WOW! Just WOW!!!! So my in-laws home have gigantic trees every since they moved in, years and years ago! Wasn't really a problem until my MIL started developing horrendous allergies to the pollen it was creating in the yard. Deciding enough was enough....my husband called Cleary Bros (under an excellent) recommendation, and Hudson Puente hooked us up. BIG TIME. He assessed the yard and gave us a great rate. The crews that Hudson sent on the project were incredible! On time, polite, professional, efficient, and did I mention...EFFICIENT?!?!?! And the yard looks AMAZING. Cleary Brothers has been doing the front yards in CA Chateau/Danville Ranch for many years. Recently their work has been very poor...no hedge trimming, weed pulling or sprinkler inspections. They are very slow to respond to homeowner needs, their office does not listen and is not interested in helping out. I do not recommend this company, poor work by their crews and high turnover of their project managers is never a good sign. read more

These landscapers never listen to you, or do any follow ups , especially on the trees on the property that needs trimming (all sorts of rodents live in trees) , they don't understand that our community is hoa so we pay them & can replace them & stop parking in front of my garage & leaving you idiots.. read more

LOL, again with this company!!!! So my friend lives next to a large development that has a Home Owners Association. Cleary Brothers comes out and does their landscaping for the development park areas. We are watching out of her window as the landscaping crew starts trimming a large tree. They pack up and leave. Fast forward to now, many months later, we are having coffee and I notice that the old dead branches are still out on the open area. I start laughing (cuz of my experience) and she tells me the story: The owner of the house on the other side wants a tree trimmed that is not on his property and he doesn't own. It is on the Association's property. He pays this crew working on the property, employed by the Association cash to trim the tree and "fix" his view. They trim the tree and because they are in a small truck (guessing) they leave all of the branches on the ground. He later sees the older guy with grey hair working in the development and asks him to remove the branches that he cut off off the tree. The worker is all dodgy and uncomfortable and denies he ever did any tree trimming. Home owner gets mad because he paid this guy cash. Turns out that they were in front of the Association Chairman's house ..... ooops. Busted Nice. These guys have workers that do unauthorized work on an accounts property and pocket the third party cash. Maybe since the owner has tried to contact me on this and says that he had no idea who my husband and I were .....maybe these workers are doing side work with the company equipment. Either way if you see their trucks pull up .... hang out and protect your property. You may end up with removed parts from your tree and added firewood on your grounds. read more

these guys are doing landscape remodel at our complex. They continue to show up before allowed. I have asked them 3 times not to start before 8am since we have noise ordinance. They continue to ignore saying they have contract they can start if quiet. Well they have woken me 3 times and to top it off the employees are RUDE and SLOW. They have no respect for the plants, throwing them around. They broke one of my hanging plants and tried to put it back like I wouldn't notice. Seem to stand around leaning on shovels a lot. I could have finished in the amt of time its takes these "experts". Run from this company. BTW they fled when I said I'd call the cops. I have spoken with Karine who continues to argue that they are allowed to be here before 8 as long as they don't make noise. They passed out notices saying work would not start until 8 yet Karine argues they are legit. Obviously the notice was to cover their butt, but they lied. "Contractors will not begin until 8 A M. and end no later than 5 P.M." Yeah right, they are here at 7:15 and gone by 3:30. Not cool. read more

If I could give a company a negative number of stars, I would give it to these idiots. Unfortunately we are stuck with them because they are contracted through our HOA but they do a TERRIBLE job. They mow the lawn and occasionally come through with some sort of electric trimmers and completely butcher anything that looks healthy. They do not pull weeds. They prune types of plants that are not supposed to be pruned at all. They don't prune plants that should be pruned. I would not be surprised if they just picked up day labor from outside the Home Depot because none of them appear to know even the most basic things about gardening. They are both lazy and incompetent. They are a constant source of anger and frustration among the residents in our development. We would have fired them 3 years ago if the developer did not still control over half of the HOA board. read more

My Homeowner's Association has used Cleary for many years and they did a decent job for a few years, but the last few years it has been a clown-fest. Maintaining landscape should not be a form of entertainment but these jokers will make you howl...and not in a good way. These guys ABSOLUTELY have no respect for resident's property nor know that there is a drought. If you are gonna use my personal hose the least you can do is turn if off and put it back where you found it... if you are going to be digging and blowing dirt in front of my property ummm letting me know before so I can close the windows. It is going to cost me $$$ to clean everything they messed up...my window coverings, my bedding, my patio furniture and window and frame cleaning. I have had my patio professionally landscaped and kitchen and baths remodeled and never had the mess like they made today!!! They are one sliver above Blow and Go guys. Most weeks they blow the dirt from the common area onto the homeowners walkways...that way when the H.O. Association walks around it looks clean. read more

