She was so helpful and friendly and answered all of my questions. I went to my first class and LOVED IT! It was not intimidating (like when you go to the classes at the gym) and all of the ladies were so friendly. We had fun, laughed, danced and sweated! I love that you can register and schedule classes online. They offer several different plans...you can pay per class, buy a group of classes (I think 5 classes) or get one month unlimited for only $49. I chose the unlimited and look forward to trying the other classes.

Unfortunately, when I moved to The Woodlands, I seriously injured my knee in a fall. After two years, I was ready to get back to Yoga. I was incredibly disappointed in the Gentle Yoga class on Thursdays. Unlike other classes, the instructor started with a meditation rather than stretching and preparing for the practice. She constantly talked about health research, her favorite poses, etc., which was, frankly, very annoying during practice. The poses were not demonstrated with the variations needed for those of us who had injuries from the past. Nor did she take the time and help individuals. Shavasevna is not the time for more guided meditation. There's a reason why Shavasevna is considered one of the most difficult poses in Yoga. It is impossible to relax and center yourself when someone is telling you to relax. The worst part of the whole experience is that my knee injury flared again. Probably because I was not properly stretched or helped with the more difficult poses. My search for the elusive perfect Gentle Yoga class continues......

Though the dances were low impact and at-your-own-pace, I still broke a sweat and didn't have to break once during an hour long class. The instructor was wonderful. She gave attention to every student and did a great job in explaining what muscle groups we needed to be using for each move. The studio is just right, comfortably fitting 10 to 15 students per class by my guess. They do other types of dance as well as kickboxing. I will definitely be checking them out. Right now they're offering a beginners first class for free which made the experience even sweeter. The only negative is I was expecting to receive a jingly hip scarf for my work out. I guess I should have asked (or maybe I'm expecting too much) but if you're not wearing a hip scarf, it's not really belly dancing. You're just kind of jiggling in place right? Oh well. They do sell the scarves for $10 which is reasonable.

I also found that my back would hurt for a couple days after each class which pointed to the fact that I didn't really know what I was doing. I have done just a few private sessions with Bethany and Karma Bee and I loved it. She took the time to tailor the session to my needs and spent time showing me how to safely and correctly work through the class and the poses. Bethany is a RN and was able to speak to health and wellness more confidently and from more experience than other instructors I have met. I feel more confident in my practice and am more safe with less back pain than before. Overall, I think Bethany and Karma Bee are great and I plan to recommend them to friends and family as often as I can.

All of the instructors are caring, supportive, and willing to go above and beyond to help their students. Although I have left the studio to go to college, I often find myself missing the instructors, my fellow dancers, and often find myself tapping in my living room because I miss dancing. I truly believe any dancer should come to this studio and be apart of this wonderful community. I have made lifelong friends and unforgettable memories at this studio, and was so glad that I was able to stay for as long as I did. Even though I have left the studio, the members of this studio have undoubtably influenced my life for the better.
