Clearvue Vision Center Kent, WA I had my eye exam done at Clearview Eye Clinic in Kent, WA, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. The first prescription they gave me was completely wrong. my vision felt off and uncomfortable. I went back for a recheck, and they told me to "keep wearing them" because my eyes would adjust. They never did. Recently, I went to a different clinic and finally got the correct prescription. My vision is now perfect. I took the new prescription back to Clearview to have my lenses remade, thinking they would take responsibility for their mistake. Instead, I was told that because it's been about 8 months, they would not fix the lenses unless I paid full price. The manager, Mary, was extremely unprofessional and argumentative, as if I had done something wrong. I felt disrespected and dismissed. The fact that they refused to correct their own error feels dishonest and unfair. it's not just bad service, it's unethical. I could have even been in an accident because of the wrong prescription they provided. In my opinion, this clinic does not care about its patients and treats people differently based on who they are. The eye exam was pleasant, then comes the time to get glasses. I made it simple, told the lady exactly what frame and color I wanted, gave her my insurance card, and what does she do? My husband and I had appointments today which was made yesterday. When we made those appointments yesterday we gave them our insurance information. However when we checked in this afternoon, we were told that there is a co-pay of $45.00 each that we didn't get inform of yesterday. We were so upset over this matter. They could have told us this at the time we made the appointments. We feel we were deceived. We understand it was a call center who made the appointment, but it rests with the clinic to make sure the information was correct. The time was blocked off anyway they should have waived the co-pay and given us the eye exam. read more

Don't understand the pricing. Front desk also tried to force me into retinal scan which isn't sufficient exam for my pre-existing medical condition. I had to inform the staff this- so odd they don't understand exam requirements but are pushing unnecessary procedures on patients. Most I've ever paid for a basic eye exam. They ran both vision and medical insurance and I still owed $160. Doctor was kind but the exam took over 1.5 hours to complete. Won't be returning. read more

Exam Wa fine. Place has a factory style. Get people in, get them out. You can tell it's all about quantity. Nothing wrong with that, just a bit uncomfortable for me. Worst experience I've ever had getting glasses in my life and I'm not young. Bought two pairs of glasses. 3 weeks, both the wrong prescription. Second time, 3 weeks, one pair correct, one with the wrong shade of anti fluorescent coating, like sunglasses. Third try, 3 weeks, right shade if coating, but wrong prescription, wrong type of lens and prescription was only in one spot, the prescription wasn't on the entire lens. Don't think it's anyone there in the office at fault, but their lab is an incompetent piece of you know what. It was stressing me out. But I'm done now. I'll Find someone who can manage to get a pair of glasses right. I never leave reviews but this was a special kind of incompetence. People should be informed. Three times... My visit at Clearvue Vision Center was nice. I needed an urgent exam because I ran out of contact lenses and it was extremely difficult to book an appointment with PearlVision (the place I thought was one of the few that accepted my insurance). I decided to give Clearvue Vision Center a call at 8am on a Saturday morning. I asked if I could come in today and surprising they had an available 9:15am appointment. This place accepted my insurance (EyeMed) as well! The entire exam procedure was very pleasant and Dr. Moy was very nice and friendly. The technicians were also nice and polite. They had me come back in a week for a follow up to make sure my contact lenses are comfortable for me. After dilating my eyes, I was given a free "fashionable" sunglasses. They even have complimentary drinks so it's a nice touch! I highly recommend this place as everyone is professional. :) I am so glad that I did not go to PearlVision or any other places for my eye care! read more

The doctors I've seen here are all great. My issue is with the billing process and miscommunication between staff. One issue I have is with "requiring" patients to pay $50 for retinal imaging. I don't understand how you can legally require patients to pay for an exam that should be optional. Even though it doesn't say required anywhere on the form, the front desk staff told me it is. The information is not given anywhere when making an exam appointment, but then is given to you during check in. If you try to fill out paperwork online before the appointment, it does not give you the ability to decline the imaging, only to commit to paying the $50. It doesn't give the patient any ability to plan around it. I was also told my insurance doesn't cover contact fitting or the retinal imaging. I contacted my insurance after the fact and both are partially covered by my plan. My other issue was communication around contact lenses. I was told during my exam that there is not a difference in cost when it comes to monthly vs. daily contacts, so I decided to move forward with daily. When I was called by the office to order contacts, I was told the dailies would be over $600 out of pocket, vs. my monthly lenses that cost $150. I decided to just stay with monthly due to the cost difference, but then they had to okay that with the doctor and call me back, despite a current prescription for monthly lenses. I ended up ordering from 1-800 contacts because it was cheaper and easier than calling back and forth with the front desk. Overall the explanation of costs and insurance/benefits seems really sketchy and the whole process had me feeling frustrated. read more

