We started with cocktails and they were delicious, we tried all 4 cocktails of the night and they were each delightful. After that we had 3 small plates and 2 large. The brown butter soft boiled egg had me wishing I could lick the plate! We tried Scallop crudo and it was one of our favorite dishes of all time in RVA. The beets were great, and well balanced. We also tried the beef tongue special, which was so tender it fell apart at the slightest touch of your fork and melted in your mouth, with a green garlic sauce that I'll be dreaming of for days to come. Lastly we had the pork loin, perfectly cooked, tender and juicy. We had a cornmeal cake for desert which was great, not too sweet, and we took most home to enjoy later. The restaurant is charming and inviting, small but not crowded or too loud. Can't wait to return! With the small rotating seasonal menu, we went for specials and staff recommendations, which we love!

It was mid day so we were seated upstairs with no wait. Staff is super responsive and friendly. Outdoor seating was great with its view of the street below. Complimentary nuts and olives were given. Sangria was my drink of choice and it was delicious. I the drink was largely fresh made with their house wine and was so easy to drink. After a couple of glasses, I wanted to try their popular meat and cheese tray. I asked about a combo of both Spanish cheeses and meats. The sausages were excellent and the soft and hard cheese just added a nice touch to the snack.

We ordered sangria and the table red wine and both were delicious. The sangria rioja is a touch on the sweeter side, which I personally don't mind, but just be aware if that is not your thing! It did taste better once it was a little bit diluted. The rice dish (arroz meloso) was one of their brunch specials and it was FANTASTIC! It has shrimp, chorizo, and chicken, and the rice was cooked and flavored to perfection. It was like a mini paella and the portion was huge. Definitely big enough to share for two people! I even told the waitress they need to add this to their menu permanently and not just as a special. We also ordered the patatas bravas (the crispy potatoes with spicy sauce), and it quite literally transported me back to my time when I lived in Spain. It came with a side of garlic aioli which was divine...creamy, garlicky (but not TOO garlicky), and seasoned well. the red sauce on the potatoes was delicious and spicy, so beware if you are not fan of spicy food. We had a little mishap with another tapa (the pan iberico, which they have listed as a flatbread) which I unfortunately did not take a picture of and did not care for at all. They gave us the vegetarian version by mistake, but our waitress was awesome and she recognized the mistake right as it came to our table. We got the right one and it wasn't bad, but definitely wouldn't order again. That would be the only thing I would avoid from the menu, as it's not traditionally Spanish. It was like a mini pizza with chorizo and had manchego melted on top. I'm sure a lot of people would like it, but it just didn't make much sense to me! Atmosphere is warm and inviting, and I can't wait to go back for a wine tasting and more tapas. Try them out :)

Plus I had heard great things about their Neapolitan pizza, so I was hyped to try it. Sooo bad news. The pizzas apparently weren't selling well enough, so they no longer offer them, nor will they be bringing them back in the future. They do have empanadas instead, though, which were quite tasty. I liked the margherita and the spinach ricotta. We also ordered a charcuterie plate after our server suggested it instead of the olives. Sadly it only had four olives on the plate, so we rationed. I wasn't a super huge fan of the plate, as it was heavy on crackers. I would've liked to see more variety for the price, including perhaps some fresh bread and more pickles. My boyfriend and my mom split crab fritters, and they really loved those. Between us, we purchased two wine flights and my mom had a moscato. They were out of many options, so perhaps they were in between inventory. The wines they did have were all great. I'd say overall our visit was nice. It wasn't groundbreaking by any means, and I'd be more likely to go to some of the other wine shops in the area first before returning -- but I do see a lot of potential here.

It was pristinely stocked, had a plentiful selection, and the staff was "Absolut"ly friendly and helpful! We were planning a party for a friend. The salesclerk came over and assisted us with our selections. The manager told us about the sales, he gave us some recipe ideas and we all had a nice chat while shopping. When I walked in after their remodel, angels sang, a bright light came on and I spun around in circles smiling with happiness as I couldn't believe my eyes. Okay, that's a little dramatic but that's what happened in my head as I've never laid eyes on such a beautiful ABC store! I'm used to the boring aisles with bottles lined up, uncomfortable mirrors so the clerks make sure no one is stealing and pretty much no décor other than some random cardboard advertisements for liquor but NOT THIS PLACE! They had a beautiful set up of seasonal liquor displayed at the entrance. A tasting bar built in. A beautiful display of airplane bottles on one wall and actual décor on the walls that made me want to say "I'LL TAKE ONE OF EVERYTHING!". If that wasn't enough, a salesman asked if I needed help and when they couldn't locate a bottle of pumpkin liqueur that I needed, he called a location down the street and had them hold it for me. Way to go ABC store, now if you renovate all locations like this, I'll be speechless!
