I also loved the atmosphere, upscale food without feeling stuffy or pretentious. It felt like the kind of place you could walk into dressed casually and still enjoy an amazing dining experience. Food is 10/10. Big plus for having vegetarian options or being able to modify dishes to be vegetarian. It's one of a very few places in the area that isn't a chain, isn't just burgers and pizza, and also isn't pretentious or overpriced. The service is always friendly and knowledgeable. We've been there at least ten times and only once was the service slow. It was an anomaly because they're usually really on top of things. Ambiance is a friendly, but upscaled downtown cafe/bar place that is perfect for taking out-of-towners or a fun brunch with the ladies. (They have a separate brunch menu on Saturdays!) I don't drink, so I can't comment on their drink selections. I'm taking away a star because the parking situation is annoying, especially during construction. There is street parking or a huge parking lot in the back. However, the back parking lot is a terrible hodgepodge of concrete and asphalt and a gazillion potholes and no super clear direction on how to get to the restaurant. Some signage would go a long way in helping customers to not only find parking, but once parked, to them navigate back to the little crevice where the back door is located. The back porch is located behind a larger portion of the structure and you can't see it from the parking lot. Additionally, if you have anyone in your party with mobility issues, it's next-to-impossible to park near enough to the door to make a difference. The handicapped parking spots are 40 yards away from the back door. All that said, we will def go back because there's nothing else like it in the area. read more

I can't believe it took me forever to come here. This place is truly a gem in Edwardsville. The food feels cozy, fresh and I love the use of local ingredients. It's a dim lit cozy restaurant with full service bar. The menu is unique and has a bit of everything. I love the apps we tried. They basically filled us up. The mains were great. The burger was so unique and so juicy! I had a seasonal cocktail which was tasty and ended with a refreshing glass of white. They have parking out front and in the back. If you're wondering way, it's because on Monday they have Manhattans for $6 and a Meatloaf Dinner Special. If you are wanting a delicious home cooked comfort food meal, this Meatloaf dinner is what you need. You'll enjoy one large slice of gourmet meatloaf with a side of fresh green beans and fluffy whipped potatoes. At first I was bummed that there was no brown gravy on the potatoes, but once I started eating I realized I really didn't need it. Their rich buttery flavor was good enough. Their Manhattans are masterfully made and with the $6 price on a Monday, you need to use strong self-control. Otherwise, you may find yourself with a good buzz. Many years ago a friend and I sat at the bar for brunch and I've been hooked on C-H since. They've changed hands a few times, but the menu remains solid. Last night some friends and I sat on the patio and enjoyed the summer night. Ashley was our server and so friendly. She made some great recommendations. I ordered the chop-chop salad and fries for the table. My friends split wings (with homemade sriracha!) and the Mac. Deviled eggs and beignets too. All so good! Their fry sauce is amazing. It's always nice to be pleasantly surprised when you change your dinner plans at the last minute. Instead of going to a place I thoroughly researched, I ended up at the closest place to me out of sheer laziness. Welcome to Cleveland Heath. Any time I see Peruvian chicken on a menu, it's almost a guarantee that's what I get. And now that I've had it here, it's gonna be difficult for me to sample the rest of this menu. Served with two sauces (Verdi, Amarillo), cilantro lime rice, and plantain. Simply delectable. Also started with a butternut squash soup which I found to be excellent. Sort of a light night for me, but will be coming back with many interesting items in my sights: gringo tacos, deviled eggs, crispy coconut cauliflower, local beets...it goes on and I'm excited to explore. Yum. Yum. Yum. Why did it take me so long to try this place? I read the reviews. It's not a long drive. It sounded good. Yet I waited years. What fools these mortals be! All fun aside, the ambience is great - comfortable, bright, and stylish. There is a lot of wood so it gets a little too noisy even if it looks pretty. The service was perfect. It was attentive but not overbearing. Honestly we had a primo table and stayed a long time and they were not pushy. Next time I will be more mindful of time. But the food... wowzers. The coffee was good. There was cream and there was raw sugar (which is vital if you ever want me to order coffee again). Our table had biscuits. They were the almost fried kind instead of what I consider the more traditional flaky kind. I prefer the flaky, but these were top notch if that's your jam. Speaking of jam - raspberry preserves and honey butter, both divine. The other side of our table split biscuits and gravy and the protein bowl with the lamb. They were very happy with their choice. My husband and I had the breakfast burrito and split an order of bacon. The bacon was really good and nicely crisped. The burrito was amazing. This was my first breakfast burrito - because it was the first one that sounded good to me. It was a lot. I ate half and took half home. It was so good that within a few hours I had finished the leftovers. And talked my husband into letting me have his leftovers tomorrow for lunch. The one thing that really stuck out at this spot was the portion sizes. Massive! Somehow I still managed to order cherry pie after my huge brunch dish haha. We came to Edwardsville to go to a different restaurant but we couldn't be seated there (no reservation) and Cleveland-Heath was our second choice. It was an awesome second choice! The service was quick and friendly which was great because we had a 7pm movie to catch. The restaurant is casual but nice for a date. The tigers blood cocktail was great. I loved it. The mushroom fondue appetizer was also very good. For our entrees I ordered the Kale salad after seeing numerous reviews mention it. The salad is phenomenal. Very fresh and dressing and cheese are perfect. I also ordered a biscuit to go with it. The cheddar biscuits were sooo good. The butter and jam were great with it too. My boyfriend ordered the pasta and added shrimp he really liked it. He loves shrimp and mozzarella balls so it was perfect. The sauce was delicious and very rich. So I went to Cleveland Heath for the second time and was very impressed. Started with a cup of the Pozzole soup - glad i only got a cup cause there was so much shedded pork in it, could be an entree . Split the coconut fried cauliflower which was delicilous and spicey. Also generous portion for two. Then split the smash burger which was huge. Two patties with carmalized onions and sauce wich was delicious and very filling. The manhattens are on point, if you like bourbon i highly recommed. Service was perfect as everyone visits each others stations to serve and pick up plates. The menu is deceiving a small, but everything around me look delicious. Nothing next time. I'll definitely try the scottish salmon. We will be back. Our server, Jordan was excellent and elevated the experience for first timers. The food was beautifully crafted, the presentation was as described and the first bite was sublime. After each new dish, I immediately looked at my sister to see her reaction and she was looking at me smiling. We both nodded in agreement! From the signature Manhattan and deviled eggs, to the best flavored brussel sprouts, shared breakfast rice, BLT, Beigneits, and Cherry Pie... we dined sufficiently. Cleveland-Heath has been open for a number of years now. The food is always spectacular - I used to get a pulled pork sandwich with their fries that was out of this world! Speaking of the fries, they're a mix of russet and sweet potato shoestring fries. These babies go quick, especially with the sauce they put on the side! The service has always been kind and plentiful. There are never any empty water glasses or empty plates that need to be cleared. Last time I was in, the server suggested Brussels Sprouts as a shareable side - she was spot on! I used to think I didn't like Brussels, but I learned I just haven't had Brussels made properly! The ambiance is cozy - it almost feels like you're in a busier neighborhood than downtown Edwardsville, like Tower Grove South or Soulard in St. Louis. That is a compliment! The servers' laid-back attitudes really help sell the environment. I can't recommend Cleveland-Heath enough! Next dish to try is the old fashioned cherry pie! read more

