Dr Stacks is awesome - she is the reason we continue to use this location even though there are probably 4 or 5 closer Clarkson locations. The staff is pretty good. However, it sounds like they use a portable credit card reader and someone forgot to charge it so they could not run my credit card. They said they would call in 20 minutes. I asked if they could make it an hour. Maggie told me to just call her and gave me the number and told me to hit 4 and then 3 and it would take it to her. Lies! It took me to an automated number with hold music that literally gave me a headache. After 12 minutes, it disconnected me. I never spoke to a person. Then I left a voicemail. I waited and did not receive a call back in 30 minutes. I called back again and was on hold for around 10 minutes again. Finally someone very apathetic answered. I shared what I went through and he was so bland, so bored that I almost hung up. I finally said, "You have 10 minutes to resolve this.After that, I am hanging up and you can consider the order cancelled." In 8 minutes, I bounced to 2 other people before finally reaching someone who took my credit card information. Lousy customer service. Hire better people. Get rid of those who can't remember to charge the card reader and whose best customer service is slow apathy. 70 minutes to pay my bill is ridiculous. One more screw up and I am done with Clarkson for good. read more

I ordered glasses from this store on January 20 2026. I finally got them yesterday March 17th. During this long wait I made multiple calls trying to find out what was taking so long. Most of the time nobody answered these calls. Twice I drove to this store to talk face to face only to find the doors locked and no one there. Yesterday when I picked up my glasses I asked why they were closed so much. They said they could only get a Dr there on Tuesday and Thursday and they only are open when a Dr is there. Updated 4-13-26 I have tried every way of contacting anyone at this company and no one will return calls, emails, texts, FB messages, IG messages, etc. But they are DELETING my FB comments when I ask to be contacted via one of their posts so I know they are seeing my messages. At this point it has been 9 days and no one there cares. Oh, and their Yelp page says they are open today (Monday) but yet again they are closed. I'm pretty sure this location is permanently closed? My husband and I have been coming here several years. Clarkson scheduled our annual checkups without checking with us for Satrday April 4th at 830 am.... OK whatever, they sent multiple texts and emails to both of us several times over the past 2 months to remind us and warn us of missed appointment charges. We showed up this morning at 830 and the doors are locked and place is dark. There is a sign on the door with the hours saying Mon-Friday and closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Huh??? THEY WERE THE ONES THAT MADE THE APPOINTMENTS FOR US ON A SATURDAY MORNING!!! They had sent several texts and emails to remind/warn us!!! And they are not open on weekends at all, but their hours in Yelp and other sites say they are open on Saturday from 8 to 1?? And no one answers any phone calls or texts or emails or FB messages. I assume since they missed THE APPOINTMENTS THEY MADE FOR US (!!) they will be sending us payment for them missing the appointments? And no one at the Fairview location or the HQ had access to a list of appointments that THEY had made for weekends when they decided they will no longer be open on weekends with no notice? I don't think we will be back. This is very poor customer/patient service. We arranged our entire day around these appointments and they didn't even have the consideration to call us back or let us know they are not open on weekends? read more

Clarkson hired a new Dr to replace a Dr that left the practice. I was asked if I wanted to keep our yearly appt because of the change. Please let me tell you how I am so grateful that I did. Dr. Molly Stacks is awesome. Before even discussing the positive energy of Dr. Stacks, the staff and office manager are simply awesome. You can feel the positivity oozing from the staff and it's contagious. Then Dr. Stacks enters the room with abundant energy that pulls you in. Watching and listening to Dr. Stacks explaining your results and the anatomy of the eye in terms that would make sense to anyone was amazing. Dr. Stacks is relatable. I got my eyes checked at a different place in June, and the doctor said my prescription hadn't changed much. He told me I didn't need new lenses, as they would only make my vision slightly clearer. In August, I broke my glasses and had to get a new prescription. I went to Clarkson, where both the optometrist and doctor spoke to me remotely via a monitor. Surprisingly, they claimed my eyesight had worsened drastically--almost double my previous prescription in just two months. I mentioned my recent eye exam, but they insisted their numbers were correct. I ordered glasses from Zenni, but they felt completely off. When I went to another Clarkson branch (since the first was closed), they checked my Zenni glasses and said Zenni had made them incorrectly. Later, I returned to the original Clarkson, and they claimed Zenni had actually done a good job! That's when I lost all trust in Clarkson--the two branches gave me completely different answers. I asked them to check my eyes again, and the remote doctors confirmed the same high prescription, saying I probably just wasn't used to Zenni's lenses. So, I bought an expensive pair with high-quality Korean lenses--and they still didn't feel right. Since August, I've been using my old glasses with a glued arm. Finally, I went to Seattle for an in-person eye exam with a real doctor. Turns out, Clarkson had given me a ridiculously high prescription, and my eyesight was actually very close to what it was before--just as the first doctor had said. Clarkson not only failed to determine my correct prescription but also couldn't even assess Zenni's lenses properly. Now I've wasted money, time, and have been struggling with glasses that hurt my eyes. On top of that, I have to buy new lenses--again--at a high cost. read more

