I will add my 1-star review (I would leave zero stars if I could) along with all the other 1-star reviews on here for Classic Vapor Dry Cleaners in Capitola. I dropped off a dress with stains and was told that they could not 100% guarantee that they can remove stains. The dress returned with the exact same amount of stains, as if it had not even been treated. I told the woman at the counter that the stains were the same and she said "remember I told you we don't 100% guarantee" and I said "but you are still charging me 100% of the price?". Answer: "yes". I told her I wouldn't be returning which was a shame as I am new to the area and would have been a regular customer; she answered "no problem". No problem, indeed. Bye bye. Clearly customer retention is of zero interest to them--and also to reiterate a previous review--I had to go 3 separate times to find them open---always a sign saying "on a break, back in 10". Total joke. Millions of other cleaners out there. Avoid this one. read more

I rarely have my clothes pressed but I will never patronize this business ever again. would not recommend at all. When you go to pick up your clothes they are not open. This cleaner has always seemed sketchy to me but when my favorite cleaner retired, I decided to try them out. I was impressed with their software system which sends texts when clothes are ready. I got my clothes back fine a couple of times. Then I got a white Margaret O'Leary sweater back with huge yellow stains on it. They look like burn stains to me. The stains are on the front and the back, and were not there when I dropped the item off. I promptly brought the item in as soon as I opened my dry cleaning. But the business will not even attempt to re-clean it. I bought the item last summer for $165. I will never use this cleaner again and I will encourage my network of contacts to do their business elsewhere as well. I was told by the apologetic woman who works the counter that her bosses Pamela and Vanessa were in charge of making the decision to ignore the problem. Negative Stars On 1/31/14, I went to Classic Cleaners to drop off a dress that I needed for a wedding I was officiating that Saturday. The woman at the front desk informed me that because my dress was two colors (black and white) that I had to sign a waiver since they would not be responsible if the manufacturer of the dress didn't dye it correctly. I saw no reason why the dye would run and signed the waiver having no choice since I needed the dress ASAP. The woman did not indicate to me how much it would cost and handed me my slip for pickup at 6pm the next day. When I glanced down and read the price I was a bit shocked. $11.75 seemed steep but here I was in a hurry. The next day I arrived to find the woman from the front desk having her "smoke break" out front. She quickly finished and helped me inside. And as luck would have it, my dress was ruined. She stated that the Owner could provide me a letter that I could mail to the manufacturer to get my money back for the dress. I asked her for the said letter and she stated that someone would "call me". I left my name, email, full address and phone number. The wedding I officiated was Feb 1st. On 2/19/14, I finally received a phone call from Tanya from the front desk. She indicated my voice-mail had been full therefore her inability to leave me a message prior. In her message she stated that "first I have to go to the manufacturer, and if they don't reimburse me , then I will get a letter from Classic Cleaners. This was the exact opposite of what she told me on 2/1/14 when I picked up my dress. Why would I not be able to get a letter first from Classic cleaners if they are so sure they weren't the ones who ruined the dress? It is clear from the other yelp reviews as well as my own experience that this is not a quality establishment and should be reported to the Better Business Bureau. It's unfortunate because I am new to Capitola and this place is walking distance from my home. I do not recommended this establishment and will be taking further garments elsewhere. I took a sequin dress in and had to sign a waiver. I paid $22 to have my dress cleaned and when I got it home, a good part of the sequins were gone or hanging off the dress. I was so disappointed. I had to give the dress to Goodwill. I do not recommend this cleaner for delicate expensive items. I will look elsewhere. read more

PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT In October I brought my pants to vapor cleaners to have the pleats made to look crisp. I brought the pants back into Vapor cleaners to have this done again. The gentleman at the counter was not really listening to me. So I clarified to him that in October Vapor made the pleats crisp on these exact pants and asked "do you see a note in the system from last time?" He replied that he did see the note and that the pants would be ready in two days. When I was emailed they were ready the next morning I called to check on the pants since last time it took a few days, Victoria answered. I asked her to check to see if the pleats were made to looks crisp. She then apologized and that there was a miscommunication. They thought that I wanted the pleats taken out of the pants so they removed them. I said no, I definitely want the pleats in that's what I told the gentleman at the counter. She replied that it is not his fault, he has only been here three days and it was a miscommunication. I replied that I understand that it is their mistake, however could the pants be fixed? Victoria said that there was no one currently there that could tell her if they could be fixed, however they are magicians and she thinks that they can. I asked her to call when the cleaners were in. Victoria later called and said that the cleaners are not willing to press out each of the lines since it would take too much time and cost $2.30 per fold over. I responded that since Vapor cleaner's negligence ruined my pants how would I be compensated for them. She said that there was nothing that Vapor would do and that the pants are not ruined. Victoria would not put a manager on the phone and said one would call me, this never happened. When I arrived to pick up the pants, Victoria happily greeted me until she realized that I was "the girl with the gold pants." The tune then changed. When I saw that the pleats were almost completely taken out and I asked why they didn't put them back in. Victoria told me that this is how the pants came into the cleaners. She looked at me in the face and 100% LIED from what she had originally said on the phone. She then told me that she had checked the security camera footage to prove this. I told her again, that Vapor was the one that made the pleats crisp in October and I had only worn them once since, there was no way that all the pleats just came out on their own. Victoria then asked where did you buy the pants and I said, "in a high end vintage store in LA." She said well then they are not the same pants because we have a note in our system that you brought in pants that were from Nordstrom. I then said okay then let's take a look at the security footage from when I brought them in in October because they are the same pants. She then with an anxious and guilty face told me that the footage was locked in the manager's office so we could not look at it. At some point in the conversation I referred to the pants as "perfect" Victoria then got angry and snarky and said that the pants were old and had a rip in them so they are not perfect pants. I said that since they are vintage, therefore I agree they are old and I know there is a small rip, however that does not mean they are of any less value to me and that doesn't have anything to do with my point which is that the pants are ruined because the pleats are gone. After Victoria raised her voice and repeatedly degraded my pants saying they were old and imperfect. An older gentleman who worked there made an effort to stop Victoria from her rant and said that there is nothing they can do at this point I would need to come in and talk to Pamela, the owner. It is extremely unsettling to have someone lie straight to your face and then defend their lie by telling you it doesn't matter since your pants are of low value, this is not Victoria's place to judge. This is unacceptable, unprofessional and offensive. I was unable to leave work on Monday so I called at the time I was told to be there. Pamela was immediately very defensive on the phone and said that Victoria would never have told me that they took the pleats out. She then explained that their cleaning process can strip the material out of the pant that holds the pleats in place and when you clean old material this is part of the risk, therefore the pleats were damaged in their cleaning process. I asked her "if vapor cleaners can look at an old vintage fabric and identify that the pleats would have a risk of coming out in the cleaning process wouldn't it be the right thing to do to tell the customer?" She agreed and said she would give her employees more training. Pamela is now lying out of two sides of her mouth. She is saying that the cleaning process took the pleats out, but also that I brought the pants in like that. There is absolutely not an ounce of integrity or accountability to be found at Vapor cleaners. read more

I've brought a lot of dry cleaning to the Aptos and Capitola stores over the past 2 1/2 years. My clothing has been misplaced or lost numerous times. When I've asked someone at the store for help, they always promise to follow up and then I never hear from them again. Most recently, they lost a pair of black cashmere gloves for which I paid $79. Three times I came in to find out whether they were found and all three times the same scenario. Since then, I have not returned, and I will not return. They recently sent me an email about how important their customers and quality service are to them. Really?? If you're going to make that claim, you should make sure that you are truly doing your best to care for your customers belongings. I'll be taking my dry cleaning business elsewhere. This past week I picked up a suit for my husband and the inner lining of the jacket was torn in two places and the hem out of one of the slacks. The suit looked like it had been in a tug of war with a dry cleaning machine. I brought this to the attention of the clerk and was told they have no responsibility for any damage to clothing. Unbelievably bad service! Don't take your clothing here unless you are looking forward to spending an entire day relocating each and every piece of your clothing from their various locations. We took a few dresses and shirt to them for dry cleaning and when we went to pick them up we noticed that one of the dresses was missing and only the slip was returned to us. They located it but it was at their downtown location. We went to pick that up an they didn't even apologize. Then we get home to find that the belt to another dress is missing. We call and they very casually say " oh we will look for it and call you when we find it". When I called back they say they have a belt there but they are not sure it's mine. So now I have to drive back to downtown Santa Cruz to pick up yet another piece and all this while trying to leave town for a wedding. And again, no apology. This is by far the worse dry cleaning experience I have ever had and will never ever patronize this establishment again. read more

WARNING: if you don't have a receipt for every item that you take to Classic Cleaner's and they "lose" it, you will not be getting the original price in which it's worth. Who hangs on to receipts for every item when taking it to a laundry mat? Should be titled, Classically Bad Business. My family and I have been doing business with them for years. Just recently, I took my comforter in to get it cleaned before the winter season.The day I came to pick it up they gave me the wrong one. I came in to return it the very next day with the tag and receipt still in hand and attached to the wrong comforter. They clearly agreed with me that it was indeed the wrong one yet they would look into it and let me now. After two months of them "figuring it out", they had called me once! In the mean time, I was calling them on a weekly basis! Finally, after taking the matter in my own hands and gathering information to file with small claims court, they informed me that there is nothing they can do but refund my $30 in which I had originally paid to get it cleaned. Mind you, this was a $300 comforter that I got as a gift no more than a year old! I Though I was extremely upset, I chalked it up as a learning experience and would not spend any more time and energy taking it to small claims court - just not worth it. The lack of communication that Pamela, the "manager", gave me and the disregard in my years of doing business with them/her was unbelievable. She was also extremely difficult to reach and had a laundry list of ridiculous excuses for not getting back to me... pathetic place and managing skills. Third and final time that I've asked that my shirts be pressed and heavily starched and it hasn't happened. No creases on the sleeves, no starch, and wrinkly looking shirts. To be honest it's ok that she didn't know how if she wasn't running a dry cleaners.
