2nd time visting-bartenders are super warm & inviting. I stopped by to finish some work & have a few cocktails & a snack. The snack was lacking cleanliess from a seafood POV-The martinis (2) were as requested but here was an issue w/pricing-not in POS. When I was leaving I noticed the cost for 1 (ONE) martini was $19-I had 2 and tipped $20 cuz I work in industry. I left paying $80 for overpriced cocktails, a poorly prepared appetizer & an inflated tip. The next day I noticed at the store; the entire bottle of gin selling for the same price as my 2 drinks-These were 3-4oz pours. I called to politely discuss w/manager & left a message. That's where everything went terribly wrong. I tried to ask what they charged for high end martinis-She gave me a price much less than I was charged. She then kept saying I need a ticket number or I can't talk to you any longer-I don't keep my receipts-She started yelling she needed a ticket number. Mistakes happen all the time in a restaurant-I've managed many-It's recovering with grace that truly matters-This could have been handled so many different ways. The manager was so inappropriate on the phone, defensive & rude. Its a shame as I live down the road & eat out often. First time here upon recommendation of a friend, and we were not disappointed. Had a few drinks at the bar to begin with -- I went with a key lime pie martini that ended up sweeter/stronger than I'd have liked (for some reason I had hoped for more tart than sweet), but it was still very good! Just not my fave. Went with a raspberry lemon drop next that was delectable! We came around 4:30 for an early dinner and were seated promptly. By the time we left around 6:00, the place was absolutely packed and for good reason. Service was prompt and the dining area was nicely decorated and not overcrowded. Our waitress was Melanie, and she was very friendly and knowledgeable on the menu options with some great recommendations. Appetizers were great -- stuffed mushrooms and haystack onions. For dinner, I went with the seafood stuffed salmon. The other two in our group both had the NY strip. One with mushrooms. The other with au poivre sauce. Everything was delicious and the portions were great. Finished off with a brandy Alexander and an espresso, both amazing. Loved it here and their gouda seafood pasta was probably the best dish I have had in my 10 years visiting up here. The place was busy and our server was really nice. The reason for 4 not 5 stars is that it took over 2 hours to get our food. They have to fix the kitchen or take less tables, because it was way too long to wait especially with kids. We spent just under $500 so to charge that they really need to manage timing better. Overall awesome spot with a great menu with food that is done right. read more

We had a party of 4. It took about an hour to get our main coarse. Not terrible considering how busy they were. What was not great was the noise level! It was hard to have a conversation with the person sitting across from you. For the food, I had the ribeye and it was just ok. It was not as tender as I would have liked and needed a bit more seasonings. The star was the brussel sprouts, they were fantastic! My boyfriend had prime rib, he said it was good but could have used a bit more flavor also. The appetizers were both very good, I would get them again. Our waitress was fantastic! Very impressed with this modern dinner spot in Minocqua. It's a nice change from the usual supper club (don't get me wrong I love those too) with lots of windows and a pretty patio. We started with a shrimp cocktail which was one of the best I've ever had - huge, clean, fresh shrimp. You could make a light meal out of this. The mister had prime rib which was perfectly medium rare and super tender. My fettuccine was also well executed and enough that we both had lunch from it. A nice bonus is a solid wine list and interesting craft cocktails. Prices are on the high side for the area, but it was a great meal all around. read more

We always come here and normally this place is on point. This time around it was not. The place did not answer their phone which was ridiculous. We had made a reservation a month in advance and I was calling just to verify our reservation and no answer after 10 attempts. Then when we show up for said reservation we were sat immediately Which was great. Their maple brandy old fashion was delicious. Their ribs are usually fall off the bone. This time they were over cooked and hard. The maple glaze salmon was great but for four people dinner was over $200. If I'm paying that kind of money for Dinner it better be great. Me and my wife visit Northern Wisconsin every summer, this is the 1st time we stumbled into Northfork and let me say... I couldn't be happier that we did. We went on a Saturday night, the restaurant/bar was packed. Not to worry, they have a huge outside area with ping pong, music and eats and drinks. We hung outside for a couple of hours and had some drinks until we were able to get a spot at the bar. Once we got to the bar, it did not disappoint. Hands down some of the best service I have ever received in the Northwoods and the food was out of this world. We will definitely be back in the future. I highly recommend giving this place a go if you're in the area. read more

