Great beers, welcome to all ages, people and dogs alike! Stopped here twice during our Kure Beach vacation this week. Monday afternoon gave us a patio to ourselves and Friday night offered corn hole and a classic summer night. Monday afternoon's flight was crisp and refreshing all around, but my favorite was their Dreamsicle Ale so I stuck with that on Friday night and even got 32 oz to go. If you enjoy Ciders, their Cherry Limeade cider was enjoyed as well! But the real show stopper was the Minnie Mouse coloring book that entertained my 3 year old for a solid hour ;) read more

Such a fun vibe! We had a delicious jalapeno lager while playing cards. Fun place to hang!

What a fun spot! They have beer and a disc golf course. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We grabbed a few beers and walked around the disc golf course just to check it out. I tasted the brown, but opted to start out with a golden ale (it was just Ok). Then I saw they had some strawberry lemonade beer and a ginger beer. Those were really good and refreshing and I enjoyed those more than the traditional beers. read more

Good Hops Brewing has become a new staple for our annual trip to Pleasure Island (Carolina & Kure Beaches). We love the drinks, atmosphere, servers, merchandise, and disc golf course! What more could you need?! I always get a flight of beers to try a variety. All flights come with a bag of complimentary pretzels. Their summer taps are always so refreshing, especially after doing the disc golf course! This year I tried the disc golf course for the first time. It was also my first time disc golfing in general. We golfed with an experienced player and he said it was a pretty technical course because of the trees - which also offer lots of shade! Frisbee golf! Beer! Clearly a fun combo. We tried two beers while we were there and both were pretty solid, the hazy ipa was better than the Donna blonde. The bar tender was really chill and offered us a big plastic glass for water on the course if we wanted it. Interestingly this seems like a dog place as they had a cool dog in house, "Fred", and allowed other dogs on premise. If I come back to CB, I would want to play another round and grab a cold beer again! read more

Great place to stop after hiking at Carolina Beach State Park. Very dog friendly. They do not serve food, but you can bring your own. Disc golf is a nice addition. The Boardwalk Brown is a nice brew. Highly recommend this brewery. read more

If you love doggies and brews definitely stop in. Atmosphere and service was amazing. Hands down best part for me as a dog lover and missing my bulldog was the owners French bull dog in the back on the left side walking to the bathrooms. I so badly wanted to pick him up and cuddle with him. Back to the beers. I got a pale ale ‍I need to write the names down so I remember. My BF got the boardwalk. I'm not a big beer fan at all so I didn't really like mine. To me it was dry with a hinge of bitterness which I don't like. I'm new to the beer community I apologize. My BF on the other hand loved his. He wanted more but we had to hit the road. Definitely recommend if you are on the Fort Fischer area. read more

Need a post beach beer? This is your stop. I've been here a couple of times, but today's visit just felt right. Traveling back home from Kure and traffic backs up a bit along the road outside the brewery. Location is the perfect pit stop for your travel worries. They had a food truck outside, and some kind of engagement or wedding party going on inside. I took my beer to the outdoor patio, which was nice and covered. There's a very LEGIT frisbee golf (is this right?) course that's connected to the brewery. I don't know the details (is it free?/do your bring your own discs?) but it looks pretty fun. Bottom line -- beer tastes good. Come get some. read more

It's what I expect from a TapRoom. Family and pet friendly, chill environment. I had the Pilsner and it's clean with a bit of bitterness from the continental hops. They had ESB on casket, which I rarely see, and the brown ale was solid. I sampled the IPAs and they were all well within standard. This place needs to be checked out. read more

Buyer Beware! The woman running the cash register is over charging most customers. They ran low on pint glasses so they used 12 ounce plastic cups-charging the same price as a pint- for 25% less beer. I sat and watched this for more than an hour. I asked about my beer and they told me sorry there was a glass shortage. They did give me a partial refill on my plastic cup and probably hoped I would not make a scene. Yes- they were out of glasses, all dirty- unless you had a used glass and they'd refill it. Clean glasses back behind bar. Girl keeps charging full price and selling 10 or 12 ounces beers in a plastic cup. Get overcharged AND leave a tip. Disclaimer: there was a political rally on the side deck. Funny -none of the younger crowd even noticed. In fact of the 100 people that were overcharged - NO one asked or complained. #callmecranky As a side note: the tacos were delicious from the food truck but crazy overpriced. $7 or $8/each for veggie street tacos?!? read more