I find it really sad that I am writing a review for a clinic that I have come to for many years and have had excellent encounters. It is also too bad that the vision providers are going to also be impacted by this negative review however, it is the front desk staff and the billing department of Clearview vision, that is getting this horrible review. Front desk staff were on their cell phones while talking to patients, they refused to get accurate and up-to-date insurance information even while I had my insurance provider on the telephone, the manager who is present in appeared to be watching the entire encounter chose not to intervene, and as a result as a patient, I did not get anything that I really needed and now I will leave the clinic as a patient along with my family members. This place when I went about two years ago was great. I might've even given it 5 stars. Now, it's operating with sales tactics and service akin to a used car dealership. Like some other reviews I see, I feel I was price gouged into a test I didn't need, and charged way higher rates simply to renew a prescription, versus just the exam my insurance would pay for. As someone who is jobless currently, every dollar counts. At the end of my appointment (which itself was fine), I was "walked" to the glasses area and I had to deal with a salesperson who did not understand I was not there to buy glasses or contacts. I was then brought to the counter and told I'd have to have my prescriptions emailed as there was some printer issue. I did not see any emails that day, and then sent an email asking for it. I received a reply "Your address has been updated." What? That had nothing to do with my email. So I emailed again. I didn't get a reply so had to email a second (or now, third time). I then got the email and this time I had to sign up for some encrypted email service that took 5 minutes to set up. In total, It took 25 hours to get the information I asked for, which is a violation of chapters 18.53, 18.57, or 18.71 RCW which states they are to provide prescriptions at the end of the appointment. read more

My appointment for a basic eye exam and contact lens exam/Rx renewal with Dr. Chan started off on a sour note when they charged my credit card $49 for a required retinal scan before I even sat down in the lobby. From there I was lead to a room where all manner of exam routines were performed.......the results of which I was never told. I was then asked to sign a form authorizing them to charge my CC an additional $130 to $350 dollars for the contact lens exam. This turned out to be a $150 charge which is about right. However I find it odd that over the next 30 minutes of the exam I was never asked to insert my contacts. I'm not sure how you check for fit and function with my contacts in my pocket. Upon arriving at my home later I realized that they had totally screwed up the Rx I was given and had to call them back and talk them through what I really needed. Now I'm finding out that even after I paid $200 out of pocket for the contact lens exam and the mysterious "required" retinal scan, they still billed United Health Care $250 for the basic eye exam. This will be my first and last visit to Clearvue Vision Center In Kent. WA. read more

