    Good deal!

After going to Yelp Fitness: Master Pilates class in town along Kapiolani Boulevard and talking with our Yelp class instructor Joy B. about class and then somehow about the comfy flats Crocs on my feet, Nadine C. and I drove to Waikele to check out the Crocs Outlet store in the Waikele Shopping Center. Well obviously this is not the Crocs store so here's where the story begins: After Nadine C. and I visited Crocs where Nadine surprised me by buying me a pair of cute Crocs laced perforated black sneakers birthday present here, she said she needed to go to Clark's. [THANK YOU for the wonderful birthday surprise black lace-up sneakers, Nadine C.!! :D ] When I asked her if she was planning to buy more shoes, she said: Nope, I'm gonna be good. I'm just gonna take a look :) Now I remember this Clark's store before. My first impression back then when peeking into the window was that these styles did not look very fashionable. Whatever they had then did not appeal to me and this is where the HOWEVER comes in. HOWEVER, Nadine energizer bunny disappeared into the store and so I thought well, I'll just amuse myself while waiting for her. What happened to me then went beyond belief! WOW! I picked through the shoe styles and finally tried on a pair I thought was pretty cute thinking it looked like any other kind of shoe and probably wouldn't be comfortable at all. Well, you see, Clark's makes shoes of different styles, ones that are less fashionable to me lol and other more fashionable (yay!)! Remember I thought everything was not fashionable?! Well, let me tell you how wrong I was! :P That first pair is what I wore to roam the entire back aisle and my shoe size aisle. Cute, all-leather, nice suede ruffle detailing at the foot opening, nice stacked heel, nice deep black color. Looks and feels a lot like an excellent quality shoe! What really surprised me is how while I walked around just how danged comfortable my feet felt in those shoes. Holy moly! Well, by the time we were done, I'd walked out with not just one but TWO pairs of ultra comfy shoes, a cute lace up sandal in taupe and a black covered stacked heel professional work shoe. It was also great that it was sale day so I got a really good deal! TWO super-duper comfy shoes for $120! Great quality, very stylish shoes at a comfort level that has you walking around for hours and even an entire day!? Unheard of! Now that is MORE than a fantastic deal for not just your precious footsies but also for your pocketbook wallet! It's been a couple months now and I cannot tell you just how comfy these shoes have been everywhere I go, even back and forth to the Aloha Stadium, up and down stairs! I wear these shoes EVERYWHERE!!! :D Best thing I've learned about this brand is they make me wish I could have bought these before and more of them! It also makes me wish I didn't buy so many Nine West not so comfy shoes in the past! :/ Boo :( Want to know what happened after this? After this purchase, I went online to buy a few more pairs of the lace up style in different colors before the style was discontinued. I'm happy to report I now own FOUR styles and am one happpppy Clark's shoes owner! :D Try a pair! You definitely will not regret it! :D

    C-note for the pair(s). Aloha

Back in (I believe it was) 1989, a little movie came out called "Black Rain" (great flick btw!). In this movie Michael Douglas plays a NYC Detective (Nick Conklin) along with his partner played by Andy Garcia (Charlie Vincent). If you have never watched this movie I suggest you check it out, it'll be worth your time. It's New York and Osaka, two of my favorite places. Time well spent is never wasted. Nick picks up Charlie on his Harley EVO Sportster (no spoilers here!), and In that scene, Charlie says... "Look at these Nickie, New Bostonians, eighty-five dollars a pop!" Showing Nick a shiny wing-tip. "I hope they threw in some socks with that." Charlie grins. "Ladies of the 80's are going for shoes, they say it's the second place they're looking," Charlie smiles. Thus began my love for Bostonians. I was very young, and easily influenced. I've worn lots of shoes, but when I look to a casual dress shoe that looks good (and is comfortable!) walking down the Champs-Elysees, 5th Avenue, or Umeda and still feels eloquent walking into a five star restaurant, I remember Andy Garcia. My Bostonian "Penny Loafers" (always stylish!) were $69.99 (that beats Andy!) with a forty percent discount on the second pair. I (you gotta believe me here) literally begged my entourage to use the discount to no avail. I mean, can you believe that? Women, refusing to use a discount? On shoes? So I picked up a pair of Clarks suede loafers for a song. I just couldn't let the discount go. All in all, the service here is excellent. I picked the shoes I liked and the young man helping me (I forget your name buddy, but you were spectacular!) found my needs (I'm a size 12!)...and they don't work on commission. He was most knowledgeable and accommodating. So, hopefully, if I ever run into Cyndi Lauper (I loooooooove her! "True Colors") my feet will be the second place she looks...and she won't be disappointed either way. ;) And btw...Charlie (Andy Garcia) gets decapitated by Sato (played by Yusaku Matsuda, a fine actor in his own right, who died well before his time) in a most dramatic fashion...spoiler! Now, go watch Black Rain. Aloha

