While I like their thorough eye exams, I did not like the fact that I've experienced wait times greater than 60 minutes just to see the doctor. This was not just one occassion, this phenomenon happened to me three times within two years (twice with me and once with my daughter). I've also experienced times when I had a followup specialty appointment that was not scheduled although they said it was. Therefore, I took unnecessary time off from work for a phantom appointment. Judging by the wait time and packed waiting room, there are obviously pleased customers. My mother-in-law recommended them to me and she still goes there. They just weren't the match for me and I took my business elsewhere. read more

I've been a medical patient at Clayton Eye Center for many years. I live in Morrow so it is very convenient. Dr Weikers was my doctor until she left and I've seen Dr. Ambrosia twice since then. She is pleasant and efficient. The medical staff are good. The rest of the staff is awful. They do not care how long you have to wait. They over book appointments. My appointment was for 1:50 and i arrived on time. Today I waited more than an hour, and they never got around to checking me in! I finally had to leave because I had another (and more important) appointment at 5:30 and there was not enough time for them to do all the testing that needs to be done. I've had 4 appts since January, two were cancelled by them, one I had to cancel due to illness and then today when I had to leave. I arrived on time and had arranged plenty of time for all the testing. This ended up being a waste of my entire day, between having to arrange for a ride and to be picked up. I would like to say that I have been to this facility myself . The doctors are great but its like they are scheduling so many people that the wait to see the doctors is terrible. If you do not have the time slot available then do not schedule! I referred my friend and now I am thinking he should have went somewhere else. It is hard enough to get off of work to make the appointments and then you have to wait 2 hours for something that should have taken no more than 30 minutes. Would that same Dr. wait 2 to 3 hours to see someone... hmmmm..... I don't think so. People who have insurance and have to pay a co pay every time they are seen and pay all the of the money up front without being able to make payment arrangements are already screwed!! read more

I went to this location a week after a family member who had a severe case of viral conjunctivitis. It was highly contagious so of course I got it. She went and got treated, received meds and her eyes were back to normal in a week. I went to the same doctor. My family member and I are on the same insurance. I was told that they couldn't find a record of her visit even though she was there only 2 weeks ago. I was also told we hadn't reached our deductible and i would have to pay full price for the visit. My family member just paid $0 two weeks ago and I have the same ailment and I have to pay full price? I ended up using some of the meds that were prescribed to the family member and of course it was too strong. My eyesight is blurry and hard to focus. I'll take the blame for using the meds but not seeing me because your records were wrong???Not sure how you mess up someone's medical file who was just there 2 weeks ago. read more

This is the last time that's a thought of Clayton Eye Center will pass through my head, but I wanted to make sure that my fellow customers knew what I experienced. I am a long-time customer of Clayton Eye Center. I went to the center for an examination. Cataract surgery was recommended, they checked with my insurance company, told me what the insurance company would pay, and what would be due from me before the surgery could be performed. The amount sounded reasonable, so I agreed. Per their instructions, I paid the total amount THEY said was due and had the procedure performed. That's when the additional charges started coming. The surgery is done, the charges (over $1000 additional dollars) are posted to my account, and there's nothing I can do about it. I was instructed by the CEC that if I have a problem with the additional charges, I needed to contact my insurance company, but the insurance company informed them of what they would pay during the pre-approval. CEC either shorted the amount that I would owe until after the procedure, or they simply raise the price. So, I like so many others, either pay the additional money, or take the credit hit. They say I was told that the amount could change, but I was not. And what's the purpose of the pre-approval if you can simply change the numbers? Please pay very close attention to what you're being told at Clayton Eye Center!!! read more

I realize l am the spouse and not the patient, but anyone who can find another surgery center should do so. The first surgery went off flawlessly despite what l would call mediocre support staff. Not so for surgery#2. The check in process took well over an hour because first, the computer was down and the employee didn't know how to fix the problem. Then, when the employee brought in someone to assist him, she asked the same questions and then had him complete forms that should have been completed on his INITIAL CONSULTATION! To add insult to injury, we sat there 2 HOURS when they told is to come back tomorrow the machine was broken. Cutting to the chase, we showed up the next day, the machine was still broken, and the mediocre support staff didn't have the decency to notify us. Still waiting on the patient liaison to help. Not holding my breath. read more

Family has been going here for at least 10 years. They are now after the mighty $$. I took my child for annual eye exam. What a joke they said I owed 24.00 from 2011 and they only send out 1 notice for accounts under 50.00 so if you miss it are they didn't send, oh well. Then they charge you 10.00. When you get there a year later they send an eldery lady that sits you down like a child and talks to you like a child. I forgot my wallet which had all info, but remember we have been here for over 10 years, They would not look up my info. Went back home got info and my child was all done with exam!!!!! I will now look for a different eye care place. This place hords people in like cattle!! Do not go here. They have gotten to big for there own good. In and Out Eye care service. read more

This Optometry center is the least professional and courteous place I have ever been! It is in my BlueCross BlueShield Insurance network under my policy at Allan Vigil Ford, I am in Internet Marketing for the dealership and Customer Service is constantly a focus for me, I ripped a contact lens while cleaning it at work. I have horrible vision and can barely see anything without corrective lenses. I immediately called Clayton Eye Center because they are right up the street from us to see if they could assist me out of this emergency, and provide me with another lens. I was on hold for 20 minutes before I was answered, then the receptionist transferred me to the contacts department where I was on hold for 25 minutes before going to an automated answering machine. After wasting nearly an hour of my time I decided to just drive there since it was just up the road, I made the journey with one eye closed so I could see out of the other with my only corrective lens. I arrive there at 3:30pm and explain my situation to a receptionist. She directs me behind the counter to fill out some forms and give them my insurance, after filling out the forms and waiting they directed me to a contacts consultation center where they had me take out and throw away my contact. Then a receptionist came back and asked if it was my first time there. I told her it was and she explained they had no prescription on file and could not give me replacement contacts. I told her I had my prescription, I just need some new contacts. She said they could not take a prescription from me I would need an eye exam, and a consultation. I was not happy about having to pay for that, in addition to purchasing contacts, but at this point I had no other choice I now had no contacts. So I ask her, how much will it all be? she says she does not know, but I did not have an appointment and there is not an appointment or a doctor available for me that day and would have to come back tomorrow. I got angry because they literally had just made me unable to see and I STILL HAD TO DRIVE HOME. I had contacts at home, the whole point of me going there was to get a lens so I could see for my commute home. They did not assist me and were willing to ENDANGER my life and others by not providing replacement lenses so I could see to drive. I ended up having to get a co-worker to drive me home and back to work today to get my car. I feel horribly mistreated, and how they choose to practice business is atrocious. Nobody should be treated that way. All just to make some extra money from an exam and consultation. read more

I just had my first cataract removed !!! WONDERFUL !! Some talk about the wait, but it is so worth it !! Maybe someday you can figure out how to cut down on the wait time especially for us older ones :) I'm sitting here now, with glasses seeing the words I type. WOW !! first time visit for reguilar exam .dr was good but let me said after see him everything was not as it was supposed to be. i used my insurance for the exam and discussed contact lenses with the doctor. when time came for check out i was told that i could not get a prescription but would have to pay $107.00 for the contact lenses there. they refused to give me a prescription and it was a waste of my time to have the exam. i would avoid going in and wasting my time. i requested my medical file and was told that there could be an added charge for this. read more
