He calls a credit union that you dont use and almost forces you to take a payment that you can't afford. He gets a kickback from this credit union, so dont let him change it on you like he did me. He almost forced me to take a truck that was a piece of sh*t by getting it approved from a credit union that I didn't approve of. Trust me, dont go there. Their motto is you can trust us. That's a lie. Don't trust anyone there. Even the finance guy ripped me off by adding a gap insurance policy double of what I asked for. The sign on the wall next to the finance guys office says if you buy it today, dont bring it back tomorrow. Since my last post, the air conditioning went out. I purchased a truck on August 16th, 2024. I am writing to you today to file a complaint about Classic Chevrolet North Inc. in Lake City Michigan. I was greeted by a man named Chad ********. That's when the nightmare began. He seemed nice enough at first. but wait until this nightmare unfolds. I was surfing the net looking for an SUV when I came across Classic Chevrolet in Lake City Mi. They had a nice GMC Terrain. So, I went in to see it, and he told me that it had problems. So, we tried another vehicle. with the money I had to bury because I was upside down my loan, it couldn't get financed. so, he suggested a truck. Then he said, I have just the one for you. so, we went and looked at it. A nice GMC Sierra crew cab. it had scrapes and dents and some rust on it, but all together it looked nice. I learned looks are not everything. He was a hard sell salesman. unknown to me, he switched from ******** Credit Union, which is where I do business, to a Credit Union called Lake Trust. That is a Credit Union that gives salespeople a kick back for bringing them business. During negotiations, I was informed a FEW times that the payment went up and up. The Credit Union kept jacking up the interest rate until I couldn't afford it anymore. I told him no, but he told me it was already approved. So, Me, someone who doesn't like confrontation, I figured I was stuck with it. Then when it went in for signing, they asked me what GAP insurance I want. I told him the $600.00 one. after I got the paperwork back, he put it in for the $1,200.00 one. We took one more look at it and it was in the service area with the wheels off and a man was working on the sunroof. I walked around it, and everything "seemed" alright. They told me they replaced the air conditioner motor and fixed the leak in the sunroof. When I finally got a chance to test drive it, I didn't notice anything other than just a ride down the street. The day I took it home, it shifted a little different, but nothing alarming. 2 days later all heck broke loose. the transmission was banging between 1st and 2nd gear. it would jerk back, and the harmonic balancer was shuddering. I texted Chad the first thing out of his mouth was " you bought it as is". After a few more texts, I accused him of selling me a truck with a bad transmission. His reply to that was "we don't have a "habit" of selling trucks with bad transmissions". Well, you did this time! I took it to Lake transmission in Houghton Lake Mi., and I was told that the transmission needed to be replaced and that some heat sensor was bad, and that the harmonic balancer was bad also. I texted Chad again and bring it in and we'll take a look at it. After previous texts, some of what I don't remember, I figured I was wasting my time. I got screwed big time. I did a lot of research, and the 8-speed transmission had a recall on it, but my truck was not one of them even though it has the same problem as the others that were recalled. That is why I believe they didn't replace it before they sold it. they found a sucker, and that was me. I contacted several transmission shops, and none of the would rebuild it, they wanted to replace it. I did NOT have that kind of money. It would have been Between $5,500.00 and $7,600.00 to be replaced. To my lack of better judgement, I found a company ************ Transmission that would rebuild it for $3,200.00. money I had to borrow from my credit union. So, I had it done and that's when the nightmare continued. Back to Classic Chevrolet. A while back, a clunk started in the front, I took it to Muffler Man in West Branch Mi. They couldn't find it. So, I drove it for a while longer and I took it back because it had gotten worse. This time they found that it was the ball joints. Upon disassembling the brakes, the found they were bad also, and had been for a long time. I had to fix it or not drive it. This cost me $1,699.00. Money, I had to borrow from my credit union again. I was told that driving this last winter, I was lucky I didn't have an accident. The infotainment center also went out. I also need it fixed. I My truck started making an awful engine noise; I called a dealership in Cadillac to schedule an appointment to have my truck inspected; only to be told Classic has a clause in their extended warranty that you can't take your vehicle to another shop within x amount of miles of Classic. After being hosed by the service department before when they charged me $100 for a brake inspection and told me it was normal for new brakes to grind but after taking it to the Cadillac dealership found I had put on the incorrect rotors which Classic would have seen if they actually did the inspection I paid them to do. So I truly did not want to have to deal with their dishonesty again but was forced to. I dropped my truck off to the dealership on 10/30 because it sounded like a tractor, service dept confirmed it was the dreaded 5.3 lifter failure. The extended warrant paid $5,300 for the lifters to be replaced. I picked my truck up on 12/15 and it was making the same noise it was when I dropped it off. I called the following day and they told me to bring it in; I left work to take it to