I snuck by while my wife was running a wine event elsewhere. Very good Neapolitan pizza...I got pepporoni as I always do for comparison purposes. Crust was thin, chewy, and had the requisite scorch bubbles with a flavorful sauce a cup pepporoni. It was happy hour so this entire pizza and a glass of wine (cab franc for me) was just $20. The wine list has some good variety, but don't expect what Somms might go crazy over. Things are priced to be approachable, and that's not a bad thing--it's just a niche. Music was perfect volume and helped complete the atmosphere...kind of a trendy vibe without being pure pop or jazz. 5 stars. Check the hours before you come...it's basically 5-9 W-Sa and 3-7 Sa too...thats's it...but they're working on getting more.

I might have just found my favorite wine bar in the city. It's a hidden gem in Carytown ironically across from a wine shop. The owners were super friendly and helpful as I was meeting a friend for dinner. We both enjoyed wine, share a charcuterie tray, pizza and dessert! I had the Maggie which was a Margherita styled pizza and delicious, the ingredients were soooo fresh and I love brickoven pizza! The pecan tart was super yummy and I also enjoyed a couple chocolates. Great spot for a date night or even an outing with a small group of friends.

Our server was wonderful and very knowledgable about the wine. I loved that we had a mini tasting when he told us about the open bottles. We all ended up picking a different glass! For our meal, we shared the following: - Bread service -- honestly, SO delicious - Tartare -- very unique flavors, kind of like a tabouleh - Cabbage Ceasar salad -- an interesting take on a classic salad, very fresh and crunchy - Aleppo egg -- a take on Turkish eggs, it wasn't super great to share but was very good - The cacio de pepe pasta -- the most underwhelming dish of the night, not bad but nothing special - The steak -- my friend who doesn't like cheese had this and shared a few bites and it was very tender and flavorful We opted out of dessert but the dark chocolate tahini truffles sounded like they would be so good!

He seemed annoyed that I had my own preferences about which wines I wanted to try, which made the tasting feel uncomfortable instead of enjoyable. After that interaction, he essentially handed us off to another server and completely stopped checking on us. He never came back to ask if we wanted additional wine tastings, food, or anything else. We felt ignored for the rest of the visit. Wine tasting should feel inviting and relaxed, but the atmosphere here felt awkward and unwelcoming because of the service. I'm sharing this so others know that the hospitality aspect may not match expectations.

So much food came out that our plan at a midday snack became our dinner. Half of the grilled cheese made its way back home. I especially liked the Brie, whipped ricotta, and speck on the charcuterie board. The grilled cheese was perfectly balanced with the apple butter and mustard as well. We also got roasted red peppers as a surprise. Those and the olives were again, superb! We ate in the dead of winter, and left fully warmed by our meal. I can imagine the ambiance in the summer to be delightful when they open their outdoor patio! One thing to note if it's your first time. We sat ourselves and ordered at a register for our food. It was brought to us by friendly staff. Afterwards we bussed our glassware and left our plates.

The drinkers of our little group really enjoyed their wine flights and the huge variety, but I'm focused on the food which was all quite good if not also on the smaller side. The chef was pretty resistant to any requests for substitutions, so do with that what you will. They certainly knew what they were doing in the kitchen. The duck, with the chard mixture, was amazing work. The burger is probably the largest dish on the menu, it's pretty substantial and was very tasty. I'll also shout out the pickles on the meat and cheese board, they had a significant spicy kick but were delicious and I wanted more in the end. The service was great, our man was very involved and had a lot of knowledge about the menu. It honestly was pretty quiet for a Friday night; the Tobacco Company is right down the block but you would never know it in here. The decor in here is also very interesting, there are tables with couch seating on one side. Everything's very sleek. Delightfully clean bathrooms. We enjoyed it, though I'm not sure when we'll be back for a meal as the menu is ultimately pretty small.

It was mid day so we were seated upstairs with no wait. Staff is super responsive and friendly. Outdoor seating was great with its view of the street below. Complimentary nuts and olives were given. Sangria was my drink of choice and it was delicious. I the drink was largely fresh made with their house wine and was so easy to drink. After a couple of glasses, I wanted to try their popular meat and cheese tray. I asked about a combo of both Spanish cheeses and meats. The sausages were excellent and the soft and hard cheese just added a nice touch to the snack.

