could have slid it under the closed door. We went for supper last night. We were craving the cheese curds from Copper House and found it had moved to Santee. It's better than before. The cheese curds were amazing which I got with the martini flight. First time having an Espresso martini and I've found a favorite. I also got the filet with brussel sprouts and baked potatoe. My husband got the tomahawk with the same sides. The steaks were perfect with temp and charring. Husband didn't love the sprouts but I happen to make the best so few who've had mine are 100% satisfied. Lol. The food was enough that we didn't get dessert. The bar was our chosen location and the bartender was wonderful with her attitude and recommendations. We were pleased enough that we bought the kitchen a round of shots. And I'm picky.