the dealership and as I pulled in the parking lot I turned the power off to the radio so the mechanic could hear what I was hearing. He took it for a test drive, came in and told me he didn't hear anything. I said "well let's go outside and I'll make sure you hear it." We go out, I start the truck and the radio is BLARING! So he drove it for 5 minutes to listen to it with the radio blaring?!? After I aggressively turned the radio back off all of a sudden he could hear the noise. They had me schedule an appointment to drop my truck off on 12/29, I asked if it was okay for me to continue driving my truck with the noise it was making as I was told before by them that it was a good thing I brought it in when I did because it could have destroyed the camshaft. They said it was fine. After I got to work I decided to text before and after videos to the service advisor and advise that I would be taking my truck for a second opinion; then all of a sudden they were able to get my truck in the next day. They replaced a belt and the high pressure fuel pump and said it wasn't making the noise anymore and I could pick it up. STILL MAKING THE SAME NOISE, I took it to 2 other mechanics and they BOTH said the noise I was hearing was in fact the lifters! So it seems as though they charged the warranty company but didn't actually do the repair. I sold them the truck so I never have to deal with these crooks again, took a hit and had to pay additional money to the bank that was owed on the loan. Not surprisingly, they already have it listed for sale, so they didn't even fix the known issue before they sell it to someone else. BUYER BEWARE! read more

My salesman was personable and informative. He listened to my wants and showed me numerous vehicles within my price range. He was patient with me and was accessable on numerous days to accommodate me. It was a pleasurable experience. Paid $35,000 for a Suburban this past fall. Their techs might inspect vehicles but doesn't mean they fixed things. Picked it up with only enough gas to go five miles for gas. Never got the service manual promised. We found things that did not work but paid to get them fixed ourselves. Vehicle appears to have a shady past which will be investigated. Suggestion: If you shop for a vehicle there bring a gas can, body repair specialist and a mechanic. read more

Not trust worthy! Asked to put a deposit on a vehicle, they said they couldn't. I got them my bank approval and just finalizing the deal with the bank. I told them I was taking the banks extended warranty instead, so they wouldn't sell me the vehicle. They said someone else had just put a deposit on it. WHAT?! THEY SAID THAT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO DO WHEN I ASKED TO DO THAT! THEY ALREAY HAD MY BANK APPROVAL FOR THE TRUCK FOR OVER WEEK AT THIS POINT TOO! SHIFTY SHIT RIGHT THERE!! Poor customer service! Not professional. Found a vehicle online through Classic Chevrolet and set an appointment with a salesman to test drive the vehicle. Made arrangements to make it on time. We get to the dealership only to find out that they had accepted an offer on the vehicle. Not once did they notify me of this. I drove out of my way and cancelled other plans to possibly purchase this vehicle. Extremely disappointed. I have heard through word of mouth that they have done this to MANY other people. Bad do not go there. Two bad vehicles in a year. Bought truck year ago and brakes went bad right away. Had to pay 200. 6 months later brakes went really bad had to pay 277 1 week later same squeaking . My husband passed then couldn't renew tags in his name with lien. So went car shopping found nice Arcadia good mileage pur done alot of money on it it is used vehicle. Gave me vehicle but had to bring back had long list of to do on vehicle.. gave a loaner picked up next day. Drove it a few miles squeaking from back brakes turned around took back,they told me to bring back Oct 6th. I was leaving to go downstate and asked if it was safe,he says "I wouldn't let you takebit if not safe" so I started downstate. Got to Midland lights started flashing abs traction control and stability and then damn it wouldn't go like it wasn't getting gas. Got to Flint called them all shook up it scared me I was on expressway Melanie in service rude person said we can't do nothing here's dealerships down there. So here I sit in Merritt no car it's sitting down there at Applegates real nice bought vehicle but can't drive it. I'm ready to go and protest in front of there business. HIGHLY ticked off with this dealership. I had been in contact with these people multiple times in regards to a vehicle we were interested in purchasing. They originally wanted a $3500 nonrefundable down payment to hold the vehicle until we could get there to see it and purchase this vehicle. After multiple calls and emails, my wife took half a day off of work to drive almost 2 hours to look at the vehicle and they would hold it for no charge for 24 hours. My wife gets there and the vehicle that is supposed to have 43,000 miles in fact has 126,000 miles. Apparently there was a mistake when the vehicle was listed for sale, which is where this issue stemmed from. NOT ONE TIME did they tell us about this mistake in any of our phone calls, emails, or discussion about the carfax. They said they assumed we knew about it, even though their website even still showed the vehicle listed with 43k miles. Not only was the mileage wrong but the vehicle that was supposedly really clean and in good cosmetic shape, was actually pretty beat up for a 2011 and dirty. So my wife lost half a days pay to go see this vehicle because they made such a fuss about holding it (other people wanted it). ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!!!! DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE! read more