Edit: I have now talked to the office manger who was awesome, she said the opinion about a defect was wrong. However the second optical manager still thinks basically too bad if its a defect. i have been told they will not cover my new lenses if the anti glare fails. I will not be back since they will not stand by the quality of product. they also failed by sending unacceptable product out the door that should have been refused from the lab. The worst experience with this eye center. Brian the manager is optical is absolutely unprofessional and has no care for the quality of products that go out the door. The quality of the service as well as the lenses that they sell are awful. No integrity for customer service or quality of their product. I was told a defect in my anti reflective coating is basically my responsibility to use my warranty, even though it had been 4-6 weeks and they were already having issues, then it was replaced months later when I finally decided to use my warranty and the same thing was happening in ONE day, that's not an issue with proper care from the customer, that's POOR quality control walking out the door! To blame a customer for something that they had nothing to do with is absolutely unprofessional. I even had issues that went on for MONTHS with my original prescription. Also I was told to call and ask to place the order for my contacts and haven't been able to either. I was initially seen at this clinic in October 2017. I was pleased with their service, but a little annoyed that my insurance (Superior Vision) covered my exams but not my glasses, contact lens, etc. So I got my exams, and went to Costco to get my contacts, which worked out better because there was a rebate being offered at Costco for my contacts. Fast forward a couple of months, my co-worker needed an exam and glasses because her son accidentally broke her glasses. She called and made an appointment - two weeks out. The clinic calls the day before her appointment to confirm, but lets her know that they are no longer contracted with Superior Vision, but are currently in negotiations. There went two weeks of her time. I get a call some months later to schedule an appointment. I tell them that they no longer accept my insurance; end of call. Again, I get another call some weeks later to schedule an appointment. I have to tell them again, "YOU NO LONGER ACCEPT MY INSURANCE." Fast forward to November 2018 where I again get a call, and I sternly ask them to STOP CALLING me because they no longer take my insurance. Not 10 minutes later someone from the clinic calls me back to let me know that Dr. Allison Moy is indeed contracted with Superior Vision. (I mistakenly didn't get her name.) So I set up an appointment for December 1st at 9:00 AM. I have to bring along my two small children (ages 5 and 6) on a Saturday morning. I get there and the receptionist seems to be having trouble locating my appointment. She says, "did you know that we no longer accept your insurance?" Whereby I respond, "you guys need to get it together?!?!?!" I explain to her exactly what's happened, and she tells me that she is going to contact Superior Vision. She asks me to fill out the "existing patient" paperwork in the event that my insurance is accepted. She goes into a back room, and returns 5-10 minutes later to let me know that they are NOT CONTRACTED with Superior Vision, and offers me an apology with a Starbucks card. Really, a Starbucks card for waking up my two small children on a Saturday morning, and WASTING MY TIME?!?! I declined the Starbucks card, and left the clinic. What a joke!! I would give them zero stars if I could. What a waste of my time and energy! read more

Took my rambunctious 7 year old daughter in for her first exam and it was a magical experience for her. The doctors assistant Kimberly was amazing and did such a great job and was caring and attentive to listening (even while my daughter rambled on about nonsense) and she didn't just ask me questions but asked my daughter questions also in a way that she could understand and feel included. Dr Heitmeyer was great as well. He was very thorough in his exam and in my opinion, gave us the greatest exam in every detail and he was extremely kind, courteous and friendly. To be honest, I was never happy or satisfied with America's Best but I kept going to them because I'm a creature of habit and also I was too lazy to find a new place. Got my eye exam & contact lense fitting here and it was definitely a great experience! Dr. Moy is very nice and knowledgeable. She gave me different options of contact lenses & made sure it was what I wanted. Staff are all friendly and very acommodating. There's a wide range selections of frames from raybans, gucci, prada, oakley, etc. They also provide coffee & snacks bar by the waiting area which is very spacious & clean. I brought my own frame that I got somewhere else & just needed to replace the lenses (with my updated prescription) but I still paid alot. I was asked if I wanted a thinner lense or anti-glare & I said yes. Insurance paid a good amount but I still ended up paying an amount I wasn't expecting (I got the same thing previously at a different place & paid less for both the frame & lenses) Not sure if they just charge more, or.. but still a great experience regardless! read more

My daughter and I are both patients at Clearvue. I highly recommend them because the staff is friendly and hospitable. The doctors are efficient and spot on. The clinic is clean and welcoming. They have refreshments and a basket of stuff to keep your child entertained in the wait room. My 7 year old was complaining about her vision at school. I took her to see Dr. Moy, who did an excellent job of making my nervous daughter feel comfortable and she also communicated well with her. They also have a treasure chest for the kids to pick a prize from :) After the exam my daughter said 'mommy, that was fun!' I have referred friends and their kids here as well and they had great experiences as well. I ordered an annual supply of contact lenses Monday, and they arrived today, Wednesday! I'm not promising this is the normal time to receive orders, but I am impressed. read more

