Everything he's altered has held up perfectly over the past few years, even pants that he hemmed that I wear multiple times every week! Pant hems are only $10 a pair, which is awesome because then I can just buy pants that fit me in every other way and have the length adjusted later- it's been a lifesaver! Quick, professional, reasonably priced tailoring! Came here to take up the hem and open a side slit on my lace wedding reception dress + take in a top that was way too loose. Very happy with the hem of my double-layered (lace + lining) reception dress, and he did excellent work on creating the classy side slit as well. The fit of the top was also perfect. Service: Safi is a delight to work with. He is kind, professional, and takes pride in his work. I've been to Elegant Tailoring a couple of times and had dresses hemmed up and been really happy with the service. The cost was a little higher than other places I've been to (the first dress cost $20 and the second had a fuller skirt and was $25) but I don't mind that cost for the service. Both dresses were quoted to take a week and came in on schedule. The woman who received me was nice, pinned the dress, and sent me on my way. I had to call back and have them wait on the alterations until I could confirm the hem length. She was really understanding and promised that no one would touch the dress until I called back and confirmed the length. I haven't had a more extensive tailoring job yet but I have a couple that I plan to bring in. read more

I took a spill on some ice and tore and scuffed up a new suit the first day I wore it. Luckily my credit card had some sort of insurance that covered accidents like this, as long as a tailor would attest that the suit was beyond repair. I took it in to the tailor here and, after looking it over, he confirmed that it was beyond help. He wrote me a letter and refused to accept any payment for his time, even after I insisted. I bought a suit that fit pretty well but i needed it a little tailored to make it perfect. They were able to handle me as soon as i walked in and got it all measured and pinned up. When i picked it up it was great! So hard to find suit pants that fit well and they made them fit perfect. I believe the full price to touch up the jacket and fix the pants was 65.00 so a little on the high side but they did a great job. Worth the money. read more

I needed a fast alteration done on my new coat that i had bought, with wool ribbed cuffs (which I was allergic too) 5 days before my trip to Sweden and I call Classic Tailors. I spoke with Safi he said he could have it done in 3 days, well before leaving for trip. I brought in the coat in and ribbing material i wanted for cuffs and it was done in three day. He must have read my mind because they were exactly the way i wanted them to be, just long enough for me to pull them out and stick my hands in them or tuck them under coat sleeves, they were better than i ever could have imagined and perfect for the Ice Hotel. At first, I wasn't sure what to expect since the location was very understated, but these worries were quelled quickly after meeting the owner and tailor Safi. I had a pair of wool trousers and a Burberry London dress shirt altered. They were hemmed and cuffed; and slimmed down in both the body and sleeves, respectively. After explaining what I wanted, I was meticulously measured for both pieces, and Safi understood exactly what I wanted. After waiting only a week to receive my clothes, I found that both articles of clothing fit amazingly. Not only was Safi extremely professional but also the prices were very fair for the speed and quality of work done. I would argue that the quality was just as comparable as tailors in NYC for literally half the price and a small fraction of the waiting time. After I picked up my clothes, I asked about potential future suit alteration prices. Since I'm very particular, I was immediately relieved to hear that the alterations would not be too much. For potential customers, the prices I asked about were as follows: - Trouser hemming: $10 - Trouser hemming AND cuffing: $15 - Shirt body AND sleeves take-in: $25 - Suit jacket body take-in: $25 - Suit jacket sleeves tapering: $40 - Trouser waist take-in: ~$15 (can't recall the exact number) All in all, Safi's business is second-to-none with his high-quality work, competitive prices, short turn-around time and amazing professionalism. Safi did an amazing job tailoring my dress for my engagement photo shoot. He paid great attention to detail and was throrough in taking the measurements to make sure that my dress would end up perfect. When I picked it up, I tried them on and was blown away. My dress was not only beautiful, but the alterations were beyond what I expected. Overall, I paid ~$85 for my dress alterations, which I thought was reasonable given the amount of work that it needed. I've had multiple alterations done at Classic Tailor over the years and was always pleased. Recently, they were able to significantly alter dress for my daughter to wear in a wedding. The dress has sequins and was too large in several places. I wasn't even sure it would work, but the owner was thoughtful in his consultation and we gave it a try. We couldn't have been happier with the result. The alterations aren't even perceptible. The dress just fits perfectly! Safi does wonderful work and makes sure it is done correctly. I have only gotten bridesmaid dresses altered but he has done a great job with each one. The first time I miscommunicated when I needed the dress and he stayed late to make sure it got done before my flight the next day. The most recent time I was there I tried on the dress and he wasn't happy with the hem so he kept the dress to fix it. I didn't even notice that it wasn't right. He also was able to fix a dress so that my 5 month pregnant belly fit into an original size 2! read more

If you just need to hem your trousers this may be a good place to go. This is not the right place if you want to make sophisticated change of your gown. I need my Vera Wang gown altered at length and at the shoulder strip. He clearly told me that he can only do the length but not the strip. Then he changed his mind and told me he can do both and asked me for over $100! When I asked if this is the price he normally charge, he told that he did charge 20% more than the regular price because I need the dress in one week (I brought the dress in on Friday and needed it next Saturday). When I asked for more details of how he would make change on the shoulder strip, he changed his mind again and told me he doesn't want to do this. During the whole visit he didn't do any measurement on the length or on the shoulder strip. His attitude confused me a lot, but I'm glad he decided that he's not going to do this, because I was able to find another tailor in the same area that can do both the length and strip in one week at a much more reasonable price! read more
