I went to go see Nasforatu at 4:10 here on Christmas Day. I was wearing two pairs of pants and a hoodie that was warm enough for me to feel comfortable outside in. After an hour of the movie, I knew that it was so cold I wouldn't be able to make it. I really didn't want to have to come back to the theater to see the rest of the movie, but I knew that I wouldn't be able to stay in the theater for so long because it was so cold. I googled the movie and I saw that I had an hour and 40 minutes left, so I went outside and I complained to the manager and I had him give me a free pass for another day so I would be able to dress much warmer and see the rest, maybe bring a blanket as well. Heated seat did not really do anything to help my comfort. I Will probably come back This upcoming Sunday around 1:00 p.m to see the rest, But this time I will dress much warmer. The lobby between the entrance and where the movie was was about 20 to 30° warmer than inside where the movie was being played So that was kind of misleading. I also have a complaint about the ability to maneuver inside the theater. I am disabled and I have to have a walker with me most times, and unlike meadowview, Paramount does not have buttons that open and close the door for handicapped individuals. This is the first time I've been to this theater by myself in probably about 10 years and I am not coming back to this theater by myself again because I don't have someone to open the door for me. read more

I wasn't pleased by how me and my boyfriend were treated by the worker as soon as we walked in. Without conversation the worker asked for id in a very rude tone and I provided my id but my bf didn't have id on him but had picture proof that he was of age the worker then stated very rudely it needs to be in hand. I understand it's policy but the tone and how he acted towards us was very unacceptable. We definitely will not be returning to this establishment. read more

I used to love going to this movie theater. I will say that the movie theater tends to be clean, and the staff is really nice, i cannot say the same about the management. In front of me the costumer the manager yelled at an employee without any regard of me being there. It was very unprofessional to do that in front of me. I understand when there is a need to tell your employees what they are doing wrong but Infront of a costumer is not work professional at all. I believe the managers name was Tyler. While there i also noticed that he was very friendly to the female worker but not to the male. Which i found quite odd. I will say that the male worker was able to be very nice and helpful whenever i needed a refill. read more

Have been a loyal customer here for years, and whether the movie is good or bad, the customer service is superb! Employees know their jobs well and managers have been quick in helping me with my rewards card. The main theatre #1 is beautiful! 1930's architecture is hard to come by in such good condition, let alone still a public venue. A true timepiece from a different era, still serving the modern moviegoer. Of course some people have had their own bad experiences, but when I got to know the staff, unlike many reviews on Yelp, they really opened up how much they like their job and how some days it's hard to please anyone. I understand customer service jobs don't always hire the best people, but Classic Cinemas has made an effort at Paramount. Last time I was there I saw they got new card and chip readers, self-serve butter and soda stations, amazing recliners (which they've had for a while), and a new manager who was very nice to me. She said she likes how happy the place feels and thinks that's why people like to go there more than other theatres. I agree! read more

Very comfortable seats which I love. And unlike cinemark 10 FREE REFILLS. Which I love and I very much appreciate that. That customer service is good and the employees are very helpful and polite. I highly recommend coming here for movies because it is a very good experience. Never once have I ever been disappointed in this theatre. I have great memories of Paramount Theater growing up. It is one of those classic movie houses. It has the biggest screen in the Kankakee area making it ideal for those Blockbuster movies. Several years ago Paramount added several smaller theaters in the same building to increase the number of movies available. If you go on a weekend evening, get there early. The concession stand is small and the wait can make you late for your movie. read more

This theatre is fun to go too, except when you receive gangster treatment from other attendees. And just for the record, it's not ok to crib walk and clap during a movie. I saw 'The Grudge' there a few years ago, and there were girls screaming, jumping up and down and dancing in a strange Kevin Bacon 'Footloose' type of way during a scary part. It makes the movie much less enjoyable, and you look like a total idiot. Sit the hell down. The paramount needs to move to a nicer neighborhood, and it will be much more enjoyable. Worst experience ever! Website told us my family (of 5!) couldn't RESERVE seats, then the website said the MOVIE STARTED at 11:45 so my family and I drove up here to get denied and told it starts at 1:10 and instead of them asking us for seating they said nothing. Then we wait and go around until 1:00 to show up at the movie theater to get our tickets and my family (OF 5) HAS TO SIT IN THE FRONT ROW BECAUSE EVERYONE GOT TO RESERVE THEYRE SEATS. I went to the theater for the Avengers Endgame opening weekend. I don't think I could have picked a better theater to see it at! Considering the movie was 3 hours long, the big reclining chairs in the main theater were SO comfortable and perfect for that length of sitting. The general manager was out greeting customers, helping us carry our concessions to our seat and making sure everything flowed smoothly (it was a busy night and the bathrooms stayed clean!) The other employees were courteous and kind. And there are tons of delicious seasonings to top your popcorn with! Highly recommend. read more

