Cleveland Plays you say?... but what do we play???…read more Well a little bit of everything! The staff of Cleveland Plays offers up a ton of different sports throughout the year. I've personally only taken part in their indoor/outdoor Volleyball and Kickball leagues, but I've got friends who've done Soccer, Flag Football, Softball, Euchre, and a ton of other stuff. The guy who runs CLE Plays is very nice! Always willing to work with a team if they aren't a full roster at the time they are due, and usually willing to work with you if you are having issues with payment as well. The locations for the leagues vary, but usually happen to do with Mulberrys in the flats, or whiskey island (atleast for the leagues I've been a part of) The people who play are all out for fun, they aren't here to kill people at volleyball, hurt someone while playing kickball, or slice your throat with cards during euchre.. It's really a social/sporting group that I've really enjoyed being a part of during my transition to Cleveland.

I've played several spots through Cleveland Plays. Football is a biggie. They don't post the field to play on until about Thursday before a Saturday morning plays - and that's AT BEST. Oh, and how many times have they changed the field the day of play? The fields aren't labeled. The refs don't always have updated info. They take FOREVER to update rankings and they're often wrong! I mean, seriously guys - if this is your job and we pay you a LOT for the pleasure of playing in your league - how hard is it to update a website?

I have been a student at CSU since 2011 till 2013. One of my favorite places at this University…read morewere Theatre department, Library (is huge - go to the top floor and read your books there, then relax and look at the beautiful view outside), and of course - the Rec Center! I would say this rec center had almost everything you need (the only things I wish they add are sauna and jacuzzi). You want to play indoor soccer - not a problem, basketball - use 3 courts on the second floor, volleyball - please feel free to join. If you love to lift some weights - there is a third floor which has a dedicated space for that. After my workouts, I loved to go to a swimming pool. This Rec Center is definitely something I miss. I wish I lived closer to Downtown and in that case, I would definitely buy a pass to this fitness center. GO VIKINGS!!!

I visited in late October 2025 with a free guest pass. The CSU Recreation Center is a great option…read morefor Cleveland State University students. This campus gym is big with plenty of exercise options to choose from, including, weights, cardio machines, basketball court, an area to stretch, etc. I believe that they also have fitness classes too. I had a difficult time trying to find the entrance into the gym once I got in the building until a maintenance worker helped me. Once you enter through the front door, you will see the gym upstairs but there isn't a straight way to get there because the elevators and stairs go to different parts. I spent about 15 mins being lost, confused, and almost irritated. An employee tried to help me but their instructions didn't help me at all...LOL. Anyway, shout out to the maintenance man for coming through and saving the day! I most likely won't be back because I already joined a gym (my local YMCA) a month after visiting the CSU Recreation Center. **** GOAL of 250 reviews in 2026 - 165/250 total reviews in 2026 - 1006 total Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 31 July 2026
