Classic Wisconsin supper-club style bar/restaurant. The service here is very friendly and prompt. Love the bar, even if it's a little tight in there at times. The bartenders are very friendly and seems most everyone at the bar is drinking an Old Fashioned. I would like to see them up the ante when it comes to quality and taste of food. We've only gone for the fish fry, and they need to work on their breading/flavor, and not over sauce their coleslaw. Rye bread is great, as are the potato pancakes made with chives. If they can improve on the fish fry (though the selection is nice - haddock, blue gill, baby walleye, or shrimp fry), we'd be regulars when up north. read more

Clearview has been one of our family favorites since the 80's! An old fashioned northwoods resort bar with, of course, excellent old-fashioneds! The baby walleye is fresh and tasty, the chicken marsala is excellent and the prime rib is 'primo'! The have great french fries too! Chris is always an excellent host and Violet is fun! Meh. Poorly seasoned food, probably great for old folks on cardiac diets, I suppose... Got the walleye and wasn't impressed. The fish was fresh, but it was over breaded and bland. Shameful to do that to a walleye. The bartender mixed a lovely old fashioned though and the atmosphere was nice enough. Went with a group of five, and nobody had much to say good or bad. Everything was pretty standard, but nothing stood out. I wasn't disappointed, but I won't go back, either. Too many other options for outstanding food nearby. read more

Have been coming up to the St. Germain area for over 40 years. Have been to Clearview many times. This last time was wasn't good. When questioned the server told the three couples that we could split the bill when we went to pay. We did that but was given a hard time about it. Four of us ordered Bloody Mary's. The drinks were so thin you could see through the drink. This would be our last time. Don't need water downed drinks and cranky cashiers taking our money. Also they need to be more conspicuous with there posting of charging 4% for the use of a credit card. read more

We liked their food. But, during a pandemic no masks really sucks. They have a mask sign on the outside of their door but many people come into there without wearing masks. And, not just the visitors but also the staff. We saw the cook come out and talk to a table with no mask on. Our hostess couldn't wear her mask over her nose. It starts with them. I have been frequenting this place for many years as I often fish in the area. There is always a wait on Saturday nights but that doesn't bother me as the have plenty of bar space to enjoy a cocktail while you wait. What has bothered me was that during our last three visits, they ran out of Prime Rib! For this visit, we actually arrived ~1 hour earlier than we normally do just to be certain we would get the prime rib - WRONG! Albeit, this weekend was a very busy weekend due to a fishing tournament sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the annual Cranberry Festival in Eagle River. Knowing this one would think they would have over prepared for the added guests due to the spike in tourism. The first time this happened, the manager did offer us an alternate steak at the special price of the prime rib which was kind and welcomed; nothing was offered the other times. On a positive note, the Pork Prime Rib from the menu was a delicious alternative. read more

Typical North Woods supper club. Nice menu here of steaks with the usual fish fry on Fridays and Prime Rib on Saturdays. Friendly staff and they make a nice SoCo old fashioned sweet at the bar. We rode our sleds here for a snowy Sunday evening dinner and everyone was very happy. read more

Our last vacation night. My hubby and I decided to check out Clearview for a Fri night fish fry. We waited about 45 min, but not that bad for a Fri night. Had some old fashions at the bar - they were good. And food was delicious! Hubby had the bluegill and it was the star of the show! Tender, flaky, good breading, yummy. This is a very quaint spot on the lake but our last meal was very underwhelming. The food wasn't bad or anything just not better than average. We had a new server and she was sweet but not knowledgeable. And the bartender wasn't rude but not friendly. The practiced boredom act doesn't engender us to want to come back. read more

Wonderful again in 2015. Excellent food & service every time. Great steaks, great fish on Fridays. Nice big hot baked potato and other side choices, nice atmosphere. They don't take reservations so get there early on Fri and Sat, altho a 20 - 50 minute wait is worth it. When we left the wait was up to 1 hour! Accommodates large parties. Excellent in 2014. Great food, great people, great service. Everyone in our family enjoyed their meal and everything about it. We all had something a little different, but most of us had steaks. read more

We went to the Clearview for their fish fry. We always loved the ambience of the restaurant. Nice bartenders and waitstaff. Hadn't been there for about a year. Still great bartenders and reasonable drink prices. I ordered their basic fish fry and my husband ordered the baby walleye. We were both asked if we wanted the salad or soup for an "up charge" and we both ordered a side salad. The salad was a standard iceberg lettuce salad with your preference of dressing, (we both ordered Ranch). When we got the bill, our "up charge" for our salads were $4.99/pc. Mind you, there was no cheese or meat, just iceberg lettuce. Just be aware to ask what their "up charge" is because it's pretty steep. Added to a basic fish fry at $12.99 and the baby walleye at $15.99, no longer a reasonable fish fry. And their coleslaw was not very good. And be sure to bring cash because they will add a 3.8% charge if you pay with a credit card. I suspect, those who are surprised by this "up charge" will take it out of their waitstaff's tip. We did not since we were warned by other Yelp reviewers of the added charge if paying by credit. read more

The staff were all great: welcoming and responsive. The food left much to be desired. We ordered the ribeye and a tenderloin. Both steaks didn't have much flavor, and the ribeye was full of gristle. Wild rice was not good. The sautéed mushrooms were delicious, that's probably the only thing we would recommend. read more

The view was very pretty. When I saw that their menu was a piece of paper with a sheet protector, I knew there was something wrong. I ordered the Shrimp Fry and French fries. I could tell right away it was frozen shrimp. My mother ordered the Cod Fry and French fries. She knew that it was frozen food. Old school supper club on a lake with a northwoods feel. Decent menu selection with appetizers and dinner entrees. Large separate bar area with nice waiting area and coat room. I had the bacon wrapped water chestnuts and tenderloins with onions and mushrooms. Mine was a very good meal. Another in our party had oriental chicken stir fry which was good. BBQ ribs left something to be desired according to another in our party. Not fall off the bone as stated by the waitress. Small kids menu available too. We were expecting typical Wisconsin supper club. We got all of that and more, it has lots of old-school supper club touches with some new school twists. It was WOW. The entrées we had were both excellent: the chicken marsala with creamy and different but exactly as described, the pork ribeye was wonderful and the hashbrowns were perfect with it. We had a chocolate cobbler for dessert, any chocolate lover should order it!! It was described as a fudgy chocolate brownie like but it was a very much a cobbler. It has this gooey fudgy middle with a crunchy chocolate top, it was served with whipped cream and ice cream on the side and drizzled with chocolate sauce. CHOCOLATE HEAVEN. The service was also amazing, Violet was our waitress she made great recommendations & answered questions really well and the bartender/hostess was also excellent. We were also pleasantly surprised at the price point didn't pay much attention at the time we were ordering but our bill came in less than we were expecting after eating a great meal. It wasn't cheap but I've paid a lot more at Wisconsin supper clubs that weren't half as good in both service & food quality. We will come back next time we are in the Northwoods. read more

I love the service at this place. Everyone makes you feel like family. Kristy makes one of the best old fashioneds in Wisconsin, she's a professional behind the bar. She doesn't flirt with the customers or treat them like fools. She's kind and dryly brilliant with everyone. The waitstaff is knowledgeable and the food is outstanding. As for the setting the log cabin interior is a work of art. ..as is the mural in the men's room. If you go back a second time they welcome you home.
