I would give this outfit negative stars if possible. This…read moresummer I was headed east on I-90 when my truck overheated. I got on the phone and called around Cle Elum and this was the only place but said he could work on it that day. When I got there he took 5 seconds and declared it was the water pump but he could not work on it that day. He said it would be $150 to replace. I left the truck and did not hear back from him until I made a couple of phone calls over the next few days. When I arrived to pick it up he said he also put in a new starter and temperature gauge and the bill was now $400. He had never informed me of this extra work or the increased bill. I paid him and drove away making it to the edge of town before the truck overheated again. This time he said the head was cracked and it would be $1,200 to put on a used head. It took him almost three months to complete that while not returning my phone calls. When I came to pick it up he said he had also put in a new fuel pump and the bill was now over $1,700. I paid him and once again made it to the edge of town before it overheated. When I popped the hood I saw that he had not reconnected the air filter intake housing and it had melted because it was lying against the engine. He also failed to connect the radiator which dumped all the coolant out. However, this time he said someone had given him a bad head manifold. Again there's a long delay before I picked it up after repairing all this. We had sharp words about the additional charges and the incredible long time delaybut he refused to release it unless everything was paid. This time when I drove away the transmission would not work which was very odd because I had not had any problems with that before. Free This guy is a nightmare. Rude, no communication, charges more than he quotes, does not do repairs properly, and does not return allegedly defective parts he claims he needed to replace.

If you are ever unfortunate enough to break down in Cle Elum I suggest only going to Sam's Shop if…read moreyou can't go anywhere else...or you have tons of time on your hands. Here is the breakdown of events: 12:30 Drop of car with part to be installed. Sam says it will take 45min - 1 hour to repair. He said he if it went over 1.5 hours he wouldn't charge more. "Come back at 2:00 and it will be all ready". I give him my key. 2:00 Drive up Sam is no where. My car is jacked up and the some bolts have been removed. I wander through the garage and he is in back eating lunch or something with a buddy. He tells me it will only need another 30 minutes. "Come back at 2:30-3:00" 3:00: I come back the axle is removed so there has been some progress. Sam is talking to a buddy who drove up in a car. He said "I was waiting for you to come because I had a question. Do you want me to put these things on?" I said "The put them in the box might as well". He says again another 30 minutes. I go to a pub nearby and have a pint or two. 4:00: Walk back Sam is back to his old hiding spot in the back. Nothing has changed in the hour I was gone. He said I got it all ready just have to put the axle back on but needed a cigarette to think. He said I could say and he would have it on in 10 minutes. I got sit by the car and start looking under it to see what is going on. He comes out and I start handing him tools he needs to make sure he doesn't stop. 30 minutes later it is all done. So Sam swears a blue streak while he works on cars so if you have kids keep them away. He also gets very frustrated all the time and throws his tools and your bolts around. He is also very forgetful he "lost" the key I gave him insisting that I didn't give it to him because he "always puts the keys on the board." After 20 more minutes of looking for the key he asks me "do you have anywhere to be." To which I reply "not anymore" and he suggests I drive it around for 30 minutes and bring it back if there are any problems. So the good news is that he has the tools and knowledge to repair your car and seems like a nice enough guy. The bad news is he seems to have focus issues. Stay there and keep him on track and I think he would deserve 3 if not 4 stars.

Took care of our issue at low cost and gave us a thorough recommendation on what to repair. He also took the time to call around local establishments to see if they would be able to fix the problem (possibly at a lower cost) and recommended those places. My car died while I was driving it and had it towed here…read more After 4 hours of diagnostics and $600 later, Darrell told me he found metal in my oil and it'd need a new engine (basically it was done for as it wouldn't have been worth an engine replacement). Knowing to never trust a mechanic I do not know, I got a second opinion. Darrell hadn't even drained the oil that he said he found metal in and no metal was found in it when it was drained. I've truly never met a shoddier mechanic. Sounds like he can do some minor air conditioner repairs from the reviews I've seen, but figured I'd give a real review of his diagnostics. By the way, all my vehicle needed was some new spark plugs and ignition coils, under $200 repair. It's running smoothly and definitely has years before it'll need trashed. Don't go to this guy unless you want to waste money and potentially be out a whole car. If you want a good recommendation, go to Auto Care Experts in Yakima.

I bought a used International Harvester ambulance over in Seattle and was headed home to Palouse,…read moreWA when I stopped in Ellensburg for windshield wipers and a wash. The ambulance began cutting out intermittently and I stopped for lunch and searched local diesel shops on my phone. Crossroad Garage had great reviews, so decided to try and get there. I called and Brianna said they could diagnose it immediately, but probably not fix it until the next day. On the way there, it died and I towed it in with my support vehicle. They said it was a fuel pressure issue, but needed more time the next day to know for sure. Within an hour of them opening the next day, Brianna called and told me what was wrong, and that parts were available in Yakima, and the repair would be $1800. She couldn't guarantee that it would be fixed the same day, but they would try. I was called at 3pm and told it was ready. When I picked it up, the bill was $400 less than I was quoted. I paid and hit the road. I immediately noticed increased power and nearly twice the previous gas mileage. I made it the remaining 200 miles home without any further issues. Everyone there that I dealt with was pleasant and professional. They quickly diagnosed the issue and repaired it for less than what I was quoted. So happy, that I even bought one of the Black Rifle Co. trucker hats they had for sale!

Because of the dangerous situation, the owner skipped dinner and came to get me out of harm's way after calling me immediately after my insurance co contacted them for towing. Both the owner and his second tow truck driver were professional and friendly. After inspecting and guessing what the issue was they ordered the part that night (with no obligation if it wasn't needed). In the AM, they inspected my truck first thing and their previous night's assessment was spot on. The part came in shortly after and I was on the road a couple hours later. So much integrity!!! As a single woman traveling cross country I would have paid whatever was needed so I'd worried about a huge bill. I was so surprised that the whole solution was just over $400. p.s. after towing my truck they made sure I had a safe place to stay for the night. Talk about above and beyond service wise!!!