I went to this location after picking up my glasses at a different location and the doctor wasn't in. This is not my normal location and I WILL NEVER RETURN! I thought I had lost a contact under my upper lid which is what brought me to this location in the first place. They were kind enough to fit me in (which is why the one star) and the doctor, Brian looked in my eye. He said he didn't see anything and put a drop of dye in my eye. It burned but stopped rather quickly and I just wanted the contact out. After looking in my eye and even flipping my eyelid over, which honestly I don't think he was actually successful at doing since his fingers were too big, the doctor declared that there was nothing in my eye and sent me home with a prescription to pick up at the pharmacy. Come to find out that the reason the doctor was having trouble getting the computer to accept the prescription is because I'M ALLERGIC to what he was prescribing. Here's the part where I'm furious. After returning home, I was lying on the couch and my eye was seriously irritating me. I went into the bathroom and there was discharge coming from my eye. I started cleaning it out and wouldn't you know it, a contact the color of the dye comes out on my finger. Not only did this lousy doctor get paid to DO NOTHING OF VALUE, but he PRESCRIBED SOMETHING I'M ALLERGIC TO! It says it right there IN MY CHART! And NOW, I have to pay a $30 deductible for a terrible visit which resulted in a charge for no service and a prescription for something that would've landed me in the hospital had I not been vigilant and checked it before picking it up. read more

I've been to a few clarkson eye care facilities and this is the one that I will return to over and over again. Emily is a fantastic technician. She was very helpful, super friendly, explained everything, and saved me extra $$$ out of pocket vs a different clarkson location that I was at few weeks prior (see different review). Dr. Hopkins is the worst optometrist I have ever been to. I went several times before casually asking if another DR was available. They started he was the only one in the area, not true. Please go to Shiloh, they are amazing and the friendliest (and most helpful!) staff and optometrist! read more

Another Clarkson Eyecare location SEVERELY let me down, and I've been going there since I was 16, I'm 34 now..just sayin. Never have I had a bad time until last week. The folks at Fairview came through for me BIG TIME. I must have contacts at my job so I can wear my safety glasses securely. I work on cars for a living, so my eyes get exposed to oil, chem dry, coolant, metal shavings, you name it. If not for excellent service and giving me a pair of contacts to limp on til my next appointment, who knows how my eyes would be doing by now. I used to go to the Edwardsville location to see Dr. Baker, but after moving I decided to take a chance and see a new eye doctor closer to me through Clarkson. It was not a mistake! I had a great experience with the entire staff, especially my eye doctor at this Fairview Heights location, Doctor Lacey Walk. I highly recommend Clarkson Eyecare facilities. the staff is very helpful and friendly, but the experience with my classes, I am not happy. I had to return my classes 4 times. when I pick them up for the 1st time, i told the person waiting on me that the classes has not change from my old classes. The 2nd time, I told them that I can't read or wear them when I am working on my computer at work. The worker told my to push them up closer to my eyes. I ask why?, when the person supposed to measure the classes before ordering them. (nothing was done). the 3rd time, the classes were sent back to move the bifocal up. I waited 10 days to get them back. still not right. The 4th time, I was told that the bifocal was not moved. So I had to wait another 7 to 10 days to get them back. They are not perfect, but I can live with them. Now after 3 weeks, the classes are falling apart. The lenses came out twice, the screws come out. I took the classes to someone else to fix them. I had LASIK eye surgery done last Friday at Clarkson Eyecare in Fairview, IL. I first went in for a consultation prior to my surgery where the staff and the doctor were incredibly nice and supportive. The doctor gave me a full eye exam and sat with me for as long as I needed him to answering all my questions. Once the day of my surgery came, the staff walked me through each step, comforting me along the way. They were informative and patient, letting me know what was happening during each step of the procedure. As scary as I thought the surgery would be, I came to realize it was not so scary at all. They did a great job and I am writing this review with 20/20 vision for the first time in my life sans glasses or contacts. I went through my insurance who were able to connect me with QualSight LASIK. They were very nice and informative. They worked with me and helped set me up with a company who allows 6 month free financing to help me pay for my surgery. QualSight basically paid for half of my surgery, and even though the surgery wasn't cheap, it has now become the greatest decision I've ever made for myself. It's the best money I've ever spent, which means a lot coming from me because I am VERY frugal. Thanks to Clarkson and QualSight for giving me the opportunity to follow through with my wish of perfect vision. It sounds so silly, and I'm not the type to ever say such a thing, but I have a new lease on life. I am proud of myself for doing this for myself.
