You pay for the studio fee ($8) for me that day and then the piece you pick to paint has its own price. Lots of pieces and colors to choose from. Went back and this time staff was helpful and not MIA. I do wish they helped refill paints but now I know to get multiple pallets before I sit down. It does get super busy once school lets out. The setting is clean and sunny, the choices in the bisque are numerous and seem to be fairly priced. But I'm surprised at the number of reviews that said the staff was helpful. We were told it was "self serve." You get your own paints and brushes. When you run low, you get up and refill your palette. Even when you want to pay, you have to go looking for a staff person to take your money. So I wouldn't call the staff helpful. But--it's a fun experience and I would do it again, now that my expectations of service have been lowered. read more

We chose Color Me Mine as the venue to celebrate my daughter's birthday and all I can say is that it was a world class experience. They were a little pricey for our budget, but after the experience, it was worth the cost. They gave us plenty of tables and space to host a few guests and there were packages that gave our guests flexibility for painting options. It was a nice change of pace from the typical noisy hustle and bustle of a restaurant, arcade, or bouncy town. My daughter and I had a fun time painting at Color Me Mine. There are tons of pottery pieces to choose from, but we settled on two different pig plates because my daughter is crazy about pigs. The website says the pieces cost $10-25 and then you pay a fee per person to paint. We saw larger pieces that were much more than $25, so make sure you're paying attention. There are tons of colors to choose from and even some stamps you can use. We picked out a rainbow of colors for my daughter's plate. I can't wait to see the finished projects. Unfortunately I will have to wait because it takes 7-10 days to get them back. Update: we got the finished plates and they look great. I wish I had made sure my daughter put more purple glaze on, but overall I'm happy with these! read more

I had a great time here! Highly recommended!! I was looking for something fun to do with my younger nephew (7) and this came to mind. I was really excited to find a location near his house. We stopped in on a Saturday evening, and were greeted by a friendly young girl who gave us the run-down on how everything works. We found our seats (which was difficult because the place was nearly packed!!), we found our bisques (the items we wanted to paint), and then selected our paint colors and got to it!! We were there for several hours (like 4). We had several questions during that timeframe, and the girls were so helpful/friendly. It was great. The store is nice and bright and clean. There's a washroom right in the store. My only suggestion is to stop and bring drinks/snacks or whatever, if you're going to be there a while! We painted our items, and left them. It takes like a week for them to cook the bisque once painted, so you have to come back and get them later. Overall - very nice experience! Lots of items to choose from, including holiday items. Pricing seems competitive, to other shops like this. HIGHLY recommended! read more

Staff is friendly and helpful and they have a decent selection of pottery to choose from. TIP: Their pottery is fragile even after glazing and will chip easy, so choose pieces that won't get much handling. read more

I really enjoy this place. Contrary to other reviews, the ladies who work here are very friendly, helpful, and patient. There are tons of pieces to chose from, and my daughter loves it! They have lots of paint colors to chose from, stencils, tapes, etc to help make your piece your special work of art. They also have examples around the store to help you get an idea of what you can do. My daughter and I have been here about 8 times. We actually had a birthday party there as well when she was younger (about 5) and they organize the parties so well! Sure, they're a bit crowded sometimes and you have to keep an eye on your kiddo that they don't knock something when walking around, but still, the shop, the atmosphere, the items to chose from, and the absolute enjoyment of the little kids while they paint something very special is worth every moment! For the most part it's somewhat quiet. Kids talk, parents talk, but I've never been there when there have been loud obnoxious kids. It's overall a very enjoyable, peaceful environment. bright and cheery. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because it gets pricey. My daughter and I painted the other day and it cost me $35. Pottery cost, and sitting fee. The cost includes the firing of the pottery. P.S. It is right next to a cupcake shop and STARBUCKS. Need I say more? This place is fantastic! It's fun for all ages. My girlfriends and I went here for a girls day, because we are a creative bunch, and had a great time. I had never been to a place like this, so I didn't know what to expect. There are so many items to choose from, and from all price points. This place is GREAT - Creative or not, it brings out the artist in you! I personally have painted more pieces for gifts, than for myself, and the recipients LOVE them. Nothing is better than something personal, especially when painted with love. The team is very helpful when it comes to picking colors, painting techniques, etc. In fact, I have taken my twin nieces here since they were babies (for hand and foot prints on projects for mommy and daddy) and they are now 5 and have made beautiful pieces of their own and for gifts. They are always asking to go "painting". Yes, it can be kind of crazy with the kiddie parties going on, but they do have a party room for that. And, also around the holidays - so be prepared for that too. If you're not into crowds or noise, phone ahead and ask if they are busy, they will be honest with their answer. As for pricing, their prices are comparable to other places, do your research and you will know they are fair. And, if you don't complete your project, you can come back and pay half price for the sitting fee. Halloween is coming up --- they have cute light up pumpkins to paint! :) read more

