Easy to stop by when you're going to the beach or aquarium. Really laid back atmosphere, with helpful staff and friendly locals. Good beer selection with rotating taps and different beer styles. They also have non-beer options.

Brought our own games, but there is a great selection there!

Great beers, welcome to all ages, people and dogs alike! Stopped here twice during our Kure Beach vacation this week. Monday afternoon gave us a patio to ourselves and Friday night offered corn hole and a classic summer night. Monday afternoon's flight was crisp and refreshing all around, but my favorite was their Dreamsicle Ale so I stuck with that on Friday night and even got 32 oz to go. If you enjoy Ciders, their Cherry Limeade cider was enjoyed as well! But the real show stopper was the Minnie Mouse coloring book that entertained my 3 year old for a solid hour ;)

What a fun spot! They have beer and a disc golf course. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We grabbed a few beers and walked around the disc golf course just to check it out. I tasted the brown, but opted to start out with a golden ale (it was just Ok). Then I saw they had some strawberry lemonade beer and a ginger beer. Those were really good and refreshing and I enjoyed those more than the traditional beers.

A good selection of interesting and tasty craft beers. Service from Nicole was personable and prompt! I wish I had had time to play around of disc golf ! If I were to come back to town, I would make an effort to come back here, no doubt.

Good Hops Brewing has become a new staple for our annual trip to Pleasure Island (Carolina & Kure Beaches). We love the drinks, atmosphere, servers, merchandise, and disc golf course! What more could you need?! I always get a flight of beers to try a variety. All flights come with a bag of complimentary pretzels. Their summer taps are always so refreshing, especially after doing the disc golf course! This year I tried the disc golf course for the first time. It was also my first time disc golfing in general. We golfed with an experienced player and he said it was a pretty technical course because of the trees - which also offer lots of shade! We all had a ton of fun and will be back to play and drink again!

Great brewery to have a good beer. Taps change per season so there's always new styles to try. It's a relaxed atmosphere and there is a nice large patio. They also have a great disc golf course and loaner discs! It was cool they had cup holders at each hole. I've always enjoyed stopping here!

I really love this place. Since the last time I was here they have made it even more beautiful. They added some cool features to the disc golf course and the inside glass wall looks really cool. Such a great local establishment!

My favorite thing about Good Hops is that I can pair outside Disc Golf with local brews. This is definitely a place that I bring my family and friends (furry ones too).

Nice folks, good beer, frustrating disc golf but fun anyway. Thanks! Being outside is great!

Ask the Community - Good Hops Brewing

I'm swinging though from out of state, does this brewery fill outside growlers? I've got a ton and don't need a branded one for a brewery that's about 8 hours from my house. Thanks in advance for an answer!

The brewery is more than happy to fill growlers from all locations. It's a small family owned location where everyone puts their heart and soul into the day to day operations & the brews they make. While every beer might not be to everyone's… Read more

The second visit, however, came with a greeting I've never heard in my fifty‑plus years: "You've been out all day. I can't serve you because I'll be liable if you're over served." I've bartended before. I understand the responsibility. But I was never asked a single question about what I'd actually been doing. For clarity: we had lunch at Michael's Seafood before our first visit. I had one non‑alcoholic seltzer at Island Beverage, and my partner had a four‑flight sampler. After that, we went thrifting and shopping at Goodwill, Lowe's Foods, and Dollar Tree. No drinking. No bar‑hopping. Nothing even close. On our second visit, Geneva gave us water and let us charge a phone -- and I do appreciate that. But being told "you've been out all day" instead of "welcome back" was unnecessary, inaccurate, and frankly insulting. It was an assumption presented as fact, and it was embarrassing. What made it even more absurd was watching Geneva continue to serve patrons who were clearly intoxicated while I sat there with a glass of water. So here's the takeaway: Don't go in twice in one day. Apparently that alone is enough to get treated like you've been drinking all over town. After this experience, I won't be going in on any day. I hope the staff can handle situations like this with actual communication instead of jumping straight to conclusions.