Went to Cleveland heath on a date with my partner. We came in around 3 and the mains weren't available yet. The appetizers were what we decided to go with-a bunch of them to try for fun. The service was great. I'm pretty sure our servers name was Katie and she did a great job. Mushroom fondue was the star. There were a variety of mushrooms in the deliciously flavored fondue and the buttery toasted white bread was a perfect pairing. Chips and salsa had excellent homemade chips. The salsa itself was fine. Clearly made with canned corn which is kind of a bummer and the flavor was fine. Easily something I could whip up at home. Crispy coconut cauliflower was super solid and tasty. I liked the cabbage underneath as well. We ordered the sweet and spicy wings. The wings themselves were tasty and cooked very well. These fell flat for me because the sauce was just a Thai sweet chili sauce and it had zero spice. Not spicy at all. I was pretty bummed they were just Thai sweet chili ones- wouldn't have ordered them. We ended our jaunt with the brown butter Rice Krispie to go. It was huge (seriously the size of a brick) and tasty and 5$. Great deal. The portions were plentiful for everything and the price was worth it. They only had 2 non alcoholic drink options. We were slow to decide but didn't feel rushed Appetizers: biscuits were large with a good texture and flavor. Honey butter and seasonal jam were great. Brussels Sprouts we're large and good flavor. Wings were pretty tiny and not something I would order again. Pasole had tons of pork and a good kick of heat. BLT was quite large with a good amount of bacon. The basil mayo was very good. An absolute gem. We went on a Saturday for lunch, not realizing it was a brunch menu until later in the afternoon. It wasn't crowded, and we were seated immediately. I wasn't in the mood for "breakfast" foods, so we got burgers and fries. But they weren't just *any* burgers and fries. The burgers were definitely above average, and the fries are what all French fries wish they were. I got a mix of russet and sweet potato- perfection. I also ordered a Pumpkin King cocktail- which was a mix of "pumpkin infused whiskey, grand marnier, maple, and apple cider" and it was fall in a glass. Delicious. The first time we came in I was underwhelmed by the mojito and pozole but the ambience and kind service was delightful nonetheless. We came again and tried a bunch of lunch menu items. They were all good. I highly suggest the Mac and fondue if you're feeling comfort food. They're both packed with flavor, bonus if you add steak on the Mac! This was our second trip to Cleveland Heath. We brought friends from out of town to enjoy one of our favorite spots but we had not been here since before 2020. The restaurant still looks the same but the food and service have changed dramatically. We had a table of five, all together we ordered deviled eggs, salt and pepper chicken wings, two of the pork chops, the gringo tacos, the Mediterranean grain bowl, and the BLT. The deviled eggs were really good, and the wings were hot and fresh. My friends really enjoyed the alcohol selection because they wanted to try local breweries. But the BLT ran to the salty side as well as the pork chops. The grain bowl had a slimy texture to it once the pita was gone and it made it hard to eat. The gingo tacos were fine but nothing to write home about.  The real issue for the rating was our waitress disappearing for a good 45 minutes after taking our food orders. It then took a very long time to then get our bill afterwards. I don't know if they were understaffed but we had other plans for the evening that we weren't able to get to because dinner took so long. I think this would be fine for a happy hour because the appetizers were the best part and the alcohol was very good according to my guests. read more