Ugh! I love this place! Maybe it's because it pleases the child in me. Not literally. I've only been here once, but i'm dying to come back! I came here with my boyfriend a few months ago and I painted this brachiosaurus piggy bank. I had a blast! We were in there for no less than four hours just having a chat, sipping our starbucks, and getting really intricate with our artwork! The staff here was great. They were very informative on what we had to do, where everything was, and complimenting our work. I realize I'm 20, but I like feeling like a child and getting compliments on my childish painting. It was very heartwarming. I'm not sure if that's the word I'm looking for but I had so much fun here. I definitely want to come back here to make things for Christmas 2011 this year for others. They have a lot of promotions that they do and we've always had great, friendly service. This is definitely a fun place for both adults and children to spend some time at! Pick out your piece and paint it however you like! They have lots of paint options, including specialty paints. They also have stamps, stencils, unique brushes, and various techniques you can use to create the perfect piece. The ladies working there seemed very sweet and kind. I wish they would have given us a little more information when we first walked in. They warmly greeted us but gave us no directions as to how things worked. I'm assuming that's because they have so many regulars :) It was a quiet and relaxing environment. When we left we were told our pieces would be ready within the week. I went here to paint with my mom for a girls afternoon out. Unfortunately we didn't know they specialize in kids parties. There were 2 going on at the same time. It was very loud in the little shop. It is also very bright by the front windows as the sun goes down, it was kind of blinding, shades would be a good investment for them. We did enjoy painting, and our pieces came out very nice about a week later. You can use as much paint as you want as you are crafting, and they have many pieces to choose from. I have painted at this studio with friends and my grandchildren, and have always had a good time. The staff are friendly, professional, and encouraging. Some pieces have turned out so nice that I have been able to give them as gifts. They have a wide range of pottery and prices so that I can spend an hour or several hours all in a pleasant environment. Wow, this is a terrible shop. They have some cute pieces to paint, and the supplies to get creative with it (like, a few different kinds of glazes, mosaic supplies, stuff like that), and their prices are expensive but not terrible. But this is one of the worst atmospheres to paint in. The owner and manager are TERRIBLE. The whole time I was in there the first time, the owner spent screaming at her kids (at least I hope they weren't someone else's kids!) and being snarky to the girl working the counter. The second time I was in there, she spent the whole time bitching to the manager, who was beyond rude. They were both rude, in fact. And loud. And nasty. And the shop is small enough and they were loud enough that there was NO getting away from them while I painted. There is the option to take pieces home to paint, but you have to use their paints (understandable, since using the wrong glaze for the cone at which they fire can cause serious damage in the kiln), which are way over priced. I definitely won't be going back, and I wouldn't recommend this store to anyone I like. The staff will certainly make your visit unpleasant. read more

Meh! We took my nieces here to paint gifts for their parents anniversary. Great idea on my part if I do say so myself. However, I really don't think their prices are appropriate. I have never been to a place like this...so maybe that's why I didn't care for this set up...but all 3 pieces the girls painted had chipped within a couple of days. The layout is not great. Due to it being summer, and HOT, everyone seemed to be flooding in with their kids. Small kids, breakable stuff, paint...recipe for disaster! We were sitting at a high top table because it was the only one available. We offered to wait, but the woman working their explained that she wasn't sure any tables would be opening up for an hour or so we should just take what we could get. Ok, fine...but now we have 2 little kids on really high chairs right by the entryway door. Everyone who walked past us bumped into their chairs. I get that they want to fit a lot of people into the space at once, but I think there needs to be more room to move around, more space to drop your stuff...maybe under the table or next to the table or something. When I went to pick up the pieces, the woman seemed to be in a hurry and just handed me the 3 pieces...without wrapping them up. I guess I didn't think I'd have to supply my own bubble wrap/bag/packing peanuts. This is a great idea...but just really overpriced. The staff was definitely not helpful and friendly. I said I had never been to a place like this before and the woman actually said "...well I suppose you'll need me to walk you through every single step then, huh?" Hmmm....well, I know the paint goes on the little horse statue, but yeah, I'd say for the amount I'm paying for these things, you could show me where to get the paint and how many coats we should put on. The kids even said they didn't like it because they got yelled at when they walked by the displays to pick out their pieces. They didn't touch a single thing, I picked up the ones they wanted. I'm guessing it was the owner, yelled from the other end of the shop that I shouldn't let them so close to the stuff. Well Ms. Owner lady...my nieces are doing fine...the kid you were holding a second ago who seems to enjoy squeezing that bottle of paint onto the ground probably needs your attention more than these girls do....thanks though. read more

My daughter and I both love going here! Once a month they have Midnight Madness, open from 7pm - Midnight with $1 sitting fee. Snacks and drinks are served and you can bring in your own (even wine). Went here with my mom and sisters. Enjoyed our time together however my memory of the day was ruined by their glaze. There was a big, noticeable, uneven area on the platter. I complained and the only resolution they offered was to refund the price of the platter, I had to pay the "sitting fee" because I was told I used the paint. They kept the platter. You definitely need to lock in about 3 hours for a medium sized pottery. Sometimes you need it to dry before a double coat. The following week, it came back glazed and looked amazing! What a totally unpleasant place! The prices are okay - it's cheaper than Handmade on Main - but the staff is terrible. I've never met anyone more unpleasant than the owner, Miriam, who spent the entire time I was there screaming at her children. Then, she was snarky to me and to the girl who was working the counter. When I went in to pick up my piece, yet another staff-person was rude to me.