About 2 years ago i received great service from a female optometrist and from the whole staff here which is why i recommended them to my wife a month ago. However, it appears they recently had new doctors as the service she received was very sub par, rushed, and frustrating. Her male optometrist was very inattentive and had to completely redo the eye exam as the glasses she initially received had a very bad prescription. After 2 more weeks, new glasses arrived that were still not ideal as the lenses caused slight blurriness but my wife just dealt with it as she did not want to deal with the hassle of returning them again. To add further, the fit of the frame on her nose bridge was perfect when she initially tried them on from the display but then they started messing with it making them too tight then too loose. Now the last straw is with contact lenses that finally arrived after nearly 4 weeks (even though they invoice immediately). And of course, the prescription wasn't right. After $600 spent (not including what insurance paid), I now feel very guilty for having recommended them (especially to my spouse) and encourage everyone to consider other alternative providers. Update: The office reached out to apologize and provided complimentary contact lenses, which is nice and all, but it still doesn't excuse the initial experience. So I was way overdue for my eye exam despite the post card reminders these guys have sent me. Then out of the blue I got a text message reminder and thought I would be silly and reply with a funny response. These things are automated and no one ever replies, except a real person responded and I scheduled and eye exam by text! Wow that was a first! I guess you can text them during office hours instead of calling and they can respond back. The appointment was painless, with friendly front desk people who greeted me with smiles and treats from their amazing snack bar. I was taken back on time and had the cool photos of my eyes which didn't require those drops that make your eyes blurry and light sensitive. The doc was super friendly and got me some new one day contacts that I absolutely love. Allergy season has been brutal this spring and these lenses have been awesome. Out to the glasses area I went next and a friendly lady helped me pick out a new pair of Tom Ford sunglasses and a cool new pair of IC Berlin German frames that are light as a feather. I just picked both pairs up today and am super happy with my choices. I definitely wouldn't trust my eyes to anywhere else. This place is top notch and I would recommend it to anyone! read more

Decided to get my eye exam here based on all the good reviews on Yelp, and the fact they take my insurance plan. The exam went well, and staff were helpful, friendly, and communicated well, and I expect to come back again next time I need an eye exam. The Optician was patient and took the time to get my prescription right, which I definitely appreciate and which is not a guarantee with some shops, unfortunately. For the glasses and the retail shop, it pays to shop around - I was quoted a high price for lens replacement for my Oakley sport glasses, so I declined to have them done here. I got my lenses replaced for nearly half the cost at a shop in downtown Seattle, and I can only speculate as to why. I would have paid almost double out of pocket even when using my insurance at Clearvue - the shop downtown doesn't take my insurance plan and I paid almost half the cost. This doesn't make sense, but then again we're talking about the insurance industry here! read more

For eye exams and prescriptions, I think they're great. Dr. Chan and Jeanette are excellent. However, the glasses center has obscene prices. To replace the lenses in my current frames, they quoted me $290 after insurance. At Costco, it was $20 after insurance. I don't see how anyone could defend that drastic a markup. So since I'll be going to Costco for new glasses when I need them anyway, I figure I might as well get my exams there in the future as well, less driving around. read more

A long, long, time ago when I was a baby dinosaur watching a Sonics game on television with my grandfather, it was determined that I couldn't make out the number on Jack Sikma's jersey without placing my eyes two feet from the screen - there you have it, I've been going to the eye doctor since about 1977!!!! I have seen many eye docs over the past years - for lazy eye, refraction, for LASIK, for dry eye, for conjunctivitis, for old lady glasses when the LASIK started to slip (10 years out - I still recommend LASIK!), you name it, I've been to the eye doc for it. Notable is Dr. Heitmeyer's attention to detail, patient-side manner, and sincerity. He shares his observations and assessments with you - doesn't just write them down, he involves you in your treatment choices, he takes the time to walk you through the options and ensures you understand what is required and what to expect as an outcome. He recently treated me for severe dry eye and walked me through what to expect with my rx treatment and how to get the best results. Dr. Heitmeyer and his staff are so great! i got glasses 9 mos ago and after 2 hrs my vision becomes very blurry. they re-examined my eyes and found they left out my astigmatism correction. they remade my lenses and i still have the same problem. tried eye drops but made no difference. also, my glasses don't stay up and i have to move my head to find the mid range for stairs and the stems pinch above my ears and hurt. been in many times to adjust them, but it never works. i then visited condescending Evan. in a very sarcastic manner he listed off all the thing that i claimed were wrong with the glasses!!! he then told me that i had used up all my do overs. well evan, what am i supposed to do now??? i need lenses i can see with and frames that fit and don't hurt. i've paid $1000 and i need to see why you were "voted best in renton several years ago. i have an appt with a md who specializes eye problems to see why i have so many vision issues. i want a refund and you can have my frames and lenses. i need to see to read and drive.
