There were a couple of instances where I had to step in to point out issues that might have otherwise gone unnoticed. Tiles in an outdoor patio is uncommon, so we had a lot of questions from the grading to rebar to water proofing to sealent to grout. FG answered all the questions and accommodated our requests to align with the tile vendor recommendations. Price competitiveness: We spoke with 4 paver companies. 1 didn't want to do Porcelain tiles+ Paver, 1 didn't meet our budget, job was too small for one. Project Management: regular site visits by the site lead. Eduardo is a gem. They helped us pick the right material, picked up the tiles, did the dry layout and kept us updated on the schedule Work site: Saul and his team were punctual, spotless at the end of workday and walked through every step of the process. We just finished a very large and very long project with K&B. I'm thrilled with how our backyard…read moreturned out. We live on a hill, so we had a lot of dirt moved and walls adjusted to give us some more flat areas. This also required permitting with the city because of the height of the walls and slope they are holding up. K&B handled all the permitting part, so I didn't have to deal with the city. I love the look of our new stone walls and trex decking. Our project ended up taking a year to complete (not counting the months of planning and permit work before the project started). K&B held to the pricing of the initial quote even though there were so many delays (due to city permitting) and costs had definitely gone up from what the initial quote was. The crews at my house were very respectful and clean. I feel like it's a very high quality job. The carpenter who did the deck is a true craftsman and gave suggestions on tweaks to really make the look amazing. The stone was all placed individually and the caps are smooth and together to form a great ledge. I would definitely recommend K&B for any future landscape projects.

I told Pablo we would not start this job 2-4 months so I felt uncomfortable paying the deposit so early but he insisted. Pablo reassured me that for any reason we do not do the work, he would come and do a $1,000.00 worth of work, so I have nothing to worry about. When agreed to sign the contract Elite pavers. At the same time, they were also doing a big job at my Daughters house. that job was a mess. Total lack of supervision, the crew was taking lemons off of the tree and throwing them at each, crew sleeping in wheel barrels, cut concrete not using water creating dust onto the neighbors yard causing issues with neighbors, the bobcat was unloaded upside down and took over an hour to flip it back, didn't level the yard before compacting baserock.... I can go on & on. They kept making mistakes that my son in law would catch, just poor quality work. After seeing this work I decided not to proceed with having elite pavers do my driveway. So i asked for Pablo do a small repair in our back yard worth $1000 to atleast make use of the deposit I paid. When asked to do that repair, Pablo said our min job is $4,500.00. I reminded Pablo of our agreement and he said well you signed the contract. After a while, he refused to do work for me and also refused to return my deposit. After months of going back and forth he finally returned the $1000 but it came with very unprofessional text messages. Pablo is 20 years old, very young and a lot to learn but is definitely being controlled by his "boss" Fernando. Every time Fernando showed up at my daughter's job, that's when corners were cut and mistakes happened. This company seems very scammy and I would not trust this company to do work for you.

For my project we were looking to replace our yucky inconsistent crabgrass lawn area with artificial grass. Kris came out to walk through our project late last year and quickly came back with a beautiful design and bid. I had received a few other bids, but Kris's design was by far the most thoughtful and gave my kids more square footage of play area. I had to put the project on hold in January due to some life factors, but called him back in early Feb to get going. Kris quickly came back out with samples, confirmed the project design and price and about a week later the project started! Kris brought the 2 Project Managers over in person to meet me a few days before we started. Pablo managed the project on side and great to work with. I'm soooo glad we did! We found Chot Nguyen, sole owner & operator, on Craigslist and called him for an estimate. We were looking for someone to do general clean-up and fall pruning/beefing up of our back yard (assorted grasses, more than a dozen roses bushes and four fruit trees) which we'd neglected for at least the past 9 months. We also needed to re-do our front "yard" - and I use that word loosely since we are in the SF Sunset district, where the front is really only three strips of plantable area - and give it some curb appeal. Chot came out to do the estimate and it was clear he knew his stuff. He gave us a written estimate right then and there, detailing the work, the number of new plants and the drip irrigation work we wanted. The prices were totally reasonable so we signed right then and there and gave a deposit. (I also loved that he followed state law and didn't ask for more than 10% or $1000, whichever is LESS) He started a couple of days later, and with the help of his son (love the family business aspect) was done in two days!! TWO days! Amazing! He selected the exact kinds & colors of plants and river rock we'd envisioned, did a great job with the drip system, and was very respectful of our property. He cleaned everything up when he was done, and hauled away all the debris. As if that wasn't good enough - he called us the next day to say he was worried he had missed one spigot on the drip system in the back yard and asked if he could come back to check on it! Unbelievable. He came back, checked it, tweaked it, and did another double-check of everything. He's definitely a pro and a perfectionist. I would recommend him to anybody. This has been one of our best experiences with a contractor!

