I bought a used International Harvester ambulance over in Seattle and was headed home to Palouse, WA when I stopped in Ellensburg for windshield wipers and a wash. The ambulance began cutting out intermittently and I stopped for lunch and searched local diesel shops on my phone. Crossroad Garage had great reviews, so decided to try and get there. I called and Brianna said they could diagnose it immediately, but probably not fix it until the next day. On the way there, it died and I towed it in with my support vehicle. They said it was a fuel pressure issue, but needed more time the next day to know for sure. Within an hour of them opening the next day, Brianna called and told me what was wrong, and that parts were available in Yakima, and the repair would be $1800. She couldn't guarantee that it would be fixed the same day, but they would try. I was called at 3pm and told it was ready. When I picked it up, the bill was $400 less than I was quoted. I paid and hit the road. I immediately noticed increased power and nearly twice the previous gas mileage. I made it the remaining 200 miles home without any further issues. Everyone there that I dealt with was pleasant and professional. They quickly diagnosed the issue and repaired it for less than what I was quoted. Amazing service and extremely honest. I was stranded on I-90 at 5:30 pm and their sister towing company rescued me (with a Ford F-150 and 20' travel trailer). Because of the dangerous situation, the owner skipped dinner and came to get me out of harm's way after calling me immediately after my insurance co contacted them for towing. Both the owner and his second tow truck driver were professional and friendly. After inspecting and guessing what the issue was they ordered the part that night (with no obligation if it wasn't needed). In the AM, they inspected my truck first thing and their previous night's assessment was spot on. The part came in shortly after and I was on the road a couple hours later. So much integrity!!! As a single woman traveling cross country I would have paid whatever was needed so I'd worried about a huge bill. I was so surprised that the whole solution was just over $400. p.s. after towing my truck they made sure I had a safe place to stay for the night. Broke down the day after they allegedly fixed it. Spent 3k plus had to buy another vehicle after they didn't deliver on the date ELi promised multiple times he would. They new I was In NY working with Covid patients and they told me they would impound the vehicle if I didn't come pick it up. Very disappointed with the service I have received here. I had previously held this shop in high regard around town as they pointed me in the right direction to a welder a couple years back when I couldn't afford to tap and die my rear shocks to my Jeep. Now a couple weeks ago I had my Jeep towed to their shop after having some issues with my starter solenoid. They got it fixed in a relatively short amount of time, only taking extra time to "take it out on test drives" to make sure everything was fine. However, when I picked my vehicle up from their shop the next day, I was told that my fuel tank was below E and the battery was so low it was going to die any minute. I'm not sure how they went on test drives and ran the alternator or properly checked the battery with it being on the edge of dying. I ended up driving a couple miles to a gas station where I was basically forced to stop for gas. Once I turned off the car and filled up the tank, the battery died, and I had to jumpstart my car 15 minutes after picking it up from their shop. I called Eli at the shop and let him know what happened. He seemed to understand, we had a polite conversation about it and offered me some cash for the gas which I did not accept. I just wanted to let him know that a customer had a dead battery on pickup. Either way I thought it was an honest mistake. However, on further inspection of my invoice they had charged me 68$ for a battery cable cleanup. A simple add on to 'test' the system (again they barely charged the battery). However, when I was checking fluids a couple days later, the battery cables looked exactly the same, with the plastics coverings still sagging on the ends and the cables being dirty. The only part that was clean was the terminals which I had done before sending it to the shop. My father, who was a mechanic for over 30 years, called the shop to explain that the service that I was charged for had not been completed. He then got accusations from Eli that I accused the shop of "Stealing" a tank of gas. As if I thought they were going to steal 50$ worth of gas after charging me almost 600$ for a starter replacement on a 97 Cherokee. While the dead battery and low tank could have been an oversight (they did tell me twice that they went on test drives), accusing and lying about a customer to excuse a lack of service they charged for is not acceptable. I would not recommend this shop over any of the many competitors in Ellensburg. read more
