I took my dog Capone to get the basics done, bath, nails, a-glands, ear check. And this is the first time in his life that he had been groomed by anyone other than my daughter in-law. So I was a bit worried. At most times he doesn't like anyone except family so yeah I was worried. But when I picked him up he looked amazing. All pretty and fluffy. The lady said he did fine. Claws and paws is horrible. I took my cat in for a grooming. I specifically said "Do not cut any of the matted hair by butt." This was because my vet had told me that because of the treatments my cat was getting. When I picked her up, she was practically shaved bald on her entire backside. The response was that the had to do it because it was "necessary." I asked for an apology and a refund. At that point I was asked to leave. read more

I just moved back to Oregon and needed to find a place to trim my Great Dane's werwolf-like nails. Now because he is a 145 lb creature, his opinion on such places matters and he does NOT enjoy this particular form of body maintenance- so I need someone who will not take his crap and get the job done. This place delivered! Granted it took two people, but they didn't get pushed around by my dog and the mission was accomplished. Only $6 to trim his nails. Not bad at all! The store is located behind the Del Taco and you can't really see the storefront from Lancaster Drive. Drive back... it's right next to the Bridal/ tuxedo place. This place has a separate human waiting area separated by a wall to their work area. There's a window for the over protective or helicopter dog owners. Or... if you are more a chill dog owner, you can relax and read on their comfy couches, knowing that a chore you don't like doing yourself is done nicely and at a reasonable price. So excited to find this place, we recently moved to the area and needed a new nail clipper for our two dogs. I pulled up, called, a groomer came right out and took one dog at a time. The whole experience took less than 20 min and she was so fast I didn't even get her name! The dogs came out with their fresh mani/pedis happy and calm and it only cost $20 plus tip for the two! I'm too chicken to clip them myself so this is a great find for the dogs, my nerves and my wallet! read more

My kitty is a house cat. Has never had a flee or ear mites or anything. We took her in to get buzzed around her bum....medium haired cat. Two weeks later....she is sick...doctor says it's an allergic reaction to products the groomer used. She's has welts all over her. They have to shave all of them so they can heal. She has earmites and an ear infection. I'm so upset and she's hurting so bad. Place is obviously not disinfected well. Won't ever go here again. $500 down from the vet. Ugh! read more

i've been here like twice and the first time i actually liked because my cat didn't have any cuts or dried out blood on him. this time around i got ripped off because supposedly he had fleas which isn't true because i had just bought my cats flea medication i was like whatever okay. but when i get home im checking him out and it looks like they rush in trying to groom animals. my cat had a cut on his ear not only do i take my cat but my dog as well she had dried up blood everywhere, she even got rashes on her belly because they cut out her fur too much! like where can i find somewhere professional to go to!? never bringing my cat here again read more

I have been taking my dog to Claws and Paws since I adopted her. I quit taking her for a time because she always got ear infections and eye infections after being groomed. The shop is just filthy. The floors are covered with clippings. I don't believe that they sterilize their equipment between grooming the dogs. I started taking my dog there again and this last appointment did it for me. The appointment was at 12 noon. At 4:30 I got concerned because she is a small dog, and it shouldn't take that long to groom her. When I went to pick her up almost 5 hours later, they had just started to clip her. They hurried through and she just looked terrible. The cut was very amateurish. I was so disappointed. I go here since they look like they specialize in poodles, its always a gamble on who I get... sometimes they do really great sometimes no.. recent one was a no... my dog looked like a little old man... i think I need to be better at remembering who cuts next time and request that specific person. They are very gentle and kind with animals especially if you explain their temperament. The nail cutting is quick and such a great price $6 (in cash) $8 (with card) better than trying to catch your furry one yourself. They do grooming of all kinds and keep a record of each animal for all info they may need, just like a vet would. They are busy and booked in advance for cats so that they don't have to be around dogs. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. They have an awesome paw balm for animals too for $4 especially if they get chapped in winter or hot in summer. Wonderful service and definitely coming back. They helped us win a stray we wanted to take care of and we couldn't be more grateful. read more

I have been looking for a groomer for my standard poodle. I found claws-n-paws and they were able to get me in on short notice. I was worried because my poodle is a puppy and is fairly uncomfortable with new situations. But the team was great and my poodle looks amazing, and the price was very reasonable. 5 stars. read more

I bring my Shelties here to get their toenails trimmed. For this service, no appointment is needed. They are so nice, and my dogs are very calm here (no shaking, like at the vet's office). The staff members are obviously animal lovers. And they only charge $6 for a toenail trim - less than half of what my vet charges. read more

The first time I went to Claws-Paws it was an ordinary experience, cat was taken care of and his cut looked nice. Well I just returned from claws-paws. Picked up my Persian (who was cut a month ago) who had a bath and was told it was $65!! For a bath?! I asked the first time I went how much it would be and I was told $20. Didn't think to double check since it seemed to be a reputable business and it was the same person as last time. When I heard that I was flabbergasted. $65?! I questioned it and was told it was the same for a bath as a bath and a cut (which is what he got last time) I would have no problem paying that if he had gotten cut again. But no. Just a bath. Nothing special. He actually looked more raggedy then when I left him he just smelled better. So thank you Claws-paws for making my cat smell better and charging me over 3x as much as I had expected. Because of this grooming establishment, I will never take my dogs to be groomed again. I have a 5 lb Pomeranian. I had taken her to this groomer one time before and everything was fine. They did exactly what I requested. When I took my dog the second time it was a nightmare. Upon taking my dog home she would scream out everytime I tried to touch her and hid under a chair. I called my vet and they said if she is eating and drinking and not limping to just observe her. After 2 more days she was no better so I called the salon and asked to speak to the manager. I asked if maybe she had fallen or if something had frightened her and they stated nothing had happened. By the sixth day i felt a lump on her side just in front of her leg. I took her straight to the vet and she thought maybe it was just a hot spot. After shaving the area the vet stated she had been burned on both sides of her body. The vet took pictures. I went straight from the vet to the salon and showed them the damage and they stated they couldn't have done that. I payed $300 in vet bills. They would not even refund the grooming charge. The owner said, "That would never happen here. We love our animals." She never even bothered to call me to see if my dog was ok. While I was there showing the injuries, I heard one of the groomers in the back yelling at a dog. This place is terrible. They are abusive and will not be honest about what actually happened. I now have my own grooming table. I know exactly how my dogs are taken care of. read more
