NOTE: I worked with Moe Satari at CGM and purchased my countertops via Cabinets to Go. Moe was patient and effective resolving issues created after the wrong color tile was installed for the shower floor and the wrong kitchen sink was delivered to the job site (not CGM errors). Getting the sink originally specified would have delayed our project 6-8 weeks. The incorrect tile color was still great, but required a change to the countertop stone selection. Moe walked me through the CGM slab yard and helped find a countertop slab which worked with the tile in the kitchen and bath and was also an option available for Cabinets to Go clients. I love it even more than my original choice! Moe also worked with the fabrication team and CGM management to find a solution which allowed us to use the sink we had on hand vs. having to re-order. This saved time and money. When white caulk was used in the bath vs. the clear used in the kitchen, the look wasn't what I wanted given the charcoal gray stone chosen. With CGM, I experienced zero pushback and no excuses getting that error corrected promptly and properly. Too bad this approach isn't more typical of those in the construction trades! How a business addresses problems says so much about their integrity and customer service. I'd definitely use CGM for future countertop installations. It was a good experience all around. read more

I contracted at Home Depot with Glassic Granite and Marble (CG&M) as the supplier. The options for viewing were limited at Home Depot, so I went to their showroom where it was much easier to evaluate the product (I chose quartz countertops for my kitchen). Time was a constraint for me and everyone at CG&M was wonderful, most especially Moe! He listened to our situation and desires, then guided us through their warehouse where we found the perfect piece. The installation crew was on time and very professional. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Classic Granite wasted 4 hours of time. They delayed my attic bathroom project by 3 weeks due to a mistake on their part. THEY RUINED THE GRANITE I PICKED OUT by drilling the wrong holes. THEY DIDN'T EVEN REPLACE THE RUINED PIECE WITH THE REPLACEMENT PIECE I PICKED OUT. It's almost as if they intentionally installed the most ugly part of the slab on purpose (without even asking me). Now I'm stuck with an ugly piece, delayed 3 weeks, lost 4 hours of my time, and I paid full price for this disaster. They didn't even ask me how they could attempt to rectify their 2 big mistakes. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- the long story: My first experience was to show up for my appointment and my rep never arrived. 30 min drive there. 30 mins of waiting. 30 mins drive back. Bad first impression. A couple months later, they called me to followup. They apologized for missing my appt and asked me to come in again. I did and made a purchase on the spot for 2 granite installations. On the day of installation, the exotic granite I selected for our bathroom was drilled incorrectly. I called Classic Granite to inform them of their mistake. They took the piece back and assured me they would send pictures of replacement slabs (so I could choose) by the next business day. That didn't happen. So, they're paid in full... and I'm still waiting for my bathroom granite to be installed and wasting my time following up with them. This pushed back our schedule with the plumber and delayed us. I've spent this morning following up (which is supposed to be their job). So far, all I've gotten are excuses about how busy they are. That's not what a customer who has paid in full wants to hear. Not happy at all with Classic Granite. My opinion might change if they rectified their mistake and refunded part of my order to compensate for lost time. So far, all I have from them are promises and excuses while they have my money. UPDATE: A week after they ruined the granite I picked out, they came and installed another piece that wasn't the replacement piece I picked out. CG called and explained "oh there was a fissure in the piece you selected so the fabricators had to cut a piece from somewhere else". And they did that without even bothering to ask me!!! They couldn't have done a worse job if they tried. I would not have purchased this hunk of junk. A rep told me "next time, we'll have to make sure the fabricators check with the client before changing the selection on them". YA THINK?!?!? They couldn't have cut a more ugly piece if they tried. Almost as if it was on purpose. Hope they go out of business. Try Brazilian Best Granite instead. There, I got everything I paid for -- unlike Classic Granite. read more

This is the third time I have used Classic Granite and Marble for a project. Previous projects were to replace kitchen counter tops, install vanity counter top in primary bath remodel and now to install two vanity counter tops in remaining baths. Everything went smoothly and everyone was professional. The designer was very thorough and patient making sure I saw all the slabs I wanted to see and giving me several price options. The scheduling all went well, Andrew kept in touch to see how we were progressing and the installers and plumber called 30 minutes before they arrived. It was a good experience. Our process began with a trip to the show room on Route 60 that contains numerous examples of different kitchen and bathroom surfaces. Over the course of three visits, we met with two friendly and helpful sales associates, saw all of the quartz and granite slabs in stock, learned about the different finishing options, sinks, faucets, and other details, and got answers to all our questions. There was no high pressure selling, and everyone was very flexible in meeting our needs. Incredibly arrogant! I had a horrible experience with a show room sales person who obviously did not want to be there. I realize it was 4pm and they close at 5, but my wife and I merely wanted to browse quickly to get some ideas for our remodel. We contracted with CGM to do our entire 1st floor counters in March after comparing different fabricators + stone yards vs. all-in-one vendors like CGM around RVA. Our initial project manager/sales person (PM- Joe) that was assigned to us was fabulous. He really followed-up with us during the decision making stage & we had at least 2-3 on-site meetings with him to look over various stone, design direction & pricing options. When the project was expected to be at least 2x what we originally build our house with - we wanted to be meticulous & careful about our choices. Finally, we chose Quartzite which has the look of marble but is more durable & much easier to care for. We did get some marble for the master bathroom though - LOL! Then...our CGM PM abrubtly left the company & we were assigned another PM. That was when things kind of fell off the rails. 1) Disengaged project manager: We felt like the replacement PM had a lot balls to juggle (personal & professional) & left us on our own to handle final selection, project scheduling & installation oversight - basically doing ours AND their project coordination. ex: we were even passed to a 3rd PM (fill-in on our project but actually quite a good part time stand-in) on several occasions to work on design choices, final slab selection, payment questions & follow-up fixes. 2) Quality control out of the warehouse was a problem: Small chips & scratches that required additional visits to smooth out (2x). Seems there was not a final review before it left the fabrication area. 3) Lack of direction from PM: With a less than engaged PM, we had no indication that we had to tear out some tiling for the new counters until the installers were putting it in & couldn't make it fit. So this was nearly disasterous as the tiles we have on the wall are no longer imported into the USA! Fortunately, we had barely enough left over from our original build 8 years earlier. But this was a near deal killer if we had to retile the entire wall due to not having replacement tiles because of replacing the counters - what a cluster!! 4) Accountability: Installation team turned off the water in kitchen including potfiller before install. After counters were installed, CGM's subcontracted plumber came out to turn back all kitchen plumbing back on that he knew about. Guess what was not turned on? Potfiller. Called into CGM & install team came out again but didn't know how to turn on the potfiller & what they had turned off. CGM called the plumber & he said not my problem. Finally - we turned to our own plumber- whose phone admin - was able to tell us exactly where to turn the potfiller back on! Right - the person who answered the phone for our own plumber was able to remotely tell us how to do what CGM caused but couldn't fix! Summary: When you spend a large amount of money to mess with your house - you expect a little more professional handholding. Having new counters installed is not an everyday event. We had hope so-called professionals would have provided greater directions so that we could make more informed decisions & budget for contingencies. So while CGM stone selection is good & their pricing competitive - prospective buyers should know that they need to keep on top of EVERY PART of their project as well as doing a lot of prep work to make up for the possbility of a severe shortccoming in customer service. Us having to take on the role of installation manager, design coordinator and problem solvers made the overall experience negative & left us wondering what CGM is really good for besides just having a nice yard of slabs? A lack luster 1/2 interested effort from an all-in-one stone provide/installer is problematic esp. when that bad half is customer service....or lack of. read more
