    Making a paperweight
    Lynn R.

What a fun family activity. Very safe during covid. We went to make paperweights and really enjoyed the time but also learned about glass artistry. The instruction was helpful for being a newbie. No need to worry, you get walked through the entire process. We are already looking forward to a return visit to make a new creation.

Went here with some family to try out the little ornaments that you can make. It was a really fun and super quick experience. I loved how we could pick our own colors. I believe that they have different things you can make throughout the year. We will definitely be back in February to make the hearts! The staff is really friendly and they're really good at explaining everything to you and walking you through all of the steps. Go try it out!!

It was hot and humid this day so the shop was pretty hot but that is what was expected. The owner and the other glass maker were running the workshop. The did a great job of explaining the entire process, the equipment , and more ipmortantntly safety. It was easy to follow but rest assured, they will remind you about everything they reviewed. As we sat at the table, their were exampples of the products we can make. 3 od 4 selected a paper weight and 1 wanted to make a gazing ball. The forst thing we did as a group was pick colors that goes into the glass. Then we went one by one and and the glass makers were very thorough on the the process and helped along the way. There were times, we just handled the process. Hewas very good on safety and keeping an eye on us. The glass get as hot as lava. After you are done, they put in in an area to set. You will need to pick it uo next day. The overall price iwas high but s what I expected to pay. It was really about team bonding and not getting burned - lol. Kidding asise, I'd do it again and if you wanted to try, I recommend going here!

From the start, the instructors were welcoming and did a great job walking us through each step of the process so we felt comfortable, even as total beginners. We loved getting to pick our colors (the selection wasn't huge, but there were still some really pretty options), and then actually working with the molten glass was so cool. The process of dipping the rod into the furnace, gathering the glass, shaping it, and then blowing it into a bowl was fascinating and surprisingly hands-on. The instructors guided us through each step, helping with timing and technique while still letting us feel involved in creating our piece. It made for such a unique and fun date night, and we both left feeling like we learned something new. One of the best parts is that you end up with a beautiful, functional bowl that you can actually use at home, which makes the experience even more special. The only small surprise was that you have to wait about 5 days to pick up your finished piece while it cools properly, but that's understandable given the process. Overall, we had an amazing time and would highly recommend this class to anyone looking for a fun, creative experience!

I had installed it into my present house and my wife and I enjoyed looking at it every time we walked into our bedroom. Last year I noticed the glass was coming out of the leading holding it together. Upon further investigation I realized that the wood frame was rotted on the outside causing the issue. The glass was literally sinking out of the frame. After searching the internet I stumbled across Art Glass and Studio. I'm sure glad I did. Lawrence (Law) was a pleasure to work with! He was honest and realistic about his timeframe for assessing the situation and actually getting the work started and finished. I really appreciated that he let us know that he is a busy guy handling a number of projects at the same time but would give our window his utmost attention when our time came. He gave us plenty of options for the repairs working with our budget and suggesting different methods for reinstallation of the window. The option we chose was to make the window a decorative piece instead of an actual permanent window. That way if we move again or our children want the window to stay in the family after we're gone it will be easier to move it to the next place. When it came time for our window to be worked on, I removed it from our house (my choice to save money) and took it over to his shop. Law started on it and kept us informed as to how it was going. Once started, he finished it quickly and it looks great! In this day and age of "bait and switch" it was such a pleasure to work with someone who actually does what he says and does great work. This window was built around 1870 and thanks to Art Glass and Studio (Law) it should have another 150 years of in it. I highly recommend them

Watch for seasonal classes (heart paperweight! turkey ornament!). Unlike the other suburban glass studio I've taken classes at, they also have a gift shop, so you can buy something instead of having to take a class if that's your jam. You could also actually buy the piece used to advertise a class. Pieces are affordable and there's a wide variety (cute little succulent gardens, stained glass, glass ornaments, resin keychains, etc.). Class prices are similar or a little less than what I've seen elsewhere, and if you become a member they're cheaper. Yes, they do open studio. I took a resin class, which was easy and fun; the teacher was patient and helpful. Class sizes are small (I actually got a solo class as a group canceled at the last minute). The owner was there, who was happy to show me cool projects related to the class I took, as well as to offer information about other classes they do. Signage is pretty good; you have to drive down a driveway to get to the businesses on the ground floor - look for the sign. Lots of parking.

Walking into the store, it is split into two sections. Clothing and accessories is located in the front of the store. The back of the store is home to the beautiful glass art that is presented in functional glass art pieces. The functionality is limited to smoking devices such as pipes, bubblers, and water pipes and their initial display is fairly basic. But the large glass cabinets in each corner hold the true beauty of the glass art style. Professionally blown glass with price tags of upwards of $500 sit in the stands. The array of styles is absolutely wonderful. One has to look past the stigma associated with glass pipes and art to be able to see the technical beauty that is involved in each piece. Another way to further understand the work and vision that goes into these pieces is to become involved in one of their glass expos or glassblowing lessons. They offer lessons on glass blowing charged per hour. I believe it is $50/hour, but don't quote me on that. It's a one on one opportunity to learn the basics of glass blowing. They also host various regional glass expos. During these expos, famous glass artists and their enthusiasts travel to All About It to discuss, observe, and blow glass. It is truly amazing to watch these pros work. There are two warnings I must emphasize. One, it is a smoke shop so all of the glass pieces are sold for tobacco use. Two, the employees get to decide what music they listen to for the day. Depending on what time you go there, the music can range from soft techno to loud, vulgar rap and/or metal. Overall, it is a wonderful place to visit even if you aren't a tobacco smoker. The glass art they have on display is truly exquisite and due to the in house glass blowing, wide array of beautiful, professional pieces, and regional recognition, I would rate this better then most of the other glass and tobacco accessories shop in the area.
