We had a…read morecarport added to our 2 car garage and then a room above that entire area (so essentially above a 3 car area). It took 2 and 1/2 years to complete! Yes COVID was in the works and there was time off due to illness of both the contractor and his supervisor. However, there was also a 7 1/2 month period where NO WORK was done AT ALL. Excuse after excuse. The work was done well and we really like our new room. We have a beautiful knotty pine ceiling. The room is essentially three areas; a "family area" - sofa, chairs, coffee table, fireplace. A pool table in the middle and a sewing area in the 3rd area. The family area was supposed to be 14 feet from fireplace towards pool table area. It ended up being 11 feet! There was no conversation with us, the owners, that an error had been made by the architect and that the County had corrected and that changes would have to be made. Had there been discussion we might have been able to do some modifications which would have still allowed for the "family area" to be the 14 feet originally planned. The furniture I ordered for that area does not fit well now due to the reduction in size. Before the room was even completed we had a lien filed against our property as the Contractor hadn't paid one of his subs. We had to pay approximately $9,000 to get that lien eliminated. Luckily we still owed the Contractor money and were able to take it off the final payment. However, it took filing with the Contractors Construction Board (CCB) to get the Contractor to finish the work. Yesterday, after the job was finally completed in June, we received a Certified Letter that another sub-contractor had not been paid. I called the sub and they said they had been trying to get the Contractor to pay for over a year. Thankfully my call to the Contractor after receiving that letter resulted in the sub finally being paid today. To summarize, the work they do is very nice and our room is lovely! They were easy to have around and cleaned up after their work prior to leaving for the day. Had we not had all the delays or the liens/lack of payment to subs issues, I would recommend them. But 2 1/2 years is way too long to complete 1 large room above a garage. We received no apology or any financial reduction to compensate for the "family area" being 3 feet shorter than it was supposed to be. I would say that if someone reading this does go ahead with this particular Contractor you make certain that you hold back 50% of the project total until all work is completed. We were novices to this and our contract allowed for only a 10% final payment. There should also be a stipulation as to what the time period will be in which the work will be completed and if they don't comply with that provision there is a financial penalty.

He was very slow and ran us way over budget (he essentially billed us 89.00 per hour to put in tile, and he seriously billed us for 48 hours of tile work to put in 45 pieces of 12x24 tile). When we would ask for estimates to finish, he gave an estimate, and then took twice as long as his estimate. When we confronted him, he literally said, it's time and materials, it is what it is. We finally had him stop work when he was close to 50% over our original estimate (and he STILL wasn't finished). The final quality of work was so bad, we had to hire a new contractor and have all the tile torn out and start over. Be careful!

They were able to fit me in the next day and get the job done, using all the materials that I already had on site. About as professional a company as one could hope for. I never met the team in person, but handled all the work via phone and could see their work and actions via full coverage surveillance system. Everything was done to the highest quality, and I was provided with multiple photos of the work during and after completion. After completion, I offered to pay more somewhat as a "tip" since their level of service deserved it, but they wouldn't have it. While I expect my roof to last for decades, I would love to find additional roofing projects in the future for the company. I hope that I can provide them additional work by reference at the very least - they deserve to be one of the more successful contractors around.

Often, with contractors, after everything is signed you never see the owners again. Not the case with PPB, the owners, and project manager were there everyday, checking in, and documenting the progress. Speaking of progress, our full-kitchen remodel was finished 4 weeks ahead of schedule, and included many cool features and ideas they included in the design. PPB also greatly minimized the pain-in the butt that goes with having major construction done about ten feet from your bedroom. They sectioned off the entire work area with double sided tarp, and had lock box, so we had a lot of privacy and relatively little dust through out the job, (and left the place every night way cleaner than it was before we hired them). This kind of endeavor is never easy, there's always problems, and they handled all of them with ease and grace. (At least on our end) In fact for us, that's one of the best qualities about PPB is that they soak up all the headaches involved in a project of this scope; permits, inspections, a multitude of (borderline unreasonable) requests from their clients, all taken care of with a "no problem" attitude. Other repair companies told me it never should have been done that way to grout the corners. Everything has cracked and separated. All the original work ran late and so much had to be corrected. Alex and his crew came the same week and did an amazing job on the project. They were very respectful of my property and placed everything back in their place. Their work was solid. Alex took pictures and send them to me as I was at work. After they were complete, they cleaned up the area well and placed everything back.
