At the time I was living nearby, and never really had a dedicated optometrist, so I checked the reviews and thought- let's SEE what it's all about. Went in for an eye exam, and it was an extremely smooth process. The doc was extremely knowledgeable and even explained certain things about my eyes that no one has ever taken the time to do before. Other experiences I've had were all about getting you in and out as fast as they could, but not here. He took his time to explain what he was doing and why. I like that in a Doc. When I went to pick out my frames, my better half was not with me, and I typically always ask for her approval on something I liked. So, I went off the recommendation of the employee helping me (didn't grab his name). I tried several pairs on, and he said there was one that popped. Which was good because I liked it, but wasn't too sure. He said it was a a perfect fit and style for my noggin... so I went with it. Of course got all the upgrades, and let me tell you... I can't count on my toes and fingers, and yours too on how many compliments I got on these Holbrook Oakleys!! People loved it, my wife loved it, more importantly... I loved them! Overall, for my first experience with this place, it was a pleasant surprise and I found myself not dreading an eye exam and hunting for something I never am really satisfied with- until now. I've been here twice now and always had to wait 20 minutes past my appointment. Second appointment I waited 30 min past my scheduled appointment to be led into an exam room. I've never gone to an optometrist where I've had to wait so long just to been seen. Especially having a newborn and a toddler at home, precious time can't be wasted. I also have to go in a 3rd time as the optometrist can't figure out the correct contact lens prescription for me. I was told to try on a prescription which immediately I knew was wrong for me as my left eye was blurry. I was told to let my body get accustomed to it and wait a week. Guess what? After a week it was still blurry. So today I got a new prescription and they gave me another set of contacts to try for another week and then requiring me to come back to check they are the correct ones for me. I've never had to go back to an optometrist twice, even thrice, just to confirm a contact lens prescription. And I'm a contacts wearer for 21 years now. I've also now thrown away 2 hours of my life, 3 hours now just because I needed to renew my contact lens prescription. I selected this establishment because of the Yelp reviews. Very disappointed. I will not be back since they cannot figure out your prescription and because they cannot keep their promised scheduled appointment. read more

Not impressed with the service. They made me wait a long time in an exam room. So long the light turned off before anyone came in. They apologized but still I left work early to get to my appointment and it was rushed when they finally came in. Also, my appointment was at 3:45 and they were very adamant that I arrived on time or I would have to reschedule. I was a few minutes away and on time and o get a call saying my appointment was at 3:30 and if I didn't get there in 5 minutes I would have to reschedule. When I got there I showed them my appointment text reminder and it said it was at 3:45. No acknowledgment of the call when I arrived and let them know. The undue pressure of being late was stressful. Before my appointment I asked to check if I was a candidate for contacts, thinking it would be apart of my appointment. I asked about it and they made me set up a different appointment. When I came in all they did was show me how to put in the contacts even though I had warn them years ago. Then they did some eye tests and sent me on my way. That contact appointment cost $150 out of pocket. Did get billed to my insurance. I knew this in advance but I was under the impression I would get more of an eye exam, testing of my eye size, etc. not just someone watching me put in snd out contact lenses. Didn't feel valued and they seem very expensive for the service provided. read more

