I've been taking my dogs there since 2012 and I've never had a problem with them. Everyone who works there is always friendly, helpful and polite. They know my dog's routines, sometimes better than I do. Neither of my current dogs are overly excited to go there, but one is a little princess who likes warm and comfort, and the other is a velcro dog who hates being apart from me. Neither of these things is a fault for Pet Village and once they're there, they are comfortable and happy. Our previous dog, who passed away a few years ago, got excited when we pulled up. And when he was in his final days, I brought him to Pet Village and all the staff came out to say goodbye to him. This is the best place for dogs. read more

Our two young dogs boarded there for 8 days. Both were overwhelmed and very scared the first two days but finally acclimated and began their training. DO NOT GO HERE!!! take your furry loved ones and RUN FAR FAR FAR away!! do your research!!! I have been here twice and both experiences were awful! 1st time I sent my dog with 2 weeks supply of food, I specified how much and when he gets fed. I picked him up 5 days later and he has NO food left! his food is really expensive and I know he doesnt eat that much, where did his food go? to make matters worse when we got home he was constipated for 3 days!! I thought maybe it was a fluke, I'll give them one more shot with very strict instructions WORST IDEA EVER! it gets worse 2nd and final chance, my dog is fully vaccinated, and they did right by the food this time but he comes home with a cough! KENNEL COUGH! They have an itty bitty TEENIE WEENIE sign explaining this! IF YOU HAVE AN OUTBREAK OF A VERY CONTAGIOUS VIRUS it NEEDS to be posted every where and in clear plain sight giving families the CHOICE to put their furry loved one at risk! no they take that away from you! and in your waiver they cover there a**es. You get stuck with a boarding bill, vet bill, and a sick pup! DONT DO IT RUN AWAY, this place is a disgrace. When I told them of this they just shrugged like it was nothing. My fully vaccinated dog came home with kennel cough. I know that this can happen at times but there really isn't a reason he should have. I picked up Doyle to training issues my dog was having and all that was really said is "are you mad? " I was told there was no reason to take him to a vet cause his wounds are superficial, and they were but they can't legally tell you that since they have no medical training. I'd let all go if I hadn't been dealing with a coughing dog at night. I'm new to the area and went in to get a tour of the facility. The staff member behind the counter was clearly frazzled as it was "pick up time." There was already a frustrated potential customer ahead of me who could not get ahold of the person coordinating training classes. She was given new information which she has not been told prior. My turn...I was told to come back between 1-3 any day for a tour. Confusing because It clearly says on their website, "see us in person...feel free to visit during normal business hours." They would not let her see him at all during that time. He came out six weeks later emancipated, lethargic and sick. She immediately took him to her vet and he passed a day and half later from sever bacterial pneumonia. There have multiple injuries and deaths of dogs from this kennel!!!! Do your research. The first clue that my golden retriever was uncomfortable returning to PV for boarding was her running away from the girl and running into the glass door twice. I didn't respect that and left her for a week. When I picked her up she was glad to see me and leave! When I got home I noticed a puncture wound on her fore leg and about 4 inches of exposed skin. I called at 10 am to see what happened and the girl said she was unaware and she would ask the owner to call me back. No one ever called me back. When I called the vet they told me this was common from pet village. The dogs get caught up in the kennel wire and get punctured and torn. No need to return to PV! read more

So I'm a little torn on writing this review since historically we have boarded our two dogs there with little to no issues. But our most recent boarding experience ended with our dog having her tail amputated. We picked up our pups and loaded in our rig as we were attempting to pull away from the facility an employee runs out to gain our attention. The employee explained that they noticed a volume of blood when they brought our animals out to us and described it as happy tail. I had no idea what happy tail was, but the staff assured us its not a big deal bandage the tail and in a week or two it will heal. Long story short the diagnosis given was not happy tail, rather as the vet described it a jagged deep cut or bite mark. Due to the nature of the wound and the dead tissue which left the bone exposed our pup had to have her tail removed. After all that we have reached out to facility for two reasons. One to declare our concerns with their staff diagnosing dogs ailment and downplaying the need for veterinary services. The second to discuss financial concessions for either the fees of boarding being refunded and/or medical expense reimbursement. Or at a bare minimum taking some accountability for the quality of service. But the ownership has not responded to our request for a call back. So since I haven't been able to directly communicate my concerns I thought this would be a suitable substitute to communicate my concerns for their business practices as well as provide some insight to the public who may be looking for a boarding facility. read more

