Had a long standing appointment for today at 10:40 AM. I received a text this morning at 7:34 AM…read morereminding me of the appointment. Left the house for the appointment at around 9 AM. Received a voice mail at 9:13 telling me that they had canceled the appointment. I didn't find out that the appointment was cancelled until I was in the office and was told by the staff that my appointment was canceled because the referral from the VA has expired. I specifically remember at my initial appointment when Todd Williams mentioned that he wanted me back in 6 months to recheck the area on my back that he did a biopsy on, that I would probably need a new referral. He told me then that it wasn't necessary, that they would take care of that. What a colossal screw up and a waste of 2 hours of my time, not to mention the fuel expended on the 50 mile round trip.

I was called into an exam room even before finishing. Saw the doctor after nurse took vitals. Diagnosed issue as a pinched nerve and began treatment. They continued to check on me and adjust as needed. Everything was explained and I was given follow up instructions. All of the staff were helpful and pleasant. The entire experience was great - which meant so much more after I spent more than 2 hours at another hospital's urgent care in the afternoon and was never treated, never saw a doctor and the only medical staff I did see acted like he didn't want to be there. And, this was not because the waiting room was full. Unless 3 patients were overwhelming. This was not my first good experience here. A number of years ago my wife needed care late at night. Staff then was pleasant, efficient and took care of her. This visit I learned they also have an urgent care clinic. That's where I will go next timer it's needed!

What has happened to this place? They've ruined a great healthcare provider and a provider-patient…read morerelationship by overloading them with bureaucratic policies and practices. Now if you want to contact your doctor, you'll need a whole lot of free time. They do not answer their phones but will leave you on hold for hours with the promise that "someone will be with you shortly". The only other choice is MyChart messaging, which rarely does your doctor respond to now that Providence lets random strangers ("staff") read and reply to your messages to your doctor. Sometimes your doctor never responds himself, other times, he'll respond but it will take a week or two or more, and sometimes you have to keep sending the same message to remind him. There is no excuse for ignoring your established patients or treating them inconsiderately.

About 2 yrs ago I saw Shiva for a suspicious growth on my face. (The tag was about 5 inches from the growth). When I asked her why she circled it, she said it was in case I ever wanted to have it removed!! But, at that point she hadn't even looked at the growth! This caused me to believe she was just trying to drum up business for herself. So I reported her to the medical board. A few weeks ago I saw one of their other dermatologists and there was no sign of S. This dr was the opposite of Shiva, was respectful of my needs, knowledgeable, thorough and quick. I was very impressed with her and didn't suspect she got her Dr license out of a cereal box..like S. Even her staff was friendly and upbeat.This is a good office to go to, now.

When I asked her to dig deeper into some issues she was put out and raised her voice at me and quickly escalated the situation into asking me if I trusted her. When I said no because of the gaslighting and the aggressive behavior she told me legally she could no longer work with me. Clearly this was not her first time handling a situation like this when someone asks her to put some effort in. This was a practiced move. They take a picture of you on your first appointment, so they can refer to it later. I told her my issue was not resolved. She pulled up the picture and said it was a new issue. You can clearly see in the picture the same spots are there. She did agree at one point they were the same spots, but then doubled down it was a new issue. She held up the iPad telling me there were no spots when you can clearly see them on the picture and she had already acknowledged them. She did offer a biopsy or to have it cultured, while at the same time saying they weren't there. I'm not entirely sure how you can practice medicine that way. If you expect a dermatologist to care for their patients she's not it.

Here is a clinic that cares. Being from the Midwest, I'm not impressed with most doctors here and their biases, and this clinic impresses me. They care, they work hard, and they check up on you. Messages are always given in a timely manner, and referrals are spot on. I refuse to go anywhere else on the coast.
