I also stopped by the shop and asked to talk to him (he was not there). He has offered to fire the person and/or compensate me with $60 + a free haircut if I change the review (photos attached). Giving me a bald spot for fun is way too unprofessional for me to consider changing the review. I have offered to point out the guy to Arthur, but I am not asking for the guy to be fired. One of these guys gave me a bald spot because he thought it was funny. He thought I didn't notice and gave me a fist bump with a slight smirk on his face after the haircut. After the haircut my girlfriend told me I was balding, and I instantly realized what happened. The hair grew back to normal in a few weeks. At least one of the guys working here is an unprofessional jerk, so l'd recommend going somewhere else.

She gave me an awesome haircut and also trimmed my beard so that I can attend the wedding reception with the best looks! She is very good at what she does and more importantly extremely nice and kind person. Once you interact with her you know how much she loves her job and cares for her customers. One tip to add: If you are visiting for the first time, you may have trouble locating the salon. It's right next to De Janeiro. But most of those glowing reviews are pre-covid. I don't know if a lot of their stylists left but there's a notable lack of reviews post-covid. They're kind and the space feels lux and quiet. Problem is communication, went multiple times feeling very whelmed and changed stylist every time. After my third time I think I'm done, I've shown pictures and discussed with them what I wanted but they can never seem to get it right. Instead they default to a generic taper short off the sides and medium top cut, but then why tell me you can do the cut or even have experience with it? Is it my head shape? Face? Am I too ugly? Communicate that to me before you decide to just ignore the conversation we had and just free style. It's frustrating because I am growing out my hair for this cut and they do what they want. I don't want to be rude and stop you mid cut but then why am I paying so much just to be left unsatisfied? Most of the men leaving the place have the same exact cut. Anything longer than a short to medium cut is a no go, those cuts look clean and nice. Kept going in with shoulder length wavy hair just to get butchered every time.

One jackass who charges $100 for a haircut talked about how a real barber (such as himself of course) only does 4 haircuts an hour. Really 4 haircuts an hour? That's 15 minutes each, which after getting in and out of the chair and prepping and combing equals about 10 minutes. You might as well go to supercuts to get that sort of crap haircut. Which brings me to Jerry's! If you are in the city and want to spend 1/3 of what some hipster doofus barber will charge you then check out Jerry's! I used to go to Jerry's consistently when I first started working in midtown but started going to a place in jersey near where I lived at the time, though I still pop over once in a while. If you are in midtown and want a good haircut, this is the place (great if you work in midtown and the boss is giving you crap about your shaggy hair). Mostly older barbers who can do a variety of styles (though I doubt they do shaggy hipster/bieber cuts).They give a very thorough, careful haircut. Usually lasts at least 25 minutes, since they actually take their time and go over it more than once to make sure it is perfect. It is pricey around $30ish I believe, but hey, its in midtown. And of course they use a straight razor, and less importantly but still really cool, they have an ancient hand cranked hot towel machine! P.S. Its very difficult to find (buried in the basement) so ask for directions at one of the rock center info desks located at each entrance.

If you're a male living in NYC and are looking for a real BARBER (AKA not a salon), look no further. I've been going to Classic Barber Shop for over 5 years and I would never go anywhere else. The haircut I get there is always consistently awesome and I always leave happy. On top of that, Edward the owner is a super nice guy who makes it a priority to take care of his customers. Hot towel after your cut? He's got that for you. Looking for a clean shave? He'll do that too. Heading straight to meet someone for a date? Edward will wash you proper after the cut and make sure you look nice for that special someone. Oh yea - all this for under $20. Do yourself a favor and head to Classic Barber Shop - you'll never need to look for a barber in NYC ever again. read more

My boyfriend has been getting his hair cut by Eddie (first chair) at Classic Barber Shop for close to 2 years. Eddie and his associates are extremely professional, friendly, and all give a stellar, salon-style haircut. He usually calls ahead to ensure the wait isn't too long and Eddie always accommodates him. I believe the haircut is $16.95 and you have the option to shave your neck with a straight razor and have a hot towel after. Best price and quality haircut in Murray Hill. This is the only place I go to in the city to get my haircut. Paul (the son) has been cutting my hair for over a year now and he never dissappoints. Classic Barber Shop is a cut above the rest in Manhattan- very reasonably priced ($14 for men), no hidden costs, friendly staff, and you won't be getting a haircut from someone named Destiny or Blaze (ahem, Dramatics). Keeping with their "old-school" approach, each haircut ends with a lather-induced neck shave (with a razor blade and hot lather, of course). I'm fairly new in the city, I live and work aground this neighborhood....needed a haircut, went online and looked up the nearest barbershop...Classic Barber Shop...As I went in, I was pleasently surprised, the whole shop was extremely clean, they have a dresscode, white tops and black pants. They are also very professional. I had a chance to try all three barbers, and was equaly satisfied, they follow directions and give hot towel........and by the way they charge only $15.95...and except credit cards I total recommend this place to whoever wants to get a real and professional service read more

I had been going to the same barber for the past 10 years. It was an hour drive away and it is really challenging to drive there with my new job. Hence, I started looking for a new barber shop around the Flatiron District. Eddie's shop is very close to the building I work at. I took a chance and I was very pleased with the overall experience. This place is legit. I've been around the city and have tried shops ranging from $15 to $70. Saw this place when I had to do a quick haircut and just walked in. Never stopped going since. It has the quality on par with the more expensive places I've been to without the pretentiousness. The attention to detail is there. You get what you ask for but they will give you suggestions if you're iffy. Sam usually cuts my hair, but if he's gone or too busy the other guys are up to the task. read more

I've been coming here for almost 8 years and over the last 3 or 4, Sam is the reason I keep coming back. He's attentive to the details and takes his time to understand what you want while still getting you in and out quickly without feeling rushed. He remembers your name and preferences and is easy to talk to. With a straight edge touch up and hot towel included, it's also a steal of a haircut for the price. I've been coming here for about two and a half years now and love it. Eddie (the owner) can work miracles with a pair of scissors, and his staff are all pretty good as well. The guy is wicked fast, too. I just came back from a cut and was in and out of there in 15 minutes, including a short wait when I got there. I have been going to Sam every two weeks for the past 3 years. Always an amazing haircut and good conversation. Some of my friends get the $50 haircuts that definitely don't compare.