My dogs have been going here since Aug. 2021, they love the people and seem very happy. We have used their bathing services, nail trimming, and boarding. No complaints at all, everyone I have spoke with is very sweet and attentive. Our daughter has also been taking her dog here for the last 4 years and she is the one who recommended this facility to which we were very thankful. It is hard to choose a place that you can trust with your pets and we are glad we went with her advice. I took my dog here twice. Once to get her nails trimmed and once to get a bath with nail trim. The first time she came out with 2 of her nails dripping blood. The second time for the bath when I went to pick her up I could hear her crying in the back room (my Aussie rarely cries or even barked for that matter) the lady at the counter then had the nerve to tell me my dog required 2 workers and that my pup peed on one of them. And that I need to work with her better. I then told her maybe she doesn't feel comfortable with you guys. She then changed her tone and tried to be all nice, knowing i would defend my pup. Definitely recommend doing your own research before bringing your business here. Recently, took my dog to the vet and multiple people on staff did NOT have a good recommendation for the training at this place when I brought it up. Allegedly, they are known to use aggressive tactics onto dogs that are perhaps more rambunctious or energetic. I wasn't a fan of this information because I don't want my dog to cultivate any violent behaviors during or after the training process as my dog already is a protective family member. So, naturally I decided to give them a call to take the temperature of the place to see what's up. When I wanted to discuss some of these concerns over the phone, I felt like I didn't get complete answers and additionally the staff was rude over the phone. That was the nail in the coffin for me and I will not be doing business here. I really wanted this place to work because they offer a lot of resources and because there are good reviews vouching for this place out there. However, I do not want to roll the dice when it comes to my dog. read more

A friend of mine recommended Pet Village so I decided to try it out for boarding while I was in Asia for two weeks. I care about my dogs tremendously and took a tour of the place before scheduling. During my tour, I noticed that all the dogs were laying on concrete and blocked out from going to the inside part of the kennel were the beds are (the dog doors were closed). I questioned why this was occurring and was told the dogs often try and play with the beds by pulling them around so the employees close the doors during the daytime to prevent this. I instantly requested that my two Vizslas have access to their bed at all times as both of my dogs are slender and don't have an excess of body fat (this is the breed). They girl giving me the tour agreed that this would not be a problem. When I arrived back from my trip,I was greeted by an employee explaining to me "they both lost some weight because because they ran around too much during play time (I paid extra to let them out of their kennel for 30 minutes a day). What could this mean, I thought? My dogs play all day at home and they each get two cups of food a day, which is not an excessive amount. My confusion turned to heartbreak when I saw my dogs. They both looked awful, completely emaciated. When I got home I realized my older vizsla had patches of hair missing and three moderately sized pressure ulcers, likely caused by not having a soft bed to lay on during the day. Thankfully, these healed in a few weeks without getting infected. I'm not sure if this is typical of Pet Village but I will never again take my dogs here. read more

And started sneezing and coughing She ended up having kennel cough but not just that but she also got a wound near her stomach!!!! Same with my brothers dog!!!!! but exept he had a white spot on his chest and we asked staff about it and they told us It was because they BATHE HIM WITH BLEACH!!!!!!!!! We LOVE Pet Village! Porsche, our GSD pup, loves it, too! Their facility is staffed with people who love dogs. She has stayed for short trips and up to three weeks and ALWAYS returns happy, better trained, and beautifully bathed. While the customer service is amazing and knowledgable. My first dog came back with kennel cough 2x and they had a notice saying they had an outbreak. Recently my pup came back after being boarded over spring break, sneezing, coughing and nothing was mentioned. I took to them to the vet as I recognized the symptoms and sure enough it was kennel cough. As much as I like the customer service the service is not returned to the pups. I'm won't be boarding there as the outcome is a sick dog. This may not be happening to everyone but it was my experience and i felt it needed to be addressed. read more

I love the Pet Village dog obedience classes! I've just enrolled again for the third time. Chinook and I have grown in our relationship tremendously and now we've made it to the advanced obedience class! Just like anything else in life, and in any educational class/training situation, you get exactly back what you put in. Your mindset must be one where you want to actively train your dog because he/she lives with you in your domain and you want to learn how to train your dog to be in sync with you and your family. You simply have to commit to being able to work with your own dog on a daily basis if you want the training to work. At least 30 minutes a day is really all it takes as long as you are consistent. Just like a class at school, you are expected to do your homework with your own dog. You can't passively expect someone else to train your dog for you and to magically have a trained dog. You have to be your dog's "Alpha" by positively reinforcing and working with him/her to develop a strong and consistent protocol they respect and trust. Jennifer does an exceptional job letting you know on Day 1 that you are your own dog's handler. She gives excellent and consistent direction and modeling of the training your dog needs to do but is very clear that you are the one building these skills in a life-long relationship that you must establish with your own dog. She purposefully does not interfere too much because she wants to preserve the relationship you have with your own dog and keep you established as the focal point. If you and your dog are struggling she always facilitates timely tips and suggestions to help you and your dog progress. I personally love if a class get crowded because the extra distraction gives my girl the challenge and better training exposure in the long run. I often do go to dog parks in my "homework" training sessions simply because I want my dog to have as many distractions as possible and become accustomed to public situations. Ultimately, we want our dogs to know how to behave in these potentially chaotic moments the most! read more