I have only been to this clinic once and it was a good experience, however this year has been different with setting up my appointment. The most frustrating thing about this clinic is they like to text instead of picking up a phone and calling. It is extremely unprofessional, it is one thing to send a text about an appointment reminder, or confirmation but don't communicate about insurance related issues. I have been going here for several years, but my recent visit was terrible. I wasn't seen until 15 minutes past my appointment time, then spent a few minutes with a technician, then escorted back to the waiting area, and finally sent to an exam room 35 minutes past my appointment time. Having needed to switch eye doctors due to insurance changes, some would say it's a straightforward process, although for me it isn't so straight and narrow. Having retinopathy of prematurity makes a switch rather difficult as there isn't a whole lot of specialists that specialize in this area in my state. Going in for an initial appointment to get my feet wet as it were, was met with staff that were willing to help and make the transition from one vision care clinic to another as pain free as possible. Looking at their glasses that they offer and the packages that they have, one is felt that they have an assortment of options to choose from. Overall a great eye clinic and one that I even have the rest of my family now going to. Time will tell if it continues to be a place of positivity, of which I will update this review going forward with any notable changes or alterations if necessary. Called to make an appointment for an eye prescription. The receptionist was very rude and said I had an attitude with her. She did not have patience with me as I did not have all my medical card information in front of me. I gave her all the information clearly and slowly and she didn't understand half of the information and asp wanted my social security number cover the phone. I would not give her that, she stated I had an attitude and I stated she had one also. She then hung up on me. As a receptionist you are the face of that company and you need to change how you speak to people. Eh. Here goes a long review. My daughter had an appointment for an eye exam and needed a new pair of glasses because hers broke. They got us in quickly (that's why the 2 stars) even though most places at the time were only seeing "urgent eye needs" appointments. When I joined her (due to Covid I waited in my car during the exam) to choose her glasses, a gentleman helped us. Someone else had done her exam, as with most places. The gentleman went over my insurance benefits and all that Jazz. He went over the "blue light filter" that gets added on the lenses to protect eyes from electronics/glare. I told him we'd like that and anti glare coating. He stated the blue light filter had the anti glare in it. Perfect! She chooses her frames and we place our order. Weeks later no call for updates. I call and check on the status of her glasses. I get a call back that they're there. We schedule a fitting appointment and go in. I again wait in the car. I told my daughter to obtain a few breakdown from the office. Which she did and brought that to me once she had her glasses fitted. I mentioned to her that I didn't see a difference to her old lenses for the "blue light filter". We disregard it because we paid for it ($112), so it must be on there. A month later I take my other daughter for her routine exam and new glasses at a different facility (our normal spot.. we only went w advanced due to no appointments because of Covid). Here they show us the blue light filter and uh yeah, there's a difference. Soooo I call advanced and inquire about my daughters glasses and that I didn't think they had the blue light filter coating. The gal says "no it's not on there because you didn't pay for it" I asked her if the $112 was for anti glare alone (even though I knew it wasn't... with my insurance anti glare is only $45). She says "yes that's just anti glare but we will add the blue light filter for the same price and remake her lenses. We'll let you know when they're ready to be swapped." When I went in to swap them out, sure enough the gentleman who helped us out originally says that indeed I paid for it and they made a mistake "keying it in". The gal just couldn't accept their mistake and tried to tell me it was my issue for not paying. Would not recommend this place. Unless it's an emergency and no one else will take you in. read more

The customer service and professionalism of the entire staff was excellent. The moment I stepped in with my son, we were greeted with a smile and kindness. They really make you feel relaxed and explain every step. This was my 7 year old's 1st eye exam. The optometrist was very friendly and personable. He took his time to make sure my son was comfortable with the exam and understood what was going on. The optician who helped me choose and order my glasses made me feel confident that the pair and options I chose were right for me. I would recommend this place to all my friends. After looking online at some of the frames they offered I went in and talked to Roger who showed me many different options for my new eyewear. After trying on many choices I decided on one and Roger made the process of ordering them quite painless. He took care of getting my insurance discounts and all the options I needed. Had to have a contact that tore in half removed from my right eye. Got charged for the removal and used insurance and paid my portion with my credit card. 9 months later, I got another bill for an Examination Level III - New Patient. I was experiencing pain and redness in one eye. I went to a different Eye Dr in Maple Valley, prior to visiting Dr Hollenbeck, who did not follow COVID precautions. I called Advanced Eye Care and was able to get an appolntment in only a few hours. When I arrived I noticed that all patients and all staff were following mask protocols and distancing protocols. When I was seen by the Technician (I am sorry I forgot her name) she was very personable as well as professional, and explained everything we were going to do prior to doing it, always asking if I had any questions along the way. She then proceeded to disenfect every piece of equipment I was to use, in front of me, she left zero doubt how seriously they take safety precautions, this put my mind at ease. The rest of my experieince was with Dr Hollenbeck, who washed his hands in front of me prior to my exam. He diagnosed the scratched cornea quickly and gave me a Rx for eye drops. I followed up one week later and while it was healing he wanted to see faster improvement. He then gave me a second Rx to expedite healing time. Both drops worked very well and upon my second follow up the scratch had healed completely without problem. At this time both I and my wife made Dr Hollenbeck our permanent Optometrist. I went back for a routine visit, received a new Rx for lenses and am seeing so much better now. My wife's experieince was also excellent. Every single person in this office, from the front desk to the Techs to the Dr to those who assist you in obtaining new frames/glasses, is a consummate professional and provides excellent client-centered care. I have worked in the health care field for over 25 years and I can say that rarely does one find an office as outstanding as Advanced Eye Care of Covington. read more

The doctor takes the time to explain and demonstrate the issues related to your eye care and readily references options in an easy-to-understand manner. My family and I have all been going to see Dr Hollenbeck for our vision care, for quite a few years. We have always been very happy with this office and Dr Hollenbeck. The way this office is run has greatly changed over the past year. I am no longer able to even get anyone to answer the phone there now. They have an answering service, and when I do get someone at the answering service to take a message, office staff NEVER return calls. I have now been trying to call them for 5 months to schedule a follow up appointment. I have given up on them, and am looking for another eye doctor. Do not bother calling them! read more

