Recently I ordered a party kit to go for my daughters birthday party. The staff at Alpaca Art made the process so easy! I was able to pick out the pieces for painting and in the kit they gave directions and samples to show the kids. Once we brought it back it only took a week to get the fired pieces back! They even separated them and packaged them per child so I didn't have to look through and try to do that myself! They did all of the work for me! This is a review Aplaca Art's birthday party event. I booked my 7 year old's party here after previously stopping by to paint pottery. I can't compliment them enough. It should be noted that this review takes place at the location on 7th street and they have since moved but I feel confident in saying the overall atmosphere and experience will remain the same. I regret I do not have any pictures of the new location on 6th Street but it also is very nice. They went out of their way to make the party area special (which they decorate nicely for an small extra fee) and were helpful in instructing the kids (and adults). They stood by ready to help without being obtrusive or overbearing and were relaxed and fun to talk to. There are different prices of party packages but all include different options of pottery to paint. This party package includes the painting. If you wish to have food you can bring pizza and they have a neat deal with Kaiser's pizza (I'll also review) who will deliver and give you a discount if you're having a party at Alpaca. This is a very cool option if you're looking for something interesting and fun that is outside of standard birthday party venue. Went here with my fiance on a Thursday afternoon/evening. I thought it would be something fun for both of us. I didn't know how right I would be. Maria greeted us warmly as soon as we entered the door. We explained we were first-timers at their event but both of us had "dabbled" with ceramics YEARS ago. Short enough time to remember enjoying it, long enough to forget everything else. She did a great job of explaining how all the pieces had prices on the bottom and how many coats were suggested. She even walked my fiance through placing an emblem on his mug. The music from the 70's/80's in the background was quite calming and allowed us to get in our painting mode quickly. I had to apologize every now and then to the other customers for singing along. I can't help myself. Every now and then we'd be "interrupted" to replace our dirty water (from cleaning our brushes) and check on how we were doing. Another gentleman started working but his name tag was broken (they're ceramic tiles!!!) so I can't recall his name but I do recall he was very nice and informative as well. I called to see if my pieces were ready the day before we were due to pick them up since I was going to be in the area. I would have been ok if they weren't since I was just trying to save an extra trip. Lucky for me, they were done and ready for me to pick up. I love how both pieces turned out. I wasn't sure what to expect given my "mostly a beginner" status but it's not a piece I'll have to hide from others. :) My only "complaint" is that it doesn't stay open later. I work outside of town and would love to stop in after work but two hours doesn't seem long enough for me to work on a piece. It probably is. I just like to know I have enough time. If you're thinking about going, go. It's a fun stop, you'll be able to relax, and have a souvenir from your trip there. Will be trying to attend one of their events in the future. :) read more

Went in for galaxy night last night, Megan was an amazing instructor she did such a good job. It's not easy to teach a class an art technique because not everyone is going to be ready to learn the next step. She took the time to stop at each table and explain what the techniques were. I am excited to paint another galaxy piece. Everyone at Alpaca is so helpful and informative. There are so many amazing pieces to choose from and everything is organized well and kept very clean. Can't fail to be entertained by this quirky, Willinois, pottery painting destination. Ladies nights allow you to bring your besties, food & wine/drinks, so you can hang & paint. You can create a masterpiece OR some piece of horribilia. Naturally, people will compliment both publicly, but murmur their revulsion quietly behind your back. In case there is not a suitable pre-made pottery to your liking, you can also buy some clay and sculpt your own hideous bit of clutter to leave your descendents. Or Goodwill. I really had a fun time painting a ceramic ornament with my sister. This was a great experience. I have been to other places like this and they are much more expensive. I took my first granddaughter to Alpaca Art in March to celebrate her birthday. This was the first time I have ever been there so I did not know what to expect. Since then I have taken a second granddaughter there and believe me, she was looking forward to it! Everyone was so helpful and encouraging to us. The selection of pottery was amazing as were the available colors! We had a very fun and enjoyable experience and painted a birthday plate and cup. I enjoyed the creating and the friendly help. The staff has made our special birthday celebrations unique and fun! Each child will have a special birthday memento that can be used instead of stored and know they made it themselves. I don't think their prices are out of line considering everything you get and have access to. I highly recommend it! read more

What a fun place! If you blink you could miss this unassuming entrance. This is a place for ages young and old, with a $7 studio fee you are entitled to all the paint and art supplies. They have stacks of pottery to choose from, and all different sizes and price points. You pick your piece, and get to painting, when you are done they give you a receipt and cute and glaze it for you. In a few days you pick it up and have a beautiful new art piece to add to your home! They offer specials certain nights and I believe they even have live music on occasion so it is fun for a night out as well! They are amazingly accommodating and I have seen multiple birthday parties there and I can see why. They allow food and beverages to be served while you paint as long as you pick up after yourself and be respectful (but that should be a given) So take the kiddos for a fun afternoon or grab a bottle of wine and some finger foods for a fun ladies night. Had a wonderful time visiting with my family today. Aged 68 to 10. We all had a great time. Instructor was friendly and answered all our questions. Then left us to create! We tried this out on a Groupon, because my youngest nephew was interested. Would definitely go again! First Fridays have family nights where you can bring your owns snacks and beverages and get half price studio fees. Studio fees are well worth it. Normally $7, they provide everything you need from smocks to paints, brushes, sponges and stencils and more. The pieces we selected ranged from $3 for a small egg to $21 each for two larger pieces, a very nice vase and serving platter. read more