Our service was quick and efficient! We snuck in right before the rush around 5:45 PM our server Kyra was wonderful! Her timing was excellent and her suggestions were spot on! She was friendly, efficient, and just added to the great experience that all four of us had! My husband and I shared the mahi special and something called Crete Beets ( spelled on the menu beats); both were absolutely delicious! The mahi was prepared perfectly and had a nice light creole sauce which they put on the side for dipping and the crab mac & cheese was delightful with asparagus that was cooked on point; not overdone and not underdone which I know in restaurants is sometimes difficult to do. The crete "beats" was more or less a charcuterie board of roasted purple and gold beats with the most delicious whipped dip and perfectly seasoned and baked pita some of the best I've ever had with olives and cucumbers, and pickled red onions! I can't really describe the dip and apparently it's top-secret because I asked for the recipe! Our friends ordered the beet salad with extra beets; shrimp Tapatio and a bowl of the soup of the day. All were delicous and there was not a crumb or a drop left on their plates while my husband and I were still eating ours! The soup of the day was a potato jalapeño cheddar and it did not disappoint! this seriously is one of the few consistent restaurants on the island! I'm still dreaming about my food this morning!

It feels relaxed, welcoming, and full of appreciation for the music and history. Soul music belongs to everybody who loves it, whether it's classic soul, Motown, or even a little blue-eyed soul mixed in. This place feels like it's celebrating that tradition, not exploiting it. Natalie took great care of us and gave us the kind of service that makes you feel right at home. I had the chicken and noodles, which were rich, comforting, and the sort of dish that would make your grandmother nod in approval. Mimi had the Tropical Tikia Marsala with scallops, shrimp, mahi filet, mango, pineapple, coconut rice, and it was outstanding--sweet, savory, and just different enough to make you wonder why more places don't cook like this. We finished by sharing the warm toffee pecan bread pudding, and if you leave without trying it, well, that's like walking out of church before the choir sings. Great food, great atmosphere, and great service. Soul Flavor is a Carolina Beach gem, and we'll definitely be back.

A great place to eat!…read more Me and my parents came here for lunch as we heard it was highly rated. Getting there was a little tricky but that was the GPS' fault. It has a nice big parking lot and we were shocked that on a Thursday afternoon, it was packed. When we walked in, we were greeted nicely and seated at a booth. The booth was nice and spacious. The table was clean, silverware was mostly clean, and there was salt, pepper, and I believe paprika shakers already on the table. One thing that impressed me heavily, is that there was a napkin dispenser already on the table. I can't tell you how frustrating it is when you have to ask for more napkins at other restaurants, and your server is nowhere to be found, or when they bring you some, but it's not enough. This is huge for a food critic like myself and this should be the standard at all restaurants. Our server was nice. She was knowledgeable about the menu and honest about what was good and what wasn't as popular. The food was good! I got the swordfish tacos with garlic mashed potatoes and a side of baked mac and cheese. The baked mac and cheese was excellent (it's quite big! You may want to make that your only side or share it with someone). The garlic mashed was good too. The swordfish tacos were good, but would've liked a little more meat in there. Still, flavor was great. My parents both got lobster rolls which they liked and my dad got the crab chowder and he said it was fantastic. Their chowder's is what they are famous for; will try that when I go back. Server was attentive, brought us refills and did an overall great job. Food is reasonable priced too and it looked like the store manager checked up on us a few times which was nice as well. Overall a great seafood restaurant to eat at. I recommend going if you are in the area; would like to go back in the future!

We were excited to try it based on the great things we had heard, but unfortunately we left with the complete opposite impression. We liked the casual grill style atmosphere that still felt family friendly. The host was prompt and welcoming, seating us almost immediately. Our server, Asya, greeted us, provided menus, and gave us time to review everything while ordering drinks and our toddler's food. Initially, things seemed promising. As someone recovering from cancer, I am mindful about what I eat and often ask questions about menu items, daily specials, and popular dishes so I can find options that aren't overly heavy or greasy. When I specifically asked about specials and recommendations, I was directed first toward the seafood boils and then several of the highest priced menu items. What was surprising was that we later discovered a daily specials menu that was never mentioned to us despite my direct questions. It felt less like guidance and more like an attempt to steer us toward the most expensive choices available. As time went on, our experience continued to decline. It took over 20 minutes just to receive our drinks, and throughout our visit our server was frequently unavailable. At one point we needed new crayons for our daughter because the ones provided were broken, and after being unable to locate our server, another employee..a gentleman with silver hair...kindly stepped in to help. Ironically, he was more attentive to our table in that brief interaction than our assigned server had been for much of the meal. The wait times became excessive. From the moment we sat down until our food arrived, nearly an hour had passed. For a mid-afternoon meal that wasn't during a rush, this was difficult to understand. Communication was minimal, there were no updates regarding delays, and we were repeatedly left wondering what was happening. What disappointed us most was that the issues weren't related to the food itself but to the overall service experience. We came in excited to support a local restaurant that had been highly recommended and instead left feeling overlooked, uninformed, and frustrated. There are too many excellent restaurants in the area that value their guests' time and provide attentive service for us to justify returning after this experience.
