Ok, so I was a huge Chicken Corner fan and was truly bummed when I heard they closed. My brother told me this place had CC like chicken. I finally had a chance to come to town to try. Chicken was great!! Unfortunately, we ordered delivery and requested the 6-Pack (Six pieces chicken, six ribs and six shrimp) plus a side of mashed and gravy. Gravy is awful. Really. We only got five pieces of chicken. One breast. Two thighs. One wing. One one emaciated, over cooked leg. We did get a bunch of ribs, and a tray of shrimp. Not six jumbos, but a dozen little ones. I tried Claudie's on a whim in the interest of being able to say I've eaten Middletown's (only?) gas station chicken and was shockingly pleased with the result. I cannot say much to the service as another member of my family picked it up, but I can speak to the spectacular crunch and flavor of the breading on the surprisingly fresh pieces of meat. It packed a true punch of flavor so much so that I would nominate this chicken as a competitor to that of the Keyport Diner. I ate this after work, after it had been sitting in my refrigerator for over two hours and STILL had a fantastic, pleasurable experience with this meal. The mac and cheese lacked flavor; this is my only contention. However, as mentioned, I was judging cold mac and cheese (which is hardly fair). Another member of my family had the fried fish which seemed to me a bold move at a gas station establishment, but even she spoke highly over her choice. I will definitely be back. Guy that answered phone was really rude to start off. Saying "are you on speaker I can't understand you!" So I actually had to explain to him that my phone was broken and I had to use my Bluetooth which I shudnt have to do. 1st time eating at this new establishment in our town (matawan) and definitely delivered. We ordered the chicken dinner for two. The chicken was moist and juicy and the batter the chicken was fried in was perfect. The breading was not too thick and the seasoning was tasty. I liked that they gave u one of each part of the chicken. The fries were good too just needed a little more salt. The service was quick and friendly. This place is very unassuming, since it just seems like a convenience store in the Sunoco gas station, but what an awesome place. My family & I had heard some great things, so we decided to try it out this past weekend. We ordered their 12 piece bucket of fried chicken, and it was honestly some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. It was made fresh and packaged perfectly so that it was still warm when we got it home. The chicken itself was super moist and the seasoning they used for the batter was excellent. I am so happy we found this place. Every so often we like to have good fried chicken, not the type you would find in a fast food chain but really good, not too greasy, nice and crisp fried chicken and this place has it in spades, along with so many other tasty offerings. However, I came across claudies chicken and decided to go in... Let me tell you, I had the absolute BEST time. I not only loved the owner, Craig, and his partner, Kathy, but they made me feel beyond special. As I ordered and waited for my food to be cooked, they actually took an interest in me and the community. This is a family run business that we as consumers should promote and support!! The time flew by and when I got my chicken, corn fritters, and onion ring, my family was praising me! Everything was absolutely amazing! I won Mom of the month with one meal... I'll take it! We ordered two of the Family Value Packages to feed a family of four and to ensure leftovers. We really enjoyed the spare ribs because they were so tender and flavorful, and we'd definitely recommend them. We also enjoyed the fried shrimp. Although the shrimp are small, they are not at all dry and they have a very good flavor. The fried chicken was good and exactly what we expected. Our entire family loves bread, and we unfortunately found the rolls to be very doughy, so we disliked them. One of our Family Value Package meals was supposed to come with french fries, and we requested that we substitute the fries for mashed potatoes. Although we were told that we could have the mashed potatoes instead of the french fries when we placed our phone order, we still received the french fries, which was disappointing. Oddly, although the mashed potatoes are mentioned in various places on the menu, they are not priced in the "side orders" section of the menu. The biggest problem we experienced was that each of the two Family Value Packages we ordered was supposed to come with a 1/2 pound of salad, so we specified the potato salad and the macaroni salad when we placed our phone order. However, when we got our order home, we found that the salads were not packaged with the rest of our order. We were really looking forward to having the two side salads with our meal, and since the salads were included in the price of the Family Value Packages, we felt that we were shorted. With the high price of take-out food, we think it's important for restaurants to check orders for completeness before giving them to customers. We ordered a side of the apple fritters for a little dessert, and we would not recommend those. Each of the ten apple fritters is just a single slice of apple that has been breaded and deep fried, and the order was not served with any powdered sugar sprinkled on them.