Had an exam on 4/1, afterwards met with one of the Opticians and we picked out some frames and settled on a pair. Next he went over the lens options and from there my order was placed. Got a text about a week later that me glasses were ready to be picked up. Went in and tried them on and couldn't see a thing. The optician told me to take them home and give them a couple of weeks.... Never heard this before, I've been wearing glasses for nearly 30 years.... But I took them and gave them a try for a week; I felt that was a little more reasonable... during this week I put them on and thought I was on some kind of drug trip... couldn't see a thing. Called and explained to the person who answered my call and they told me to bring them in. Went in a day later and the gal that helped was perplexed... couldn't understand why I couldn't see. She took them to the back and "tested" them, and after a few of these trips to the back she said they put the bifocal part in the wrong place. Fine... she sent them back to the lab to have them correct this. About a week later they texted me again, I went in and same thing.... Still couldn't see a thing... again, she seemed very perplexed almost to the point I felt like she didn't believe me. I pulled out my current glasses that I've been using for the last 5+ years and said listen I put mine on and I can see all the things you are asking me to try and see; I put yours on and I can't see... why that was so hard to understand is beyond me. I was told I needed to come back for a re-exam. Fine. About a week later I come back in for my re-exam; never have I had to do a re-exam in all these years, but ok, here we go. Saw a different Optometrist and it was learned that the prescription they used was wrong.... Ya, that was clearly obvious to me the first time I came in and couldn't see a thing. Placed a new order with the same options with one exception. A week goes by and I get the text to come in. Viola I can see! I thought ok, even after all of the back and forth, I'm happy to have my glasses.... Oh but wait! There's more... I take them home and the next day I put them on outside and wanted to see how the transition worked, this is the first time for me getting that option.... But hold on.... Nothing! You guessed it, they didn't add that even though it was on my original order and I was clear about telling the gal the last time I was in I wanted all of the same lens options with the exception of the lens type..... Seriously now I'm highly annoyed... how can this be? I called and explained the situation and the optician apologized and said he would re-order the lens and call me when they are in to swap out... but seriously at this point this has gone on long enough. After all is said and done, almost 2 full months, 5 trips in to get my new glasses. Can't say I'll be back after this experience. Btw.... So it started when I lost my contact midday on a Saturday. I'm from out of town, I did not have my regular glasses with me and I thought that I would be a will to survive on my trip with my last pair of contacts... Until I lost one. I made many phone calls to everyone I could find on yelp and many more that I found on Google maps. I called Advanced Eyecare and Was greeted by a compassionate person who took my problem and made it their goal to find me a solution. The staff and doctors went above and beyond on a Saturday to make sure that I got a contact lens. While every other company I called was happy to go home and didn't care , the staff here stayed a little later just to make sure that I could get there to pickup a contact and see again! Unfortunately I will only be in Washington for a few more weeks. If I am ever up here again, I would go out of my way to do business with these people. The doctor intuitively figured out I was able to focus through many adjacent lens options throughout the exam. Once he realized what was going on, his instruction for me to relax and just go with my initial reaction resulted in a more accurate and true prescription. The office staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about the frames and lenses they offer. The frame selection is only a little smaller compared to some places I've been to, but I'm sure you'll find something that works for you. This is probably the best eye care clinic I have ever been to. It is very neat and organized in the lobby/eyewear area. The ladies behind the reception desk were very nice, very patient when I called and asked for directions. The doc was very nice and thorough as well. He explained each step of the eye exam and even showed me what the back of my eye looked like. April was great at helping me choose my glasses. She picjed out some great frames for me to try on. My eyecare needs are complex, and Dr. Hollenbeck always takes the time to go over the results of my testing. The eyewear staff even remembered that I had guppies! The frames are really expensive but I get them there because of the superior service and genuine caring. read more

My 2nd visit I was not able to see Dr. Hollenbeck which left my appointment with Dr. Kaur. She was pleasant, however I had been told and the previous digital photographs of my right eye had indicated a small hole in my retina. This was found by my eye doctor of 20+ years in So-Cal and confirmed my first visit to Dr. Hollenbeck. Dr. Kaur said my left eye looked fine and there was no hole in my retina. I told her it was my right eye and she said I did not have a hole in my retina. Huh. I was very happy with the improvements to their frame selections. Jackie in the office is Awesome! I was hoping to get my new glasses before a trip, but was not able to. That was a bit of a disappointment. I appreciate the quality control but they didn't come in for almost 4 weeks. read more

Everyone is super friendly and cheerful! Their equipment is up to date with technology. I haven't purchased any glasses (as I only wear contacts) but they have a nice selection to choose from. As for contact selections, the doctor makes sure to send me home with trial pairs to ensure they fit correctly and comfortably before ordering. read more