We love Pet Village, mostly because our dog loves them! We have boarded multiple places and started boarding him at PV after a suggestion from a friend. Over the course of the last 9 months, he's probably spent upwards of a month (2x 2 week trips for work, weekends here and there) with them. We appreciate that they are usually very flexible about dates for pick-p/drop-off (other than peak weekends). All of our friends use PV, with no complaints. We are happy to have found people that TRULY care about our dog and will do everything in their power for him when we're gone. We recommend them to everyone that asks and will continue coming here for a long time! We've only had one questionable experience with PV and the team quickly convinced us that there was no foul play. The first 2 week stay we came home to the happiest dog, but he was a little thin. We voiced our concerns to PV, and they told us that he didn't settle down the whole 2 weeks we were gone. Our canine is incredibly high energy and loves other dogs, so I believe it. We took our dog back for a weekend or two leading up to our second 2 week trip and we were very impressed that they had taken the initiative to leave a note for our dog to crate him in the middle of the day to help him settle down, in addition to feeding him more kibble. After multiple repeat visits, we've never ever had the same problem. I'm confused by "The Punisher T."'s review, because the staff is nothing but loving and enthusiastic. Every time we're there, for training or boarding, they are all smiles. They appear to love our somewhat-problem-child dog and don't even give us grief when he's being particularly bad. We have also done private training with Pet Village and have been pleased. We will be doing group classes this fall. read more

I took my Sheltie puppy to their Puppy Kindergarten class. She wasn't even leash trained at the beginning. However, after going through the class (and doing the follow-up homework outside of class), Rosie was able to walk on leash at different speeds, do a "stay" and recall across a large indoor room, walk across a beam, and go through a chute. I've been taking my dog to Pet Village for almost a year for IPO training. We have a blast when we go, my dog LOVES Jennifer[our trainer] and it's something we both look forward to doing every week. Jennifer knows dogs and even though she's a GSD person she welcomed me and my Pit Bull with open arms and has been nothing but supportive in our adventure into IPO. I am from out of state and here in Oregon visiting my sister. My boyfriend and I decided to take a trip to Portland for some sights. My sister recommended Pet Village to board our baby boys. They were very friendly and took great care of my babies. I even had my Rockett groomed due to his high shedding and he came back very handsome. Great job. They had discounts for multiple pets and discounts with grooming a boarding. When we picked up our boys they were happy and tails wagging. I feel like there are way too many dogs in the classes and the goal seems to be more about money then the training. I was not happy with the owners demeanor towards my dog nor her lack of enthusiasm to be teaching the class. We dropped the class half way through as I have heard a lot of other people have as well... and her remarks are people drop out because the class gets "harder"... this is only true because her desire to train seems to be lacking. I wish somebody would have followed up with us, but why would they. They have our money and that's that. I will never send any business that way. Jennifer and her helpful staff are just amazing! I've taken 5 dogs through the group training classes, three of them through to Advanced/Agility, and they have all done wonderfully. Jennifer has been training dogs for many years and has seen virtually every type of behavior you can think of - and she has thoughtful, EFFECTIVE and humane techniques for dealing with them all. I've also observed classes I wasn't directly participating in and noticed that the only dogs who didn't seem to "catch on" very quickly had handlers/owners who didn't listen to instructions and weren't at all consistent in their behavior toward their dogs. Certainly no fault of Jennifer or her helpers - you can only tell someone so many times what to do, then it's up to them. I can't recommend Pet Village enough!! read more

They even had us get choke collars for them, not to keen on the idea, but ok. Went to training last week. They had my husband take the GS, he was training out side, out of site of his sister. Sister stayed in side with our daughter. So out of site, of everyone in that group out side, the trainer took the leash, and kept yanking him up as hard as she could for several min. So hard, his front was up in the air. That is ABUSE, we will never take a dogs back to this place ever , for anything. You can train, with out be abusive, that is a negative way to train. We are doing better with them, with positive reinforcement, no abuse . read more

I'm so sad with all the negative reviews. We love love love Petvillage. Our dog gets so excited when we pull into the parking lot. She first went there for training and now to be boarded. The staff and owners are amazing. We get so many compliments on how well behaved our dog is. She's never come back with so much as a speck of dirt on her. I can tell the minute we drop her off that they genuinely love having her and care a great deal about her. Our dog is my third child and my kids best friend. DO NOT BOARD HERE!!!!!! I boarded my 2 dogs here twice the first time my dogs came home reeking of feces and urine and their pads were worn down to rawness. One of my dogs had a broken toe nail and the other got a respiratory infection after coming home despite proper vaccinations. I decided to give them one last chance to make things right and requested that they give the kennel an extra cleaning before my pets arrived and then told them about the other problems I noticed. They must have taken it as a challenge. When I picked my pets up again they had their pads worn down to rawness again but this time they were infected and they had sores in between their toes from standing in filth, my dog got another respiratory infection and had an infected wound on the tip of her tail that now won't grow hair.they had feces all over their feet. And reeked of urine. When I called and complained and requested the owner call me even after several calls I've heard nothing back its been months. DON'T TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!!!!! read more
