I tried responding back via text and calling but I don't think she is a real person because she simply would never respond back. So, I kept calling the main number and her number several times. I also sent texts to "Melanie". They simply would not pickup the phone or answer my messages. I am in the process of relocating from Chicago to Houston. So, I decided to give an apartment finding company a chance. In Chicago, there are a ton of these services. They actually will pick up the phone on the first ring and meet with you within days (usually the same day). This company not so much. I did end up finding an apartment on my own. It was tough but I did it with no help what so ever.

Afton Gardens are located in a very upscale, residential neighborhood, and safety is never a factor. The apartments are gated, and even though your car is not in a gated area, safety is never an issue. Being a woman living alone, this is an extremely important factor for me. I come to Houston from Ohio every winter for a couple of months. I think Afton Gardens is absolutely the best deal in town! I wouldn't consider staying anyplace else while visiting the Houston area. Once I no longer needed his service (I found my own place), he continued to spam my E-mail account with invitations to rental/homebuying events to promote his business. I had to ask him a few times with a call to the office to request this to stop. It started with LinkedIn, and then through other similar social media mediums, then E-mail. Finally the office took care of it and I had to take the extra step to block him. Then, two years later, another agent who connected with me through LinkedIn as well began to do the same practice. In no way did I ever ask to opt-in to any of these invitations. That means I'm on another distribution list that I never agreed to. She is sending Evites--without any opt-out buttons. I had to contact ULR again, and another agent profusely apologized to me. I'm not into this spamming marketing practice because quite honestly, it cheapens a business and creates a desperate image. Do some of these agents like getting cold calls from random numbers themselves and pressured into something they don't need? I don't think any of us do! So it would imply that with common sense, you shouldn't do what you don't enjoy yourself, to people who aren't clearly requesting your service. The agent who helped me get myself removed from a distribution list (again) says that she doesn't practice those methods herself and aren't exemplary of ULR as a whole, but no one seems to be encouraging or reminding other agents to stop the SPAM method. I never experience this when I contact an agent through HAR. Bottom line: I get it, it works once on a blue moon, but if you're about branding yourself as a high quality agent, this spam stuff is not a lot of people's cup of tea. Try this instead, reach out to a potential client directly and ask if they're currently interested in renting/buying or would like to remain in touch in the future if neither are currently an option. Don't force me into your impersonal mass distribution list against my will. This being my typically experience with a locator. Angelica actually found out all the little details I needed to know in order to make my decision. If the Apartment complex management teams were as motivated as she was to ensure a pleasant experience this could have been a totally awesome experience. Even during the window renovation project, the staff stayed positive, worked through challenges, and completed everything as smoothly as possible, which truly showed their dedication. The community events are creative and well planned, offering a great balance of fun and more mature gatherings. The amenities are well maintained, and the 9th floor is rarely crowded, providing plenty of space to work or relax. The outdoor gym and other amenities are also excellent, making it easy to get a workout in or unwind by the pool. Beyond the property itself, the location is ideal close to the Medical Center, downtown, the Galleria, and River Oaks. It's especially great during the holidays, whether it's walking around to see the Halloween or Christmas décor. With the award-winning recognition this community has received, I'm confident there are many more ahead. There are more than 10 Airbnb units on the property, and I live directly next to one. Every few days there are new groups of strangers coming and going. The constant turnover of short-term guests has created a lack of community investment and stability, which is not what many long-term residents signed up for when choosing to live here. Another major issue is that management has failed to maintain basic amenities. The package center has been broken for an extended period of time, and despite ongoing complaints, it has not been properly repaired or replaced with functioning equipment. Noise has also become a serious problem. A tenant who was previously evicted has returned and now lives across from my apartment. On many nights, music is played so loudly that the bass vibrates my bedroom wall from approximately 7:30 p.m. until as late as 3:00 a.m. This has made it extremely difficult to rest and enjoy quiet time in my own home. Overall, the combination of excessive short-term rentals, poorly maintained amenities, and ongoing noise disturbances has significantly reduced the quality of living here. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not recommend moving here.
