Just returned from a movie there. We had a $25 gift card from Fandango we have tried to use on several ocasions in other theaters but eveyone said it was no good. But an employee, Maggie, (I think) took the time to make it work for us this evening.

The volume was loud, but not too loud. The previews last a half hour. And I liked it hen you offered mocha lattes.

They also make the best use of whatever space they choose....and Knights of Columbus was great! Their banquet hall (or, whatever it was) was HUGE. I'm guessing there were about 150 people at the wedding, but it never felt crowded. I don't know if there are restrictions as far as decorating, but my family kept it simple and it worked for them. The ooooooonly thing I thought was going to be a problem was the dance floor, but it was apparently the right size because it was never empty. I did bump into a few people while doing the Cupid Shuffle, but I blame their lack of coordination and not the size of the dance floor. I really didn't know what to expect, but this was one of the nicer reception halls I've been to in awhile. Wasn't expecting this from the outside at all. Not sure if there is a parking lot, but there is plenty of street parking.

The clientele is mostly older folks who keep to themselves - I can't even say locals. There appear to be a few regulars and one brought a large party. They then hogged karaoke on Friday night. Which is their prerogative, they stood in line and that's fine. But my experience was extremely underwhelming. I've been to much more positive places where people interact and there is room to sit, stand, and mingle. Here, you grab a table and try not to make eye contact with anyone else. It's depressing, THERE IS NO BEER ON TAP WHATSOEVER (this is a bar?! really?!), and cramped. Go walk or drive out of downtown if you have to, this is not the place you seek for fun.

This bar is known for its great karaoke, and is full of some of the best singers around! It's been an established bar for a long time, and the people there are very friendly to newcomers who want to have a good time. After 20 years of going pretty much nowhere else in town, I have come to be connected to the crowd, the owner, the whole Out on a Limb "Family". This is one of the few venues in Kankakee that offers a blank canvas for special events ranging…read morefrom birthday parties and weddings to trade shows and more. The outside doesn't show it's age as much as the inside, so depending on your event, be prepared to spend money on decor and lighting to detract away from the ceiling, dingy windows and dusty window coverings and grates for air/heat. I was recently here for a winter wedding so it was really warm with all the people inside and heat on but it was drafty in places. The kitchen is a big convenience if you will have catered food. I recommend preparing food off site and bringing in warming cabinets. There is ample counter space as well should you wish to use that for food prep or organizing things for set up. There is a ramp making this place handicap accessible. Be careful with the step to get in and out though for everyone else. The "WOAH" from guests leaving caused a moment of panic because that could easily lead to a twisted ankle or someone falling if older. I don't recall if there was a label or something on the door already saying "WATCH YOUR STEP" but it wouldn't hurt to make your own nice sign to ensure your guests don't injure themselves.

The ballroom is spacious and versatile in use. The stage is a bit sunken back and removed from the main floor, so a concert of panel discussion would suit the space perfectly. The 5-panel mirrored wall to the upper left of the venue is out of place, yet convenient for certain embellishments. We utilized this wall as a backdrop for the candy table, which gave a visual duplication of the 20+ glass vases filled with goodies. The commercial kitchen and storage room are fully enclosed, allowing catering easy access to event yet privacy for prep. The light hardwood floors prove to withstand a 7-minute Electric Slide session for over 50 people. The capacity of around 300 persons is shy, at best. The foyer with 2 double-door entries on either side allow for a good flow: one door in and traffic flows out the other. Unfortunately, the restrooms are outdated and could use a good coat of paint and decor. Plenty of parking in the left lot of along the street at the head of the grass field. Thoroughly enjoyed my time here, and I'm sure my family would not hesitate to book again.

My husband and I enjoyed a great tour on Father's Day Sunday…read more Suzanne, our interpreter, was very thorough and our tour group was small, consisting of only two other adults--shout out to the couple we met from Downers Grove! The tour was about an hour long and was more about the various families who've lived in the house over the past 110+ years rather than Frank Lloyd Wright himself, which was very interesting. If you're visiting a FLW home, there's a good chance you already know something about him, thus there really isn't need to discuss the architect himself in great detail on this tour. It was sad to hear about the many items original to the house that had been stripped from the walls, etc. and sold over the years. Stained glass windows are still out in the world with various owners, as well as fixtures and furniture, but these items can't be repurchased until the mortgage is paid off. Our interpreter said that Christie's Auctions knows where many of the items are now, so hopefully they can get them back down the road. Another Yelp! reviewer mentioned that some light fixtures and paint colors in the home obviously aren't original and they seemed to be bothered by this. Personally, those cosmetic things didn't matter to me. Upgrades are going to happen over the years. There is a boardroom now, and the home is rented for private parties, weddings, and more. The bills needs to be paid and other sources of income are vital to keeping a home like this open to the public. The $20 per person admission fee felt appropriate to me, given that the entry fee is helping to pay down the last remaining $100k left on the original $1.7million montage. Wow. They've come a long way. Wright In Kankakee (WIK) "is the not-for-profit volunteer organization dedicated to the acquisition and preservation of Frank Lloyd Wright's first prairie style design." All of the volunteers were super friendly and the gift shop had a lot of lovely items for sale. We took a Duffy Electric Boat ride around the Kankakee River afterward. $10 per person for 30 minutes and the ride left from the dock near the Bradley House. All in all, a terrific way to spend and afternoon. Highly recommend.

I had a great tour guide all to myself, which was nice as usually there are many people on tours of Frank Lloyd Wright's buildings. There was a bus load of people leaving when I began my tour.