I have always loved Cleveland-Heath, but stopped going as frequently due to some menu changes and my fiancé not caring for some of the dishes. Recently, they revamped their menu to focus on some of their most popular classic dishes and we have enjoyed it so much! We have been a few times since then and have tried the whipped feta, crispy pork belly, and BLT with fries as well as various cocktails. It has all been delicious! My favorite would probably be the whipped feta since it is so flavorful and fresh with the crispy veggies and the sourdough toast is just perfect. I got the Moonshine Mojito which has been my favorite drink there for any years and I would still say it is. I also tried the Dark & Stormy, Negroni, and margarita and the margarita was surprisingly good. It wasn't too tart or strong, but had a nice mellow flavor I really enjoyed. This will be our new go to happy hour and dinner spot. Happy hour is on week days from 2:30-5:30 and includes $5 classic cocktails, half price beer, and $4 wine. You can't beat that and the bar area has a great atmosphere. We always have good service when we go. read more

We live quite a ways from this place, so whenever we are in the area, we make time to stop. Lots of fresh and local ingredients from nearby farms. They have a pretty varied menu with several Vegetarian options and a few that can be made Vegan by some simple alterations. I always get the Kale Salad and the Brussels Sprouts now as they are my favorites but have enjoyed in the past; the Chop Salad and Deviled eggs. Spouse has gotten the Pulled Pork, Gyros and the Smash Burger. All are delicious, the Pulled Pork being a little sweet for me but he loves it. The Brussels are killer and a house favorite. Fried with Capers. Onions and a Lemon sauce. Kale Salad is so simple yet satisfyingly delish! They also have a House made Bloody Mary and local beer choices. Decor is lovely; a mix of cozy clubhouse style, soft lighting and modern paintings. Service is always great. Lunch with Brussels to start, Kale Salad, Bloody Mary, coffee and the Gyro came to around $42 plus tip. read more

Well, I guess if I'm going to earn my keep (from Yelp HQ's perspective) I'll have to get off my vacation cloud, come back to reality near home, and write some local carryout/curbside-pick-up reviews. I'll start with Cleveland-Heath, which, even without the Utah-departed (or wherever they now may be) Cleveland and Heath, still sits near the top of E'ville dining options. It was the final place we dined at "pre-Covid" when everyone knew something was coming, but not just what. Since, we've done a couple takeouts. Most recently, our party of four had some of the C-H classics, including brussel sprouts (yes!) deviled eggs (yes!) chop-chop salad x 3 (yes!) BLT, C-H Burger, and even a very reasonably priced $15 bottle of wine. In the "old days," I always thought it genius that Jenny was often on the floor, but not easily identified as "owner," directing excellent service "in the trenches," even when not everyone realized it. More recently, I think it's probably Kari who has fulfilled a similar role. Even in Covid-carryout times, we feel a sort of "mother-hen influence," and I mean that in a good way. We were maybe five minutes behind schedule on pickup, and received a phone call worrying about our pickup time, just as we pulled up to the curb. Thanks, C-H, for at least temporarily and sporadically providing some great carryout service during Covid-19 restrictions. I'm glad you've re-opened. I believe you're still the best in E'ville, and worth the drive of St.-Louisans and Metro-easters looking for a consistently high-quality and fun dining experience. read more

Natasha was one of the best servers I have had - she was incredibly personable, well versed in all the gluten free ins and outs of the menu, and made sure everything was exactly how we wanted it.