I'm not sure why this restaurant only has 3.7 stars because it was excellent and completell packed on a Friday night. We were a party of 6 and our appetizers and entreees were delicious and the generous portions means we'll get to enjoy them again for dinner tomorrow. The appetizers we got (after much debate) were the cheese curds, duck wontons. and haystack onions. For mains most of us had pasta, lobster Mac n cheese, Tuscan tortellini with shrimp and scallops. seafood Alfredo, and one fish fry (perch). Whether it's the steaks, the seafood (scallops are top 5, ever), or the desserts, all are scratch made. DO NOT miss Northfork if you are in the north woods. Plenty of parking, clean and cool interior, great outside seating. Cute supper club bar that you can order and eat at if you didn't make a reservation which you need to do here. We ate at the bar, plenty of great drink options. I tried 2-3 old fashioneds I have never heard of and loved every one. The bartenders work very hard and are all super friendly. For the food, my halibut and fries were very good. I'm super picky on salt and it was a tad over salted. I love me some salt but just a touch too much. My friends had the shrimp & mashed Potatoes with the most amazing sauce. ( I think it was an Alfredo) we all kept sneaking into their mashed potatoes and using the bread to lap up that sauce The reason for 4 stars is the wait time for food but that is to be expected with as many people who were eating the night we were there. If we come again I'll try the Moroccan pasta. Overall great place, a bit pricy so be ready to pay 25-45 a plate plus drinks is and whatever else you want. read more

Crushing disappointment. While the service was friendly and professional, it was miserably slow. From the time we ordered to the time we got our food was over an hour. This might be reasonable if we had ordered something unusual or elaborate but it was not. I ordered the ribs and i suspect ,because of the previously mentioned delay, they came out hot but dried out like a roofing shingle. Probably from having sat under a heat lamp for an extended amount of time. My side was the parmesan potatoes. Basically they were cubed breakfast potatoes with some cheese sprinkles; Ive had better at Denny's. Generally speaking, for the experience we had, the owner/operator of Northfork should be ashamed of themselves. read more

