    Spinach and goat cheese flatbread.
    Suzanne H.

What a delicious treat we found at Cork & Barrel! Cozy, industrial atmosphere with attentive staff who genuinely welcomed us into the restaurant. Plus the service was impeccable! You owe it to yourself to start with a flight of your favorite cocktail! The bourbon flight included generous pours with an excellent selection at a reasonable price! Their ribeye was perfectly cooked...tender, juicy and flavorful...medium rare. The tuna was seasoned well with a crisp crust, seared rare and cut like butter with just a fork. The spinach and goat cheese flatbread was also delicious! If you're in the Santee, SC area, you owe it to yourself to enjoy a meal with Cork and Barrel! You won't be disappointed!

Salmon brocollini and a massive potato

I don't recall the name of it, but I think it had copper in the name. I got to try a new bourbon, and it was very nice for $9. Then I decided to try the salmon. They seared it a perfect medium rare. I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture of how spot on the cook was. The seasoning was excellent, I will definitely order this dish again. The broccolini looked and tasted more like broccoli and was a little undercooked, the stem was actually a little crunchy. But the potato was perfectly fluffy. Served with real butter and sour cream it was a simple filling side. Though, in hindsight I wish had ordered the rainbow carrots. I'll definitely be eating here again, so I will have to remember to try them next time. I also want to say that even though they were incredibly busy, I didn't feel slighted at all. My server checked in on me regularly and made sure I was ok with my meal. Ask for Heather, if you visit, she'll make sure your visit is stellar!

    No asparagus

I had two Togo orders 1. My parents ordered a salmon with twice baked potato ,salad and soup when I got home I only received a baked potato and a salad which was the incorrect salad at that. No salmon paid 49.64 2. My sister order a steak w Cajun cream sauce asparagus and a baked potato and never received her asparagus. When I called to try to get my money back for the missing items the manager called me a liar and said she packed them herself Didn't get to take a picture of the no salmon was busy trying to figure out what to feed my mother. And calling to figure something out. But spending over 80 and not getting what I paid for is beyond frustrating. This also isn't the first time they don't put the correct food in togos

The Turkey sliders and charcuterie nachos are great.

We didn't have wine as it was mid afternoon, and we didn't sample the tapas, although they looked good on the menu. Our server was very personable and prompt, and spent time telling us of the special nights and live music programs (we were the only party as they had just opened). The seasonal drinks are fun and creative, there's always live music adding to the vibe, and Wednesdays being wine tasting nights is such a highlight. The small plates are great for sharing, the drinks are consistently solid, and it's one of those places you end up staying longer than planned. Friendly staff, smooth service, and a great spot for conversation and people-watching. Definitely a staple for a night out and always happy to come back.

When I walked in, I was amazed at what I saw inside, as it definitely was not what I was expecting (and I mean that in a good way!). I loved how dimly lit it was inside, which was complemented by miniature lights that were strung from the ceiling. Speaking of the aforementioned change of pace, I also appreciated how there were no TVs inside, which created an intimate atmosphere that focused more on conversing with your friends than watching whatever may have been on TV. Finally, as someone who always pays attention to a restaurant's artwork... I absolutely LOVED the artwork that was on display at Goat's. They had so many cool pieces of eclectic artwork, that you could almost consider it as much a small art museum as a restaurant. My favorite art piece is kind of hard to describe, but I guess you could say that it was of a God-like man in a suit controlling somebody who was playing golf. (I know, it's hard to describe, but like I said, it's eclectic.) My one (1) downside to Goat's, and the only thing keeping it from a five-star review, is that the bartender and servers were all pretty rude and arrogant. This is speculation, but maybe Goat's is one of those places that considers itself a "regulars" bar, and isn't very nice to people who aren't regular customers, but the three (3) employees I interacted with weren't all that inviting. All in all, Goat's was a great experience, and if it were an option, I'd probably give it something like 4.5 or 4.8 stars if I could. If the servers were a little less full of themselves, or maybe just in a better mood, I'd consider it a five-star experience. Nevertheless, Goat's was a great experience, I'll definitely be back, and I'd recommend that anybody stop in if they're looking for a unique experience in Five Points!

