This is my favorite pizza place in the area. Love the Tony Sausage (spicy!) and the classic Margherita. The crust is thin and chewy and a little smoky and the toppings are always fresh. The coal fired wings with Gorgonzola sauce are also great. Would I give this place 5 stars if it was located in NYC? Probably not. For the Middletown area, though, it's the best. read more

First time here, I've driven passed it countless times without realizing that it was a small pizza restaurant tucked in the corner of a very small strip mall. Today my daughter wanted pizza. She's been away at school and said that good pizza is nonexistent in Florida, unless it's a chain like Dominos. So we searched and we found this small and clean place with good reviews and our very nice wait staff named Veronica. We had a quick lunch which consisted of a large margarita pie with vodka sauce. We also ordered triangle shaped fried mozzarella. The breading on the mozzarella as well as the sauce was very good. My daughter loved the pizza but I can't say I was a big fan of the vodka sauce. It was my first time having it. I prefer the margarita with tomato sauce and I think that's what I will order the next time that I visit again. I did love that the pie was thin crust, but it arrived a bit burnt. I'll have to request that my pie not arrive burnt. I will be returning to try other items. read more

Pizza was pretty good despite them sending me the wrong one. Could have used more sauce. As for the cheesesteak I ordered with mozzarella and again what they sent me was with cooper. So wrong as well. The cooper shredded is no good in my opinion compared to their sliced, places use this version because it has a ton of preservatives/shelf life and is insanely salty. I digress still not what I ordered. May have been ok if they sent it with the mozzarella I had ordered. From the reviews their other location has had wrong item order issues. Perhaps their system. I haven't been here in a year, and decided to go for some pizza today. I ordered the Carrol Gardens and half margarita with extra cheese pizza. Today the pizza was disappointing. It was undercooked making it soggy in the center of the pizza. I paid for extra cheese and there was no extra cheese. They use to pack the Carrol Gardens pizza with vegetables, but today the toppings seemed skimpy. I'm not sure if this was an off day. read more

We came here one day after work and were immediately seated after arriving. The restaurant is medium in size, with square-shaped crystal chandeliers hanging over the tables, booths situated in the corners, and warm orange walls. An orange wall separates the front dining area from the back and paddle-shaped menus hang in the corners as well. We ordered the following: Arugula Salad, which has arugula, feta cheese, walnuts, beets with balsamic vinaigrette dressing. We got the walnuts on the side because of allergies. Hubs thought it was the best item on the table for the night. Daughter liked it and thought it was nice and crisp. Personal pesto, which is fresh and shredded mozzarella, artichokes and fresh garlic with homemade pesto. We were really disappointed with this. The presentation left a lot to be desired. We've had it in places where the pesto was drizzled upon serving. The pesto on this pizza was baked. Hubs said that we couldn't taste the basil and artichoke and thought it was a green mess. 18th ave feast personal pizza size, which has margherita pie with sausage, roasted red peppers and onions. Hubs liked this better out of the two. He said that he usually doesn't like meat on the pizza but if you put onions in it, he's happy. LOL. Daughter liked this a lot. Hubs ordered unsweetened iced tea and got it sweetened and returned it back. Server went to check and couldn't figure out why they put sweetened iced tea under the unsweetened spigot. Hubs decided to get water instead. At the end, they still charged us for the sweetened but Hubs pointed it out. Even though the place had quite a few workers, it was only one person serving all the tables. The rest of the staff were just standing around minus the couple of chefs working. There's also a convenience fee of 3.5% for those who pay with credit card. It's deducted if you pay in cash. We've been here in the past and thought it was okay. My fiancée wanted to try Zoni's because they offered a gluten-free crust. We came here with some friends and ordered the fried calamari, large buffalo wings, fried mozzarella triangles, vongole, the BQE and 2 Princess Margheritas (reg and gluten-free). Our waitress was very nice and very communicative. The space was nice as well. Overall, everything we ordered was very good. The only critiques I have are there was a longer than expected wait time between the apps and pies and the buffalo wings were a bit spicier than I expected. I had just ordered the vodka sauce pie from Prince Street Pizza in NYC and really enjoyed it, so decided to try theirs. Delicious. I could definitely taste more of the vodka sauce in Zoni's version. Our party definitely enjoyed ourselves here and I'm glad I got to try the food here. I was not disappointed and left a happy customer. read more

