We take our westie here because his coat requires handstripping and we love the outcome. Whereas before dirt would constantly stick to his coat, it now mostly brushes out and he can go longer without a bath (every 3-4 weeks vs every other week). I brought my standard poodle Thelma in to be groomed for the first time ever. After some really bad experiences (injury being one of them and just really jacked up cuts being the other) at other groomers near me with my other standard poodle, I did a lot of research before deciding to bring her to classic grooming. After speaking with Ron and scheduling my appointment I felt at ease. When I dropped her off her groomer talked to me at length about what I wanted and what she thought she could achieve. I came to Classic Grooming to have my dog's haircut; however, upon walking in the front door, I was met by a very unpleasant man. To put it simply, Ron has an extremely bad attitude. He talked down to me the entire time and acted as though he thought he was above me, even talking over me when I would try to speak. He then proceeded to look at my dog and ask me in a demeaning tone "has your dog ever even had a professional haircut?" First of all, who ask this type of question to a customer? But more importantly, I am at a groomer. I am not going to wash and brush my dog's hair to ensure she looks perfect simply to drop her off at the groomer to have her hair washed and brushed. That would completely defeat the purpose of going to the groomer. As if this wasn't bad enough, I asked to speak to the groomer who would be working with my dog in order to discuss how I wanted my dog's hair cut, but was told she wasn't in yet. This made absolutely no sense to me. I was specifically told to drop my dog off no later than 8:30, but yet the groomer isn't scheduled to come in until 9? I am unsure how they anticipate I would communicate to the groomer the specifics of what I wanted without actually being able to talk to her. Moreover, this place will price gouge you to no end. I have no problem paying a premium for something I want; however, I will not be taken advantage of. When making an appointment, there was never any mention of charging $1 per minute to brush my dog's hair in addition to the grooming charge. However, upon arriving, Ron attempted to come up with random prices to start charging me. I find these additional fees bizarre and extreme, as I have never been charged additional grooming fees at any other groomer for basic grooming needs. Furthermore, I highly recommend you fully and carefully read the contract Classic Grooming requires you to sign. As someone who recently graduated from law school, I am very familiar with liability waivers; however, I do find it extreme Classic Grooming is putting the customer in a position to sign a contract stating Classic Grooming is not liable for any negligence on its part or for any injuries or death it may cause to your pet. Yes, that's right, Classic Grooming requires you to sign a contract agreeing to not hold them liable if they kill your pet. I absolutely will not sign something so extreme, allowing them to act in any manner they choose to without any liability on themselves. Needless to say, after experiencing this treatment, I was unwilling to leave my dog here and thus, wanted my personal documents back in order to leave. I did not think nor anticipate this situation getting any worse, but I was wrong. When I asked Ron to please give me my personal documentation so I could leave, he refused. It escalated to the point of me pulling out my phone and dialing the number to call the police before Ron tore apart my documentation and handed it over to me. After enduring this brutal experience, it's obvious Ron has absolutely no respect for others. He is extremely rude and acts as if he is doing you a favor by allowing you to be there. In no way will I give my business to someone so disrespectful or allow him to be in possession of my dog. read more

The name "Classic Grooming" should be replaced with the title "Show Dog Grooming," since that is exactly what they expect of each dog that walks into the salon. Although they made our little puppy look pretty they definitely made us a little self-concious of the way we were grooming our puppy (even though this is our first dog). For $65 with tip we received a mini- groom, which did not even include any cutting or plucking of the ears (which was the most important service we needed them to perform). Basically they bathed and brushed out all of the "knots" that were in our puppies' hair. When we went to pick him up we were criticized for our inability to brush him properly, which resulted in all of the knots that he had in his hair (Kind of bumped our egos down a couple of notches). We were also feeling a little bummed out by the fact that our initial estimation of $40 for a mini-groom was increased to $50 because of all of the knots that they had to brush out. In retrospect, I would have only taken my dog here if I were more concerned about his first experience at a groomers being positive, which is exactly why they said they did not perform the extra services on our puppy (They did not wan him to have a negative experience). When I take my dog to the groomers I expect them to perform all of the services that they are paid to do and not be so concerned with hurting the dogs feelings. I bring my 12 year old chihuahua to Classic Grooming for a haircut and grooming 3-4 times per year. I have taken my dog to other groomers through the years, but nothing beats the experience we receive here. The staff is extremely nice and welcoming every time. I think Ron and his team are the absolute best! My dog always leaves looking and smelling great. He seems to have a great time and is always happy when I arrive to pick him up. Just found our new favorite groomers! Could not be more pleased with our dogs' cuts or the friendly staff that works there. Today was our first time at Classic Grooming and we will definitely be doing back. A little bit pricier than the old groomer but absolutely worth it in my opinion. I just picked up my Old English Sheepdog, Dudley for a grooming appointment since we moved to Charlotte at the end of July. We were warmly greeted by Ron (the owner) and Melissa right when I dropped him off. Ron explained the process, asked what I was looking for in his cut and was honest up front that time spent taking mats out was an additional $1/minute. Having an OES, mats are inevitable because of their thick coat even though we do spend time brushing him out. I sent photos of how I usually like the length of his coat to be and they cut him almost identical to the photos I sent earlier in the day. The price was higher than what I'm used to paying in Chicago but they really did a great job in grooming Dudley. The staff is knowledgable and Ron couldn't have been nicer along the process. Our puppy just loves the TLC she receives at Classic Grooming, and we appreciate their knowledge, experience, and kindness. She was traumatized when we brought her to a pet care chain. She was shaking and staring blankly, just bewildered, with a bad hair cut. We didn't know there was a difference, but we found that out quickly when we brought her to Classic Grooming. I took my Kerry Blue Terrier to Classic Grooming to see Stephanie. She did an amazing job...my girl never looked better! However, that's where the love affair stops. Ron, the owner, acted as though he was doing us a favor by allowing us through the door. The 3 or 4 times we had appointments he met us with his fine tooth comb and proclaimed that my girl was "matted" and that there would most certainly be an "extra" charges. Classic Grooming has been great. It's a convenient location for drop off/pick up, especially since the small yard around the front entrance is gated (so smart) and it's in a side road. It is a bit pricey, but I've tried several groomers and this is my favorite so far.... sometimes in life you get what you pay for and I'm willing to pay a bit more to feel comfortable with where I'm leaving my dog. The people are lovely and my dog comes home happy and groomed perfectly. I mentioned to them that he has sensitive skin so they use some shampoo for that and it works great (other places he comes home and chew himself for days). Her previous grooms had been a bit mediocre and a bad hair-cut was the last straw at her previous groomers. We have been taking our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Olivia to Classic Grooming for about 3 years now. They do an exceptional job with her haircut and she always smells amazing for days after her bath. Classic is a drive for us from southpark area, with traffic it can take us an hour just to drop her off. We have tried other places that were closer and they have failed miserably with ridiculous haircuts that they tell us is the 'cavalier cut'. Classic gets it right, every time. Their pricing is also very fair. I do not find they are any more or less than other grooming places that don't do as nice of a job. Olivia is always excited to go in so I know they treat her like a princess. Making an appointment is convenient and around the holidays they work so hard to get the dogs in for you.