They brew their own beer and can it. The disc golfing courses are really fun and you can be professional or casual and still have a good time. The staff is very friendly and can give you suggestions as well as will give you samples of the beer to try. It's a very popular place people go to just to hang out. Only brewery on the island so not a lot of craft beer when visiting Carolina Beach but this is a fun spot to try if you like checking out new breweries like I do! So cool to have an actually brewery in Carolina beach. Apparently lots of restaurants are carrying their brown ale. I tried the flight and although I am a dark beer girl there was not one beer I disliked- it was a good deal at $8 and the hop shaped serving trays are adorable! They have plenty of outside seating and if you are a dog lover like me- friendly canines are welcome. It was fun to see the little four legged guys wrestling and Playing- so if you are uptight about dogs this may not be your place. Our bartender was sweet and she have us some good recommendations where to eat, what to do etc. But if you like good beer, a relaxed atmosphere, outdoor seating with a fire pit and tons of indoor tables with board games, cards, etc to play then you may have found your new hangout! They also do growler fills but I think they call them grumbles. Only downside- no food other that snacks/chips but you are welcome to bring a pizza, have food delivered or just bring your own subs whatever! Just plan ahead of you are a drunk eater like me!!! read more

This place could be something special. They've got a lot of great things here. Great staff. Super clean bar. Chairs with backs on them - I know pretty particular thing to love however for the older crowd most breweries go with stools and our old backs need some support! Unique merchandise to pick from. Disc golf course just behind the building - bring your discs! And grab a beer. GHB has a great patio often featuring food trucks. Dog friendly. Kid friendly. Everyone friendly. Great beer selection and glasses that actually support a good carbonation factor in the beer. For us, someone extremely passionate about their job makes us fall in love with a place that much more. Brew master behind the bar is so in love with his job that it just radiates. His passion creates awesome beer. Pair that with some great distribution and this place could be hopin' ( no pun intended!) Great location for a quick pit stop or an afternoon well spent. I visited Good Hops brewing on Easter Sunday for an event with Cape Fear Beer and Hymns. It was a long awaited visit for me! I had tried a few of their beers around town at different events but had not yet been lucky enough to visit their brewery. The inside is a decent size with a long bar. The brewery is behind the bar and a large glass window allows you to see into the beer making process. Hubs and I got a flight of six beers to sample. I have to say I truly enjoyed all of them. I'm not typically a fan of IPA/heavy hoppy beers and only one of the ones they had on tap that night was a true IPA. I still found it delicious! I'm a dark beer/brown/red ale drinker by nature, so naturally my favorite was the Muddy Water Stout. Light hits of coffee but not so much as to taste like a cup of joe and not heavy at all. It's a great beer to sip and you can have multiples because of its lightness. I want to visit again when I can get a peek and some insight in their brewing process. Also, they have a disc golf course in the back! Can't wait to check it out next time! read more

Really good brews, I stuck with the Flip Hop IPA. 12 ounce pour (I think) for $5, kinda high, but not complaining. Cool disc golf 9 hole you can play for free, and they have loaner discs you can use. You can even bring an insulated container to take a beer with you on the course. We had 15 greyhounds there, and it was a lot of fun, great little day trip drive, will be back! Can't say enough good things about Good Hops. Was a great addition to an already awesome trip. I was able to try a few of their draft beers which all were excellent! Their IPA was my favorite but the bartender made sure to inform us of their constantly rotating handles and seasonal options. They had a jalapeño beer but I just wasn't daring enough to give it a try. Be sure to add this to learn list on your next trip to Carolina Beach or if you leave in the near by area. read more