We hired this company to do the Gardening of our grounds. They were short staffed and never did what they promised. I would never recommend them for anything. Very disappointed in their work and paid them for one month of doing nothing. We met with them three times to addressing the issues and were told they would improve. This never happened. Having worked with Cleary Bros. as Landscape Manager for a large Homeowners' Assn. (HOA), in Walnut Creek, and knowing the absolute quality of their work, I called upon them to install two 1,000 ft. garden beds at a second HOA where I was in charge of a rehab project. What I experienced was the highest degree of prefessionalism and quality work. Example: When the new plants were delivered from the nursery, Mike Cleary was there to inspect them as they came off the truck. He sent most of them back because some were one-gallon plants in five-gallon cans, some roses had fungus on their leaves, and some were inferior quality in other ways. While doing the actual installing, Mike found several deficiencies that were not part of his bid and he corrected them. One was a cache basin that was installed so high it could not capture water runoff. Mike's team lowered it at no extra cost. He also corrected a rain drain that was plugged with mud and debris. We had been living with a flooded sidewalk during rain storms for years and did not realize the source of the problem until Mike pointed it out to me and provided a solution. Our new garden beds are so successful that homeowners stop me as they see me in the neighborhood and compliment me on my choice of Cleary Bros. to do the work. Our account manager, Julie Gile, has been attentive and wonderful to work with. It's been a win-win for us. I will have Cleary bid on other projects and will work with them any chance I get in the future. We have a limited landscape budget and we can't afford to make mistakes. I have worked with Cleary Brothers Martin and Mike for over 10 years. They are my best landscape company. I use them at about 10 large properties. They are proactive by sending proposals to improve areas or replace old irrigation systems and components to save water and money. They also have a construction division to build you a new patio, retaining wall or repair 40 driveways. There are so many different things they can do to maintain large property landscapes! while looking for something else on Yelp- happened to come across a negative review for Cleary Bros which prompted me to write this one. I can't say enough great things about them. They have handled the landscaping for our HOA for about 12 years. The crew is very friendly- efficient and go above and beyond. Dave the foreman is very proactive and the supervisor Robert is great. I am a property manager at a 189 unit, high end condo complex in San Francisco. Matt Berry and his crew trimmed our perimeter sidewalk/street trees to perfection. There are certain protocols which need to be followed with regards to "topping" and his crew knows them all. With 189 units you get 189 different opinions as to what "looks good." Matt helped me navigate the owner's wishes with those of the City Public Works folks and I think the results are terrific. read more

When the workers began to trim the trees, I was impressed, they seemed careful. They raked up the trimmings, and put the large branches into their chipper. Then they began to blow away the small branches and twigs and leaves. The front of the property looked pretty good, when they then blew all the rest of the debris, branches, twigs, and leaves right into the storm drain. They put about three (3) cubic feet of debris right into the storm drain!!!!! Now, we have to get it out somehow, or it will clog up the whole system and our neighbor hood will be flooded when it rains! No matter the price, they are not worth it!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!!! read more

These guys are super reliable. Their management is attentive and what gets communicated to them is carried out in our condo development's landscape. Our concerns about new ground plants being delivered in unhealthy states, large bamboo shoots that needed to be trimmed back, pests that were damaging some bushes, etc. were all received and responded to promptly. The grass throughout is kept pristine and vines are no longer unwieldy. They are very professional! read more

I use this company as a subcontractor ad have found them to be very reliable. They respond quickly to any request, and keep me updated to all work work being done and when a job is completed. We called Cleary Brothers to have an Arborist come out and look at our Redwood trees due to their size and proximity to our home. Katie from Cleary Brothers came out and Wow, was she knowledgable, on time and very nice. We are so glad we called them and were relieved to hear out trees are just fine. Another company in the area told us one of our beautiful trees should be taken out. I'm certainly glad we contacted such a professional company that is always looking out for the customer. Cleary Bros. has the contract for our association at Bryan Terrace. I live on the corner next to the entrance and see them come and go each week. A week ago the newly assigned lead gardener, Jose, saw me and introduced himself and wanted me to know he was going to bring the standards up for our entrance. Monday, April 18th he spent most of the day doing exactly what he said he intended to accomplish. Our entrance has never looked better thanks to Jose. Why the City of San Rafael would hire a company from Danville to execute their median projects I do not know. It must have been the lowest bid. This is a million dollar project that should l have been completed in October and here it is the end of March.There are 4 miles of medians that had been badly neglected over many years. This company spent months ( 6- 7 months) tearing up the existing plants, and installing infrastructure - breaking existing cable and power lines. and cementing rocks in certain areas. Then the started to plant - poor Little specimens that are not all deer proof have been sitting out without irrigation for 6 weeks - I kid you not. No rain this year to help and a water truck has dumped water washing out all the soil . Now you would think that they could dig holes for the plants but about 30% have been left with the root crown exposed by 4- 5 inches and roots exposed for 6 weeks now. This apparently is to accommodate a large dumping of tanbark against the roots and crowns. - Surely the way to kill what they have planted and deplete any nitrogen that could be there. Now they are starting to provide irrigation- after the fact. According to the city they do not care because they will "inspect" when it is done and Cleary Bros will replace any dead plants for up to 1 year. After years of looking at weeds I am now looking at dead plants. I think I will be looking at dead plants for years to come. It may take up to 2 years to kill some of the trees but they are sure to have a shorter life because of this treatment. The property owners voted to pay a yearly fee to maintain these medians - what a waste of a million dollars. This company has lots of heavy equipment employed on this project - including spray rigs that are spraying the weeds right next to the new plants that their laziness did not bother to address before they planted. A couple of guys with shovels could have done this much more efficiently. read more
