Top: Algae growth 48 hours after last company's "service" Bottom: Clean and clear pool and spa after Anthony's service

A pool that doesn't grow algae every week? Never thought I would be able to say that. My previous pool service company was unable to maintain my pool properly between their weekly services to the point that I would find algae growing every week just a few days after they had "serviced" my pool. When they decided to raise their prices, I decided it was time to find a new company. Now I feel like I struck gold since having AMG Pools come do our weekly services. The owner Anthony came out and took a look at my pool and I explained to him the situation and issues with the previous maintenance company. Within 2 services, the pool went from its usual state of having algae everywhere to being algae free and crystal clear! The best part...IT STAYED THAT WAY THE WHOLE WEEK!, bye bye to the weekly algae growth. So far it's been a month since Anthony has been servicing our pools and I can't remember the last time our pool was being this well maintained. Anthony's pricing is more than fair for the level of service he offers. He's gone above and beyond every time he's been out servicing the pool. If you're looking for a new pool service company, I highly recommend reaching out to Anthony and giving AMG a chance to earn your business, they've definitely found a new long time customer here! FYI the pool plaster is OVER 30 years old so it's gonna be a little discolored, but that's just the age of the pool.

Anthony does a great job keeping my pool sparkling clean!! I would highly recommend him.

Initial conversation of Anthony saying he was in an accident.

I would love to leave a positive review and recommend a family-owned business, but unfortunately, I cannot. I had Anthony and his son servicing my pool for a month and a half, having chosen Anthony based on the positive reviews on his Yelp page. Let me start by saying that Anthony's prices are far higher than the competition. He charges $165 per month for service and an annual $475 for chemicals, which equates to over $200 a month (I have a 10,000-gallon play pool). This was far more expensive than any other company, but you get what you pay for, right? Well, that's what I thought, and sadly, it didn't hold true. Anthony was hard to get in contact with, and often it would be hours before I heard from him. In the beginning, Anthony and his son were great. He sent me a picture of the before and after of my filter clean, which cost an additional $150. However, that did not continue--I only received pictures for the first filter clean. I met Anthony in person the second time he serviced my pool. He made it clear that he was in a hurry and didn't have time to talk, mentioning something along those lines. It caught me off guard, but I understand he is running a business; this was my first time meeting him, and I had questions about his processes. Fast forward, Anthony texted me on the day of my normal service to let me know he was in an accident and wouldn't be able to continue service. He also mentioned that I needed a bigger filter, which seemed odd to bring up considering his accident and inability to continue service. When I checked the pool, it was turning green--surprising since he should have been there a week prior. I wish I could post a positive review to support a family-owned business, but I cannot. His prices far exceeded those of his competition, and the results, communication, and reliability do not match the price he charges. I did receive a prorated amount back for the chemicals. This review is from a while ago, and I most likely would not have posted it had I not been abandoned. He mentioned he was no longer going to continue servicing pools, yet it still seems like he is operating. Edit: Due to Anthony feeling the need to message me after I posted the review, I thought providing proof of the conversation was necessary. Anthony's response to my review claimed he had informed me that he proactively stopped service, but this was untrue. He stated he was in an accident on my service date and was unable to continue servicing my property. Reflecting on the review David left, it seems he also told David about an accident and then ended the service. He told me he was in an accident in May and told David he was in an accident in August. Is it a coincidence? I don't know--you can be the judge. I purchased the filter at Anthony's request. The filter housing and filters cost a total of $700. Initially, Anthony told me installation would cost $200. However, when I asked him if we were going to install it, he began adding additional costs. At that point I decided to hold off. Unfortunately, the filter Anthony requested I purchase was not needed. I spent $700 on the filter housing and filters, and they are now sitting in my garage. My new pool service technician has not had any issues maintaining my pool with the original DE filter over the last 9 months. Anthony continues to send messages, insinuating something "needs to be done now". Is that a threat? You can decide. He also left a voicemail of himself laughing.

