My wedding was going to be 80% non Korean guests while the other 20% was either Korean church…read moremembers or friends of our parents. I needed an MC who can speak both languages PERFECTLY and be able to entertain our guests during the wedding reception. Where else to turn but Yelp? Luckily I found couple of MC's on Yelp who specializes in weddings and being able to speak both languages fluently. Although Johan wasn't my very first choice, he became my MC because of his fast response and eagerness to perform at our wedding. As a bride without a wedding coordinator, I was very busy dealing with all the different vendors and all the details that goes into a wedding. Future brides, invest in a wedding coordinator if you are NOT having a wedding at a restaurant or have more than 100 guests. Otherwise, you'll end up doing all the work where it's very crucial that the vendor you're interested responds back to your inquires within 24 hours. If Johan didn't respond back to my phone calls or emails within 48 hours, I would've moved on to someone else. However, he was very good at responding back to me and I knew he was the one who would take care of things without having me worry too much. When we met him for the very first time, we both liked his personality and how easy going it was to work with him. We talked about how he'll approach the audience and what types of jokes or games or etc he'll do to gain the "Korean" guests attention throughout the reception. I liked Johan's tactics on the types of games he'll have everyone participating and how those games will flow into our cake cutting time where ALL the guests will be watching us cut the cake! It was very important that the guests don't just eat and leave. Koreans tend to just eat and take the centerpiece and leave the reception even before the cake cutting. Johan first suggested how he's going to come up with the timeline so that no one leaves until the reception is over. Couple weeks later after that meeting, we decided that it's best to have professional lighting at the reception so that our pictures come out better. We had spent more of our wedding budget on our photographer (aside from the food of course) so it was crucial that the photographer had good lightening to work with. Johan also has a team that does lighting and it was convenient to do both the MC and lights through his company. On the day of the reception, I was approached by both Korean guests and friends about how they loved the MC! Everyone was blown away by his singing voice and was very impressed by his performance. At first the guests thought that he was LIP singing but quickly realized that this was his real voice singing LIVE. You want Johan to SING AT YOUR WEDDING!!!! For the most part, all the games grabbed everyone's attending and guests were having a great time. Although the day was a blur to me, I was able to revisit the day by looking through the photo's and seeing the guests laughing and having a good time (See photo) That itself is priceless and anyone having a wedding should definitely invest in hiring Johan as your next MC and consider having professional lighting done at your reception. Trust me, both of these would make a HUGE difference and you won't ever regret having to spend $$$ on these two important things. Spend less on your wedding dress and tux and skip the wedding favors. Johan was so great with communication even though he was in LA and we were in SJ and knew exactly how to plan out the reception timeline, games, toasts, music, etc etc.. One of the winning factors was that he was a bilingual Korean wedding MC - as the wedding catered toward 40% Korean speakers and 60% English speakers. On the day of the wedding, we were actually all blown away because he started out singing to quiet the guests before the wedding party entrance and completely WOW - ed the crowd.. I mean.. WOW!!! I also appreciated the fact that Johan was able to time the reception and mood of the guests and change things around accordingly.