Today's lunch was across the River in New Jersey. This area of New Jersey is full of B class gourmet that is more tasty as every day meal than A class gourmet food. Out of tons of choice, I chose Zonis Coal Fired Pizza in Red Bank. I always order Large pie though I know I can't finish it. I love leftovers for snacks days after. Dough could bake a little more to be crispier but charred edges are just perfect as like this. Because of coal fire charred smells great. I had half mushrooms pie today and this was a perfect pie today. No beer or wine so BYOB here. read more

Stopped in on a whim on a Thursday evening, while visiting from Maryland. We didn't have a reservation, but owner Rob greeted us warmly, and quickly found a spot for our party of 3. It's BYOB, so we ran over to the liquor store a couple of doors down for a bottle of Prosecco. We had a Margarita and Camilla personal pizza, and Cesar salad; also had the Calamari appy. The food was terrific; fresh quality ingredients, perfectly prepared. I would be remiss if I didn't mention our server, Sabrina; she was friendly and very attentive (and it was busy!). The pizza- we ordered the margherita & bianca. We asked for the margherita well done but it didn't come out as well done as we liked. HOWEVER! We asked for them to stick it back in the oven to cook it a little bit more and OMG the extra crunch on the crust + delicious sauce + fresh mozzarella = just give me the whole pie because I'm not sharing. Plus, our 9-month old loved the pizza and it was her first time having pizza. 3. The coal fired wings- juicy on the inside and nice and crisp on the outside. Probably the best coal fired wings I've ever had and I've tried many. And I cannot forget, the "blue cheese" dressing which is Gorgonzola cheese and HOMEMADE! Last night was the second time I ordered from Zoni's and it was absolutely delicious! I ordered 4 pies using the online ordering system which was super easy to do! My order was made perfectly no mistakes. We ordered the Americana, pollo d'oro, princess Margherita, and the rapini. The princess margherita is beyond delicious. It's a vodka sauce pie that's not over whelming. The sauce is delicious, creamy, flavorful! The pollo d'oro is a Buffalo ckn pie with just enough heat. The chicken isn't chewy like you sometimes experience on pizza pies. The crust on every pie is the perfect thickness and cooked just the way I like it... soft with crispy edges. One thing to note, the large pies are not as big as a large pie you get at a traditional pizzeria so make sure you order a little extra. We got the Americana and princess margherita in a large and the rappini and d'oro in a medium. read more

The pizza was on point with a good crust. It tastes like the coal fired type that is typical for the fancier spots. It reminded me of del pontes or some place like that. I also order tried the wings and they weren't bad. They didnt have a breading but were still good. I am a sucker for a crunchy breading on a wing. That crunch is what makes it but these were still good. They had some caramelized onions on them which was a nice unique touch. I would come back to try again. read more

This was my second visit to Zoni's. I sought it out the first time because I read they were a finalist for Monmouth County's best in the Asbury Park Press pizza contest. I was pleasantly surprised with Margarita personal pie. Crispy with a nice char--seemed to come close to the standards of the "Associazione Verace Pizza napoletana" (Google it if you're a pizza nut like me). Armed with that experience and another poster's recommendation of the calamari, I ventured a second time but with my wife this time. A rather underwhelming visit. The calamari were barely blond and just consisted of the rings (sliced tube) and no tentacles. No crunch anywhere! My wife's arugula salad was an uninspired pile of leaves with a few slices of what appeared to be canned beets and a sprinkle of cheese. The appetizers were followed by the Margarita that was just OK but with no char and barely crispy crust. Service was fine. Add two soft drinks and tip and the total came to $60. Update: I appreciate the thoughtful and insightful response from the owner. I'm sure that ad hominem attacks on customers are a time-tested approach for attracting new business! read more