You get what you pay for - and since I am "thrifty", I get my shoe fix at this outlet in Waikele.

The service is good, the customer service team is knowledgeable about which shoes to recommend and are very helpful. I don't like it when people try to sell me items and keep on asking me if I need help so I really appreciate the service and help provided when asked. I've been dealing with plantar fasciitis so I was desperate to get new work shoes for the following week because I'm on my feet all day. I called Runner's Hi to see if they were open during the storm and Ray answered. I explained what I was looking for and he said to come in. When my son & I got there Ray greeted us and I told him I had called ahead. Ray went above & beyond to help me find the right shoes & inserts to deal with my plantar fasciitis. He sized me, took a look at my feet and saw I had collapsing arches. He recommended 2 different shoes. I asked him for all black shoes because I needed them for work. He had me try on 2 different pairs of shoes one was the Hoka Bondi 9 and a pair of Brooks and had me walk around to test them. Ray also suggested that I walk around with Hoka on one foot & Brooks on the other foot to compare the 2 shoes better. I ended up with the Hokas & the recommended inserts to make it more comfortable for my plantar fasciitis. I also bought a massage ball and compression sock to aid in my recovery. The Hokas felt great & I made sure to wear my current work shoes to the store so Ray could see what I was currently wearing. Thank you so much Ray! I will definitely be back when it's time to upgrade my work shoes.

It felt pretty much like self-service, since there were so few employees at the time I went. They didn't have the shoe style that I actually wanted, so I picked out a style that was marked down, and tried it on. The fit was good, so I decided to get it, and purchase the other one thru the app. Checkout was fairly smooth, and the clerk reminded me about the BOGO 50% promotion, but since I rarely wear regular shoes, other than golf shoes (and they didn't have any others in my size), I passed on it. Perhaps I should have considered getting some sandals or slippers, but I can still do that online. He was able to check my account status, and applied my membership discount to my purchase, and I was done. A good, quick turnaround, and other than the lack of inventory and sizes, it was a good experience.

Rows and rows--and I mean rows--of shoes for women, men, and kids. I scored some great kicks for my trip at a price that made me feel much better than if I'd shopped at Ala Moana. They've got socks too, in case you want the whole matching set. Parking? Tons.......Seating to try your shoes on? ........Not so much--you might find yourself doing the one-legged "shoe store balance" move. And with the aisles packed full of options, be prepared to shuffle past other bargain hunters. Worth it for the deals, your feet (and your wallet) will thank you.

EXPERIENCE: This store is located in the Waikele Premium Outlets in a medium-sized spot in the mall's west end. Parking is horrendous. The shop was neat and organized, with shoe samples on display and the inventory stacked on shelves right behind the display. It's mainly a self-serve kind of operation but an abundant amount of staff buzz around offering assistance. Vans has a nice selection of men's shoes in a variety of colors and patterns, but the only thing that irks me is their label that's glued onto the back of the soles that aren't even flat but protrude up on one side due to a bump in the design. I picked up a low top in ash gray with accents of black plaid and cement gray soles. And on top of that, everything in the store was BOGO half-off. Every single item! We saved bookoo bucks! And for the record, don't think their products are defective or irregular because it's an outlet store; there's nothing wrong with them. The workers were all very friendly and helpful; so unlike what I'm accustomed to on Maui where you get no acknowledgment or assistance. The female cashier who assisted us was terrific too and very patient as she walked us over to where the shoe laces were and assisted us instead of just pointing them out. OVERALL: We found such great deals here and at other stores in Waikele, so they're definitely on our must-do list when visiting Oahu. My shoe size wasn't available in some styles which is the only reason this review isn't a 5-star.