We recently hosted our daughter's First Communion celebration at Ophelia's Wines & Bites, and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing. Throughout the planning process, numerous promises were made regarding setup assistance, décor, staffing, food portions, beverage service, and overall event coordination that were either not followed through on or changed entirely by the day of the event. Family members and guests ended up handling many tasks that we were told would already be completed, including decorating, organizing tables, lighting candles, and addressing missing items while guests were arriving. Food portions were much smaller than represented during the tasting, several items we expected to be included were charged separately, beverage service was poorly managed, and there was little to no actual table service despite paying for what was presented as an "all-inclusive" event experience. Most upsetting was the lack of communication, follow-through, and accountability afterward. We spent a significant amount of money expecting professionalism and hospitality, but left feeling stressed, embarrassed, and taken advantage of during what should have been a very special day for our daughter. I am sharing this simply so others thoroughly clarify ALL expectations, pricing, staffing, setup responsibilities, food quantities, and service details in writing before booking an event there.

The atmosphere is charming, and the space itself appeared clean, but the place was completely empty during our visit, which surprised us. I ordered a Lambrusco from the sparkling section of the menu and expected something bubbly, but what came out was a still red wine. Everyone at the table was a little confused by that. Thankfully it still tasted good, so I kept it -- just not what I thought I ordered. For food, I had the crostini, which tasted good, but for the price I expected larger portions rather than very thin slivers of toasted bread with cheese and fruit. We also ordered the s'mores, which were fun and tasty, but again didn't quite feel worth the cost. A few more strawberries or a way to toast the marshmallows would've elevated it. The service was truly great, though. Our waitress was incredibly sweet, attentive, and checked on us often. She was definitely the highlight of the visit. The only real downside was seeing a few roaches on the wall. I know it's the South and it happens, but it's still not ideal in a dining setting, even in a place that otherwise seemed clean. Overall, Ophelia's has so much charm and potential, and with a few improvements -- clearer menu descriptions, portion adjustments, and addressing the pest issue -- it could be a wonderful go-to spot.

Moving back to Charleston after 25 years or so means that while I'm a native, I'm also a "newbie…read moreaka noob" at the same time. However, to look at it in a positive light, I get to explore the area while somewhat knowing the "lay of the land," so to speak. Thus, when my uncle came up from Jacksonville and asked where we could go for a couple glasses of wine I had no clue, thus asking google. The place that I really liked was Accent on Wine. When I first pulled off Dorchester Rd, I thought I had bad directions b/c there wasn't much that set it apart - ie curb appeal from a distance. That all changed opening the door! Walking in the first thing you'll notice is the compact yet quaint wine selection. I love this type of atmosphere as appeals to my snobbish wine nature. The tables and floors are rustic, gleaming with multifunctional utilization that were obtained from an estate sale in the far country. The ceiling is a hybrid of open and closed exposure, being tastefully yet frugally composed. Decore is minimal yet tasteful yielding it's way to open white wall space. It's very tastefully thought out. Finally, as a lover of all things 80s, the music was spot on. Adam Ant, Depeche Mode and Flock of Seagulls really created an upbeat ambiance. I sat down then after watching other patrons I realized that ordering beverages and/or food meant you have to go to the bar offset on the right. No problem as I'm willing to engage in a new experience. Talking with the very nice bartender, it's set up this way to have the limited staff focus on important items like slinging suds or grapes and not inconvenienced with the complexities of life such as WALKING. I joke and I have no problem with the setup. Again, I want to reiterate the staff here are excellent; knowledgably in the menu and being able to engage in bar talk. If one were to consider Cheers as a reference point: the good attributes of Sam, Cliff and Norm mixed into two people. I literally just came from eating at La Minerva and while I would have loved to sample their menu I wasn't hungry. However, I did opt for a glass of wine. As stated before I love wines and more specifically red wines from either Bourdeau, Burgendy or Rhone and "son on a gun" they had a Cote-du-Rhone Villages 2022. To fill you guys in, I just moved from Austin TX and almost no where I went could you buy a French red wine by the glass, so pardon my elation! The wine was really good with a balance of black current, cherry and licorice while slowly melding on the tongue, rounding out the experience to a smooth landing. Not pretentious, not overpowering just a mellow experience while having enough tannis to poke you if you wanted to forget. Overall, I love this joint, my style of low-key, sophistication, supply of items I like and while there weren't many people there, the vibe was a mixture of life: whether it's sitting and relaxing or a more energetic affair. I'm extremely curious what the atmosphere is like in terms of more people hanging out and also the food. Today call me Arnold b/c "I'll be back...."