We ordered sangria and the table red wine and both were delicious. The sangria rioja is a touch on the sweeter side, which I personally don't mind, but just be aware if that is not your thing! It did taste better once it was a little bit diluted. The rice dish (arroz meloso) was one of their brunch specials and it was FANTASTIC! It has shrimp, chorizo, and chicken, and the rice was cooked and flavored to perfection. It was like a mini paella and the portion was huge. Definitely big enough to share for two people! I even told the waitress they need to add this to their menu permanently and not just as a special. We also ordered the patatas bravas (the crispy potatoes with spicy sauce), and it quite literally transported me back to my time when I lived in Spain. It came with a side of garlic aioli which was divine...creamy, garlicky (but not TOO garlicky), and seasoned well. the red sauce on the potatoes was delicious and spicy, so beware if you are not fan of spicy food. We had a little mishap with another tapa (the pan iberico, which they have listed as a flatbread) which I unfortunately did not take a picture of and did not care for at all. They gave us the vegetarian version by mistake, but our waitress was awesome and she recognized the mistake right as it came to our table. We got the right one and it wasn't bad, but definitely wouldn't order again. That would be the only thing I would avoid from the menu, as it's not traditionally Spanish. It was like a mini pizza with chorizo and had manchego melted on top. I'm sure a lot of people would like it, but it just didn't make much sense to me! Atmosphere is warm and inviting, and I can't wait to go back for a wine tasting and more tapas. Try them out :)

It was rather empty. Our group of 6 plus four others, which means FAST ROTATION . The karaoke DJ was cool. The sound system is nice! Good mics, speakers, and song arrangements. He had a huge vault of songs... everything I asked for, he had. Some of which are not as popular as others. AND the best part, he could change the pitch to accommodate my vocal range. Some of my favorite songs are a bit too high, and I had to ask for two of them to be brought down 1/2 step. Songs ranged from 50s to current. Enjoyable singers all around and everyone was fun to watch. I got a glass of their tempranillo, which was perfection. Full bodied, super dry and delicious. I also got a pizza, which is kind of a personal size. Very thin. Good, but not great. Decor is nice. Newly renovated with mostly tables all on the same level, but also a couch area next to the TV, and about three bar seats. Plenty of room to spread out. The only thing keeping Gramophone from 5 stars is the lack of food options. Hope they're able to add some simple staples like burgers and fries or salads. Convenient location right on the corner of Forest Hill and Westover Hills Blvd. I'll definitely come back for karaoke and wine!

Once…read moreit gets full it can feel a bit cramped, but this is probably due to my height and the low ceilings. The house is rich in history making it quite a special place for my husband and I to celebrate a momentous occasion. A drawback was how uncomfortable the seats were. My husband and I are like Vikings, very tall and stocky, so the seats felt too small. The average person will probably have no problem with them. My hubs ordered the seafood platter and was delighted in how delicious it was. I ordered the Black and Bleu Beef Tips with the filet and requested it be cooked medium rare. Unfortunately, it was mostly overcooked and tough. I expected the mushroom sauce to be more substantial and the bleu cheese to be enough to be tasted. I was very disappointed at what was a sprinkling of mushrooms on top and no distinct bleu cheese flavor at all. The twice baked potato was yummy, but I could not eat the asparagus as I found it bitter and undercooked. It made me regret paying the price it cost as I could not even enjoy half the portion. Service was good and yet not. We were served by three different people, including the manager who seemed to give most of her attention to one particular table. When she removed our plates without offering dessert, coffee, or tea it felt we were being hurried along. One older gentleman was very attentive. He made sure we were taken care of and satisfied. I wish I knew his name as I would love to give him all the stars. He was superb and comped us dessert in honor of our special occasion. We chose the tiramisu, and it was very tasty, perfect crispy top with the creamy underside. I do recommend this restaurant as an experience one should seek to enjoy. I believe you will love the historicity of the location, and the service will be a fine dining event. Your food may be hit or miss, depending on what you order, but I think the location itself is worth the risk.
