I was pretty insulted because it was rude AND just bad business practice. My husband is military, so for any other military families that ask, I definitely won't send them here. I went to Wertz Flooring and they not only quoted under what other places had, they gave us FREE samples that we used for exterior doorways AND they came the next day and installed it! Within 18 hours I had my stairs carpeted! Though it…read moreis too early to determine the long term quality of the work and materials I can share my impressions of L&M thus far. So far I am very impressed with this company. They were EXTREMELY patient with us as we took a considerable amount of time making a decision on this project. Tons of emailed questions were answered (we worked with Laurel before she left and then Rosa), helpful information was always provided, and no pressure was ever applied while we made a decision. We made numerous visits to borrow floor samples and they were very good at educating us on the various things to consider when making our decision. The only negative was the amount of time between when we placed the order and when the installation was done. But I suspect the currently environment regarding the supply chain issues is beyond their control. The installers were very professional. The lead guy checked with me to confirm the direction we preferred the planks. Even though the order clearly stated the proper direction for the planks he was given different instructions. HOWEVER, because he was conscientious enough to check with me first BEFORE beginning the install, a potential problem was averted. From what I can tell, the work was done well. I haven't noticed any issues so far. They cleaned up after themselves (both inside and outside). Again, what stood out to me was the professionalism of their sales staff. Perfect balance between following up to make sure we didn't have any unanswered questions and giving us space to make this decision at a pace we were comfortable with. Going back through the emails, we began this process on 11/30/20 and didn't finalize anything until 8/17/21 (that's a long time to work with a potential client with no guarantee of a sale). We had three other companies visit our home to take measurements and provide quotes. L&M was the only company to stay in touch during our decision making process. Sometimes once you have all the data and facts it just comes down to which company gives you the best vibes (including online reviews). My gut said to go with L&M and so far so good.

I gave them half stating you are now my highest estimate, you claim you have been in business 100 years BUT YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO MEASURE FLOORS? I wrote paid in full. They scratched it out, cashed the check & took me to court. At Xmas, wanted my house finished. Black lady judge said that by me allowing them to put the clear coat that a verbal contract outweighed a written contract in the state of Virginia. So I paid them the other half in court, in front of the judge. They reported unpaid on my credit for the next 7 years. I had my lawyer send them letters. I called the courts, it done no good. I got to explain it every time i applied for something, i had excellent credit other than them. So they got free advertising. (We would have gone with the unfinished/sand/finish option if we could have, which is what they recommended). Good communication. They showed up when they said they would show up and finished when they said they would finish. The entire job went from Mon.-Thurs with a lot of that time was wait-time after staining/sealing of the stairs. The prices were very reasonable and we will certainly call them again when we refinish the floors downstairs.
