It is a CCRC (Continuing Care Retirement Community…read more We are in Independent Living but as most here, we decided to move to a CCRC knowing we will someday need nursing care. Attached to Independent Living is the Care Center which has 3 venues ...Skilled Nursing ( provides long term skilled care and/or temporary care as needed). Assisted Living allows residents to live independently yet taken care of in minimal ways such as dispensing of medications. Memory Care is self explanatory. All 3 venues take residents as well as private pay. Our monthly dues include these areas when needed yet, there are extra charges for incidentals. The Lodge (apartments) and casitas have access to weekly housekeeping, pools, spa, great food and all the activities you could want. There is an 18 hole championship putting course. In addition there is a resident driven couples golf, a Men's golf as well as Ladies. These groups typically play at Starfire Golf Course. We have a resident driven monthly newsletter as well as a community website and a Neighbor to Neighbor email communication. If a person wants to enjoy the amenities here they should come in while they are active. Of course, if a person is ill and does not pass the medical, they have waited too long for this transition. We have friends of all ages...60's through 100 years. The socialization in this community is key and most of us feel like family. It is expensive to get in here...entrance fees are tremendous. Our monthly dues have increased from about $4500 (for 2) to almost $7,000. There is definitely an emotional adjustment. For most, the Community makes up for any losses you might feel. Management takes care of us and most of them are almost overly attentive to our needs and requests. During this pandemic residents are delivered meals three times a day with a wine menu and virtual activities are ongoing. A staff member is required to be kind and respectful, but there is always one. Negative prevails and this particular staff person affects all of us and the overall morale of our community. We will stay on top of this here and even suggest some sympathy training, otherwise this would be 5* rating

DO NOT LET YOUR FAMILY COME HERE. I had to ask my manager to not send me here to work because it is so awful. I thought it was going to be a great facility because it is so nice, and the residents pay a fortune for their care and stay, but behind the scene once the residents are asleep the nursing staff could CARE LESS. ESPECIALLY THE charge nurses, LPNs and RNs. Once you turn your back, they are in the break room eating, "passing meds," and "charting". The nurses are all over weight and terrible patient care. (Because they don't do any patient care). I belive they push it onto the CNAs but I saw one crying in the corner the other night because everyone quit and she was the only one taking care of the entire unit and the nurses kept yelling at her ALL SHIFT. About how they "couldn't find her" (meanwhile she's in the rooms changing the patients and doing patient care). That poor cna ended up quitting as well and can't work because she threw her back out that night. AGAIN, seriously no compassion in this place. Please save yourself the heart ache and stay away from here. Bad people work here and run this place.

Though my parent enjoys it at the Manor, I've been concerned about continuous increases in the rent and fees, especially the latest increase of just shy of 15%! This latest increase seems to have pushed residents "over the edge," with several now moving out to nicer and cheaper alternatives. The Manor seems to have also lost several good and caring employees that we really liked. I'm starting to get concerned about the trends I've been witnessing. I hope these trends don't continue.

We were looking for a facility where more eyes would be on her and she could get Care if she needed it. We toured many independent/assisted living facilities in the Scottsdale and Phoenix area. When we walked in the door at Manor Village, we knew we had found Moms new home. We were greeted by Wesley Wilkins who provided us with a tour and as we moved throughout the building, Wesley knew all the residents that we came in contact with as well as employees. You could tell he really enjoys his job and every employee we talk with had a smile on their face. The entire building had a wonderful vibe and the residence we interacted with were so welcoming and friendly. We feel confident that if any emergency or care is needed, Mom is in the right place. It is now been a couple of months since she moved in and we could not be any happier. It has been such a positive experience and I would highly recommend Manor Village if you're looking for a facility that will treat your loved one like family. We want to give a special shout out to the following employees who have made my mom's move such a success. Wesley, Lisa, JoAnna, Medhia, & Abria.

Don't mind the past horrible reviews, probably made from other retirement communities wanting more…read morebusiness. Maryvilla is one of the few places that actually have 24/7 nurses that makes sure the loved one gets the best possible care - Been going for about a year. There's two dining rooms with gourmet food, great 24/7 security - and there's 24/7 activities that happen there. There is few pianos to play on, a small arcade area, a library. There's a huge living room where residents watch movies and the view from the balcony areas is great during July 4th fireworks in the area. No complaints here, you may see protected wild life like Javelins in the area but thats typical in Scottsdale. This area is also next to Fairmont Princess Hotel so out of state loved ones can visit and stay at walking distance. So this place may be more expensive than most places that just let the residents sit around - I seen interaction with residents with the caring nurses that's been there for many years. A++ place, would highly recommend.

Plus, you will pay VERY high monthly dues on top of the buy-in fee. From day one, we were dissatisfied with Maravilla. From the dishonest salesperson misrepresenting the unit we were "sold", to management wringing every dollar they could out of us when we decided to leave for better accommodations, we often felt like we were being taken advantage of or mistreated. I can only assume that many of the people on staff at Maravilla have no aging loved ones, because if they did, they would behave with more compassion and humanity than we ever saw from them. My advice...Keep shopping and you'll find something better. It might not be as pretty as Maravilla, but the people will probably care about your loved ones more.

Clearwater looks pretty but was a horrendous experience for my Mom and me. They pitch a good game…read more We moved my mom in early 2023. She moved in to a beautiful apartment with assisted living services. The food started out reasonable and went downhill by the third month. I don't know what happened. The care givers were marginal at best. But most importantly, they do tell you in the contract that if they deem your loved one needs to be moved to the LOCK DOWN memory care facility with tiny bedroom and bath only, they have the right to make that decision. You assume when you sign that that they only do that when the resident has dementia and exhibits dangerous behaviors like wandering out doors, or not being able to verbalize their needs anymore or is aggressive. None of those descriptions fits my mom. What they don't tell you is that after paying a $15,000 move in fee for a beautiful apartment, they will move your loved one, who does not have dementia, to the lock down memory care unit for falling and going to the hospital. So be very careful in considering this place. No place I talked to, which was close to 15, said it is appropriate to lock someone in a memory care unit when they don't have dementia. I would recommend Manor Village. It was one of the places we considered after leaving Clearwater after only being there three months. They are family owned, have a passionate chef who meets every week with the residents and way lower move in fees. Take a careful look at the ownership of Clearwater. Our invoices were from Berkshire not Clearwater. I learned a lot in this experience. Be very careful. Private equity is getting in to senior care and it's becoming all about profits. Know the ownership.

Then we almost lost him due to a medical emergency. That said, Edward and his fantastic team of aids at Serenity stepped up in a big way working with Hospice of the Valley. The staff is small and so is the facility but the rooms are beautiful with private bathrooms and no bedsores on anyone. They cook homemade meals in a large kitchen where they also interact with the residents. Rachel, Avia and Angel are wonderful with the residents, checking on them, engaging with them in a kind way and laughing. If you like a smaller facility with quality care (maximum 10 residents) then this is it. Our father is now off of end of life hospice and onto regular hospice and it speaks to the care and tlc they give. This facility doesn't have the bells and whistles of the bigger ones but it has cleanliness, caring and interaction. The beds are always made, the residents are always clean and it has a sense of family. The views out of the windows are beautiful and there's a lovely terrace with dining and a putting green when the weather is cooler. I've seen a lot of nursing homes, assisted living facilities and community care homes and this is one of the best.
