The prices are average, not over-priced, and the staff is absolutely excellent at helping you find the best tools for you! I was looking at paints one day, not really sure what brands were the best or worst, and as I was going to check out, the lovely older gentleman of the staff actually helped me find a type of paint that was cheaper than what I had picked out yet would still work perfectly for what I wanted. He helped me save money and gave me some useful information, not to mention that he and the other staff members are always very friendly! I love making trips down to Artware!

Went to Hobby Lobby and my cashier was very rude to me. Our cashier, Sylvia or something like that,…read moreput the items in the bag before putting the price in, so I let her know she hadn't put the price in yet in case she forgot. I didn't want her to get in trouble. She gave a dirty look, looked at another customer, and asked me in a rude tone if I'm not getting my items. I told her I am getting my items, and just reminding her she hadn't charged me for them. She looked at another customer and began laughing in my face. Then she very rudely told me that she always puts items in the bag before charging. I apologized because I didn't know and she rolled her eyes at me ignoring me. She proceeded to keep side-eyeing the other customer and smirking like as if she were judging me.

It's obvious the care that goes into curating the shop and I love that they carry unique gifts for each person on my list. They support other small businesses/artists and the owner/employees are just lovely people in general. The shop is dog-friendly too! We are up here for the summer from Texas, and I swear I'd move up here for Wegmans and this amazing…read moreart shop. My husband grew up here, and I've been visiting with him for quite a while. I never really noticed this place before, probably because I wasn't painting at the time. I recently took up, watercolor, and brought all my stuff up here, but needed a few extra supplies. During my first visit, I noticed they had a workshop on that upcoming Saturday, and I eagerly signed up for it. It was an all-day workshop with Paul Taylor, and he was an INCREDIBLE instructor. Even though I had taken classes for three months before we left Texas, I learned so much from him in that one day. The class focused on doing one painting from beginning to end, and you would think an seven hour day would be too much for one painting, but it was absolutely perfect. It allowed us to take our time and allowed time for him to explain every move and assist us as we painted. Now about the shop... What a jewel! It is very well stocked, and had almost everything I needed, except for a couple of paint colors. But to top it off, the owner was working the day I visited, and she was so incredibly helpful. She walked around and helped me find everything I needed, and we had a wonderful visit while I was there. I returned again on another day when a young woman was working, and she was equally as helpful and enjoyable. When we come up here next year, I think I'm going to base our visits around the classes they offer. I would love to take the watercolor class that they offer that goes on for several weeks. If you consider yourself even remotely, creative and artistic, skip Hobby Lobby, and Michaels and support this wonderful local establishment.

Great experience here! They even have a summer camp for kids. I believe there's art classes for all ages here too. Wonderful place that offers great art supplies.