He also resurface the old concrete and make it like new. He also helped us chose the right trees and flowers and help plant those trees. He and his son Bill were working hard on our backyard to make it beautiful. They also help us with the front yard by planting the flowers and setting up the sprinkler system. But they came back with exactly the same estimate, were able to start the project in a week, and finish in only four days. Just so you know, I have a very long uphill driveway in Oakland hills. The first day the cru arrived with machinery. I could not believe that my old driveway was gone by noon. Everybody who worked on site was knowledgeable, professional and hard working. Apart from the lunch break, I didn't see anyone slaking off. Nelson was on site daily confirming the design with me and overseeing the quality. Basically, they knew what they were doing and executed beautifully. Even the transition to the road was done better than I expected. I highly recommend Mr. Pavers!

Mr Pavers were great until we had a an issue....a big issue!…read moreMr Pavers did a great job on front walkways in October of 2021 and we had no big issues. Now time to redo our pool deck and back patio, we went back to Mr Pavers for the job using the same BELGARD pavers. We agreed to a few suggestions that added to our job including; using pavers for a walkway that we were originally not going to do (note-walkway has a big tree above it); upgrading a drain cover to match the pavers, etc. Glaystone, Owner of Mr Pavers, noticed the salesman had failed to see a drain and he needed to add $300 to our already signed contract for that. We did not object and accepted the additional charge without complaining. We had a whole lot of pavers left from our front walkway project that we have stored on the side of our house. We asked John (the salesman) if we could save a few $ and use them for the backyard. He said no because the color would no longer match and more importantly, as a result we would need to treat those pavers with a sealer every 1-2 years going forward and he said " no one wants that expense!!! " He said we could just get rid of those pavers or use them in a place that we wouldn't care if they didn't match. We got off to a bumpy start with minor issues for example-the salesman John told us they could easily get the forklift by our pool equipment on the side of the house to get to the back. Well-not even close-and we needed to have our equipment moved. Glaystone told us John had simply measured wrong. We loved our new pavers when they were done until 5 DAYS later. After a windy night my husband went out early the next morning to clean up the leaves that fell. That's when we discovered the patio and pool deck were heavily stained. So we sent a video to Glaystone and asked that he call us. First, he said the stains must have come from our barbecue. After telling him we have not used it, he said he was out of town and we agreed to contact him when he got back. Glaystone surprised us (back from vacation early?) and showed up to look at the damage and immediately said he wasn't responsible because he can't control nature. The leaves from our trees had caused the stains. He told us the pavers were perfect when he finished the project 5 days earlier and he was done. We were stunned to say the least. Our basic expectation was that he had surely experienced this before and would help with the solution since it had only been 5 DAYS! But instead Glaystone said it was our choice not to seal the pavers because we were so "budget conscious"! But there had been no suggestion that we seal the pavers ever and in the years we have had the same trees and pavers in our front yard we had not one single stain. So we were "budget conscious" because we didn't want to cover half of our backyard with pavers as he kept pushing us to do? If he had EVER brought up the fact that having a lot of trees in our yard could cause a problem with stains we would have either chosen a different product or treated it. In regards to us being "budget conscious "....Was a 20k job too small for him (which was our 2nd project using him)? So we said at the very least, who do you use for an issue like this and he called his "friend". His friend arrived less than an hour later and gave us a quote of $1600 to clean our pavers and then $1100 to seal them, so $2700 total. If we go forward with this it would now need to be repeated every 2-3 years. There is absolutely no guarantee that the stains will be removed! Has BELGARD done something to change their pavers? Did Mr Pavers do something different? But the bottom line is after the completion of the second major project with Mr Pavers we expected better from them. Our expectation was that with damage to the pavers after 5 DAYS they would have them cleaned and the stains removed. See pictures attached.

Our pool apron experienced settling, resulting in a couple of broken sections. Additionally the…read morejoint compound between the coping and apron was failing and no longer water tight. GMC Pavers and Landscaping replaced two sections of the apron with matching exposed aggregate. They also replaced several broken bricks, repaired cracking mortar, replaced the joint compound surrounding the entire pool and power washed the seating area by the hot tub. The before and after photos speak for themselves. The results are great! Janaii is a pleasure to work with and the GMC team was prompt, courteous and considerate. Here's more detail about both before and during the project to help you understand why I'm saying this. First of all, before the project, Janaii worked to help me find just the right materials and went the extra mile to source them even though this required additional work. She has an excellent sense of design and the result is beautiful. Next, during the project: The project was to lay a new driveway with drainage underneath and upgrade a retaining wall. My house is nearly 100 years old, and so during excavation we found a series of very challenging unrelated issues, from plumbing to foundation problems. Even though these were outside of the scope of work, GMC went above and beyond to proactively understand these problems, and offer solutions until I could address those that were outside of the kind of work that they do. They were patient with me, and the team worked with me to navigate all the challenges and rework the schedule so that despite these new challenges they were able to keep the work moving forward. At every step of the way, they stood by me despite the many challenging complications my old house introduced. And, at every step of the way Janaii was in constant communication with me. GMC truly stands out for both the process of the work (all the prep, communication, and sticking with me when my house threw out some curveballs) as well as for the final result and look of the work, which is outstanding.
