If I could give minus 1000 stars, I would. I am writing this so other homeowners are aware. This is my experience with CLEAN CHOICE POOL & SPA, and these are the facts. During routine pool service at my home, their employee opened my main water valve - that was closed for a good reason - without my permission while I had stepped away to Home Depot to buy a shower cartridge. When I returned, water was pouring into my garage. My home flooded from the top level down. One week before Christmas, EVERY room was water damaged and had to be demolished. When it happened, the employee called the owner on speakerphone and said he had made a "huge mistake," explaining what he had done. The owner responded, "Do not tell this to the lady," not realizing he was on speakerphone. That alone says it all. Instead of coming to assess the damage, he claimed that he was out of town and that he could not recall the name of his insurance carrier. From that moment on, they never showed up, neither the owner BOB, neither his son ADAM. I was left alone dealing with the consequences. What followed were more than 4 months of construction, two years of stress, a $5,000 deductible loss, and additional out-of-pocket expenses. Because I had to file through my own insurance, my homeowners policy was not renewed. In California, if you have a single water claim -- regardless of fault -- it is extremely difficult to obtain new coverage. To this day, I have been unable to secure a house insurance, and my mortgage has increased by $600 per month due to this lack of coverage. This experience has had serious financial and personal consequences for me. I have been fooled by their fake smiles and I regret it every day. When we had a problem with some algae, early in the relationship, he worked hard to mitigate it, and maintain the right level of ongoing treatment to ensure that our pool has been sparkling ever since. Whenever the big filter needs cleaning, it happens automatically, and we don't have to worry about it. Every week, they show up at the appointed time, scrub down the walls, test the chemistry, at the appropriate treatments, skim the pool and empty the skimmer baskets, check the equipment, and send us a confirmation of their service with the results of all tests, and a photograph of the pool. Even when we are traveling, we know that pool is well cared for. When we requested a different service date that would line up better with our landscaping team, Adam accommodated us. He always does. Just got off the phone with Bob. I called to shop for rates on cleaning since my longtime pool guy raised his rates on me. Bob is a super honest guy. He explained the rate increases are affecting everyone and even told me I've been getting a deal from my current pool service. Bob told me that if my pool guy is doing a good job, I should stick with him because loyalty is a big thing in the pool business. Bob could have taken my business if he really wanted to without undercutting my current pool guy by much at all. I went to Clean Choice Pool & Spa because the pool service company I used before were not doing a good job. During the first year or so I was actually quite satisfied with Clean Choice Pool & Spa; they converted the pool back to a saltwater pool and for the most part stayed on top of it. And to be fair, our pool is difficult to maintain. But Clean Choice knew that, and they understood how important it is to keep it well maintained all the time. I also told them that they had permission to do whatever was needed to keep the pool clean and running. And this is where it started to get bad. Some weeks they would show up and forget to clean the strainers in the pool and by the pump. Then they would not clean the filter when necessary. So several times the filter pump just couldn't pump the water through the filter and clogged strainers anymore and the pool started to turn green a few days after they had serviced it, which of course was always right before a weekend when we wanted to use the pool. When I would call them the owner would just tell me that it was because my pool was so hard to maintain and it was impossible to keep up. Well, they were able to do it just fine for a year, but then unfortunately dropped the ball. But as the saying goes, it's easier to win a client than to keep one. That requires consistently good service and reliability. And that's where Clean Choice Pool & Spa falls short. read more