Had a day free in Kankakee (hey, that rhymes!) so I decided to take in a matinee at the Paramount Theater. Don't let the first glance fool you, folks. My first visit to the Paramount, one of those classic old downtown theaters you rarely see anymore unless they've been converted into art houses or flea markets, was amazing. Friendly staff, low ticket prices, free refills and OH! That Theater 1! It has been refitted with those comfy, extra-plush leatherette seats that are the modern rage these days. The moment I first walked into the theater, with its majestic size and sweep -- just for a moment, but that was more than enough -- I recalled the sheer magic of going to the movies again. The theatre might not seem like much on the outside but I was so shocked when I took my son here to see the new Lego movie! We paid half of what other theaters I've been to else where (Hawaii and Washington) charge and the seats and theater were way better! I've been to several reclining seat theaters and this one is by far the best. The seats are huge, the aisles are huge, it's clean and comfortable. Not to mention the architecture is great, it's an old theater so it just has a great feel and friendly service. We will definitely come again. read more

Great main theater. It is old school classic in appearance, with interesting architectural accents. If there is ever a blockbuster,loud, crazy movie playing, the main theater is the place to see it. Good for kids matinees too. Great sound system, huge screen. The other theaters, 4 I belive, are typical size etc. Free refills on all size drinks and popcorn. Good staff. Had the worst experience ever today which just sucks because I prefer this theatre over all the ones in the area. It's the hottest day of the year, temp in the 100s and decided to go to the movies, for the cool air and good movie. Bought the tickets, bought concessions, and go to the theatre to sit down and it's hot. Stuffy hot, sweat dripping down everyone's faces hot. Go back out to ask where is the a/c. Was told it wasn't working and there basically wasn't anything they could do. Asked for a refund. Got a refund for the tickets, but not the concessions. I understand they wouldn't give us a refund for the concessions even though we hadn't touched them. But they should have told us the a/c wasn't working before we bought our tickets, before we bought concessions. I lost 15 dollars on two drinks and one nacho that I didn't even eat because they didn't give me the option of letting me know that the a/c was broken. This was really unfair and like I said out 15 dollars. EDITED: Thanks for the fast response. As I stated before, I really prefer this theatre over all the other ones in the area. LOVE the Paramount Theatre!! Old-school theater charm at its best. Theater #1 is so pretty and fun to be in. The prices are a breath of fresh air too compared to new theaters these days. I've never had to wait in a line for very long all the employees are fast and friendly. Popcorn is always hot and fresh. Every size of popcorn and pop will be refilled for you for FREE. I believe that would be unheard of at any other theater I have ever been to. Just a great place to catch a movie! read more

This is, hands down, the best theater in Kankakee county. The big screen, theater 1, is the place to go for any major movie you hope to see. The seats are confortable and spacious. True, they are not state of the line, but still far better than anything at Cinemark Movies 10. The wall decor and overall feel of the theater gives you the impression of walking into the past, literally. The other 4 screens are still decent, though in more of a general movie theater experience. The free refills on popcorn and soda, of any size, make this theater a must for any family movie-goers. read more

I love this theater, it's so classic. It's a great place to go see a movie but it isn't in the best part of town. I have never had any issues going there and I prefer it to the other two local theaters. This theater is simply delightful. There aren't many things I like about this area, but I do like this theater. It's like walking back in time. The tickets and concessions are super cheap, EVERY, yes EVERY size of popcorn and pop can be refilled for FREE, and they even bid you farewell with candy as you leave. My only complaint is how the seats are set up - there is a walkway right through the middle of the theater so you can't sit in the middle. But, you get used to it. 5 stars I attended a movie there recently in the afternoon. Employees were courteous, great vintage environment. This theatre is a gem. I grew up in K3 but moved away in the 70s. Kankakee is very fortunate to have an original, restored theatre like this - WE HAVE NOTHING LIKE IT IN ATLANTA AS LARGE AS ATLANTA IS! Atlanta has the Fox theatre but it is mostly a live-performance venue and only rarely shows movies. I hope the community appreciates it and patronizes it often so it can stay open. As far as the neighborhood and possible unsavory customers - this is just an excuse - wake up, and don't let the riff-raff take over!!!! read more

on 1/23/2016 at 430 pm, me, my brother, and sister went there to watch daddys home, we paid for the movie and asked for captioning devices. They were working at the beginning of the movie and then it quit working so when the movie finished I went to the manager and told them that it wasn't working and he didn't even give us our money back or free passes. I'm not coming back to this theater! read more