First visit to this supper club. Had a great time socializing at the bar which is the first thing you look for in a Wisconsin supper club. Got seated in about 20 minutes. Our server was outstanding. Could work at a Michelin-level restaurant without question. We were recommended to get their steaks. One NY Strip and one Ribeye. Sorry to say they were disappointing. Both were tougher than expected, especially considering the price which would have been fine if the quality had been there. And unlike the more traditional supper clubs, there weren't any extras included like a relish tray or sides. Northfork feels like it needs to bring its game up to the level of our server. I have visited here twice during resent visits to Minocqua. The first time we could not have dinner inside because we didn't have reservations though we tried to make them. They don't have an online reservation system and you have to call and leave a message. We were told by one of the workers there that many people don't get calls back. I'm assuming that's because there's such a high demand for the reservations. It was suggested we try outside. It was set up beautifully with a large bar, seating area with a roof and outdoor entertainment. It was complete with a small area for children to play outside. I have been told that there is definitely server and cook shortages as there are elsewhere but especially challenging in Minocqua. McKenna and Kaitlyn were working the bar and also serving. They were terrific and trying to do the bus they could with a lot of guests. They definitely needed more help. But they were pleasant, efficient and worked really hard. There is only a limited menu outside. We tried a variety of appetizers but I believe the only entrée available was the pulled pork sandwich and macaroni and cheese. Unfortunately those items were cold. The pulled pork would've been OK if it was warm. The macaroni and cheese tasted like noodles with canned cheese mixed in with them. The next time we came to visit we did have reservations! When I made the reservations I mentioned it was for a friends birthday. When we arrived I also mentioned to the host that it was a friends birthday. There was a delay in seating as the restaurant was very crowded. We waited at the bar and had a round of drinks. When we sat down our server told us we should order as soon as possible because they were really behind in the kitchen. It took us nearly 2 hours to have our dinner. We all ordered steaks and they were amazing and cooked perfectly. Unfortunately they forgot about the birthday celebration and I had to ask again to have that done. What was the most challenging part was that I ordered a drink while sitting down at the table. I prefer my old fashions without any soda in them. If you order old fashions in Wisconsin you know they like to add sprite or sweet-and-sour to the drink. My preference is to not have either. I forgot to mention this to the waitress. When I mentioned I didn't want that in my drink she said I would have to pay for it because it was my fault. I'm not sure I've had that happen before. And I realize it was my mistake. I was told that if someone doesn't like their drink they still have to pay for it and order some thing else. Having worked in the restaurant industry for several years I've never heard of that before. I did go up to the bar and talked to the bartender about it and he said when I saw your order I was surprised because I remembered you don't order your drinks like that. Nonetheless our bill was confusing but it was taken care of. I would definitely recommend the outdoor space. On the night that we were there, Jimmy D was playing the guitar and he did a great job. Maybe next season they will be able to have more help both inside and outside of the restaurant. It's definitely an addition to the regular supper clubs in Minocqua. I had a New York strip and a baked potato and a bun. Thats it. Everything else is an added cost right down to 3 pieces of asparagus. My friend had the prime rib special, same thing. She got a piece of meat and a baked potato and a bun. For the price we paid, we wont go back. The food was just ok, it was loud and not much of an ambiance. The steak was not even good! As more folks showed up the bar was pack and people started coming in for regular seating. We order shrimp cocktail which was delicious. We had reservations for 6 pm. It just happened to be a Saturday night with Prime Rib as a special and a musician who started to play and sing shortly after we arrived. Our waitress was very attentive and brought me out a complimentary piece of cake with a candle in it. We both ordered the prime rib, me the 10 oz (smallest they had) and my husband the 16 oz. We both also had add ons with onion and mushrooms. The add ons were piled high! For nonalcoholic drinks I had a cucumber lemonade which was ok. I drink homemade lemonade everyday with a touch of unsweetened cherry juice. This lemonade was a touch heavy on the cucumber taste, a bit bitter like the skins. My husband ordered a blood orange and ginger drink. He really enjoyed it. Two dinner rolls were offered up. I skipped them but my husband said they were average-good. We started with an appetizer of the pear and walnut crustini. It was delicious. We took the first bite of our prime rim and yahbadabadoo it was delicious. My husband has tried a lot of prime ribs and he said this was a very good prime rib. He had a favorite prime rib in another town but that place closed down a few years ago so this will become his favorite. He said if it had the seasoned crust on it, then it would be perfect. I enjoyed mine and we both got over two meals off of our Prime Ribs. I ordered the asparagus, feta and strawberry with balsamic vinegar for my side. My husband had the parmesan garlic potatoes. This restaurant is located in an old area supper club that was a staple in the community. When planning a visit here I would recommend making reservations the earlier the better. We weren't able to get in until 8:30 so by that time, the kitchen was pretty backed up. The Minocqua area seems to be suffering from restaurant staff shortages and every place is packed. After we sat down we had to wait a little bit to make a drink order. There was a nice list of cocktails, wines, and of course beer. I got a blood orange old fashioned it was ok. It was sweet and you couldn't really taste the bourbon. When we ordered our appetizers we were informed that it would still be about 30min before any food would be coming to our table. We ordered stuffed mushrooms, cheese curds, and calamari. I thought the cheese curds had been sitting for a bit so they were not great. My favorite of the 3 was the calamari. For dinner the table ordered the fried scallops, 2 steaks a sirloin and a ribeye , and 2 orders of Coquilles St. Jacques. We didn't get our food until about 10. The steaks were both good I tasted a bite from both of them. My son didn't like the scallops. The conquilles St. Jacques is mushrooms, shrimp, and scallops in a cream sauce with mashed potatoes. The shrimp and scallops in the dish were cooked well but the salt of the dish was over powering. For this specific visit I would give a 3.5 I think if we were there earlier in the night it may have been better service. The only thing that I would order again is the calamari and the steak both the sirloin and the ribeye were cooked to order and were seasoned well. You would think that they would offer a complimentary drink or appetizer as a way of saying sorry but there was nothing. A Wisconsin Supper Club is usually a thing of beauty and a joy forever. The Northfork, here is both of those in spades. I'm not going to mince words here-Everything about this place was first-rate. The cocktails were inventive and delicious, the soups were fab, the steaks divine, and the service top-notch. The prices are a bit dear, but not in consideration of the overall quality. I don't mind paying top buck for a top feed. Someone in the kitchen has their toque on straight! Perhaps one quibble, mentioned elsewhere among the Yelps-the sequencing from the kitchen was a bit erratic. Folks were seated later than us, and got their grub sooner than we did. Grrrrr. There was also some weirdness in the seating--we asked for a window view, and were told it wasn't possible, when there were clearly a number of four-tops available upon our arrival (just after opening). Perhaps there was a reason for it, but it didn't make sense. Maybe one must specify a window view when making reservations. But don't let those minor gripes stop you from visiting. Bar service great and fun- but there were six of us and we were not called for our table we had to chk in twice. We got seated by hostess but no menus were brought. We sat for about half an hour before waitress came- she was a very good waitress, took our drink orders- and shortly after took our meal orders. We sat for an hour and twenty minutes before we got our meals. Had to ask for bread and when we would get our salads. The food was very tasty when it finally came but when we were finished it even took more time for the bill to come and be taken.all in all we were there for 3 hours! The waitress brought us some pity dinner rolls to ease our pain. When we finally asked for the eta on dinner at 9:30 b/c the kids were losing their minds, the waitress just said at least 20-30 mins. We ordered our food around 8. Ultimately half of us adults ended up leaving with the kids around 10 and without eating. I have never experienced this in my life. I understand staffing is hard, especially in a resort town on a holiday weekend, but this isn't a staffing problem, this is a management problem. It literally felt like one chef was cooking for the whole restaurant. The restaurant was packed until we left so they were clearly taking on more tables than the chefs could handle. Also, there was no disclaimer when we sat down about being backed up. Our family said they experienced the same thing last year, so this isn't just a glitch on this day. Better late then never. However we got there to have a couple bar drinks and got seated about 730. Not too shabby !! Looked at the menu. 35.00 for a bottle of red blend wine ? Fabulous. Looked it Up on line retails for 20.00. Super nice to not have a huge mark up. Waitress was great. Don't remember her name. But super friendly. Appetizer was Seafood stuffed mushroom caps. OMG so good. They take a while to make but worth the wait. Husband got ribs for dinner and I had scallops. Food was delicious. Ate too quick to take photos. Desserts were delicious and home made.