Anthony is the best!!! My husband and I bought a house with a pool and desperately needed a professional to come out since the pool had turned green in just a few days. Anthony was so knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything to us since we hadn't had a pool before. He's super reliable, honest, and great at communicating. I can't recommend him enough! He totally transformed our pool.

**CUSTOMER BEWARE**…read more I bought a house back in 2021 and Matt's service came with the pool. As far as I knew, everything seemed like it was being maintained properly, and I kept him until Jan 1st 2024. At that point, as a New Year's resolution, I decided that based on the economics (he had called me and told me most of his customers were bumped up to $150 a month back in Oct or Nov), I should just take over handling my pool since I work from home and keep a vacuum plugged in about 99% of the time. He was always very friendly about payment, and extremely affable in general. Never an issue with him *at all*. This is all pretty much still the good part. Long story short, I went and tested my pool. Mind you, he hadn't been there for about a week already and they had always put 2-3 3" tablets in a floater, every single week, all year long. Chlorine demand is a lot less in the winter, but actually testing the water would have told him he didn't need to keep adding so much. When I tested my pool, I found my CYA at 167. Chlorine was 3.4 times max (5.0ppm is max, it was 16.7) Max CYA should ever be is 100, and at that point you should drain either fully or partially and refill with fresh water. When the CYA is that high, chlorine doesn't work as well, to the point that from 30 to 40 ppm CYA, chlorine is 7.8% less effective at killing algae or bacteria. CYA is what comes as "pool conditioner" and it never evaporates or leaves the pool once added. For as high as it was, my only recourse was a full drain, pressure wash, and refill / re-balance. What's worse is that it's included with all of the "stabilized" chlorine products like the 3" tabs I'd watched him put in my pool for over 2 years. On top of it, he charged me for "conditioning" my pool as part of the monthly service, which only made it worse. And it was complete fraud because it only needs that when you do a fresh fill. CYA *NEVER LEAVES YOUR POOL EVEN WHEN THE WATER EVAPORATES*. Matt wasn't the guy who normally worked on my pool. The guy who did never used a test vial to test the pool, he'd just drop a few drops directly into the pool and "look" at it to see. He also never, ever, tested for CYA, but instead just charged me and added it. Also, you can never use tablets in a pool and not have to do that. So any pool guy who uses tablets rather than powder or liquid chlorine is literally screwing up your pool. Then there's the every 3 months charges for filter service. This should mean cracking the filter case open, cleaning it all out, putting back in the specific amount of DE specified by the manufacturer. In my case, I had been charged for it in October, but based on the condition it was likely not done for at least a couple of years, and they would charge me every time he spent 1.5 minutes doing a simple backflush. Then he'd add back DE roughly guessing with no measurements, how much he should add in. Too much DE and it bypasses the filter, making the water cloudy, and this is also why when I drained out the pool the final 1/4" inch was grey DE sludge. The process to properly clean out the filter, and replace the filter o-ring which their's no way he would have gotten the lid back on without replacing it, shows clearly I was charged and the service wasn't performed. **BUYER BEWARE** Also, after the fact, about 2 weeks after I had told him we're gonna try handling it, I ended up texting him with all the crazy stuff I found. Amazingly, the guy who always answered phone calls had not even a single answer. I won't say I completely hate the pool stores. Spare parts and basic chemicals if they price match is pretty good. Free water testing, that's pretty comprehensive and matches my own reagent test results is great. Highly recommend everyone who uses this dude go read up at https://troublefreepool.com/ and stop getting hosed by stores and contractors. I'm not sure Matt's unique in the local industry, but the fact is I can do everything they would do and more with about 5 minutes every couple of days, and maybe 10 minutes on Saturday. Every 3-6 months I might put 30 minutes effort into thoroughly cleaning my filter grids and total cost of chemicals might put me in the $6-800 a year range. With Matt I was running around $2k a year with the upcharges every few months and they did virtually none of the work I was happily paying for, thinking it was well being well maintained. He also indicated he'd been doing my pool for nearly 20 years. What a guy!
